For a chilling time and all within walking distance, Chiang Mai is better.

Michelin Restaurants, local food, massage, mountains, shopping ... Chiang Mai has a wide selection.

Chiangmai harder to get girls unless you can speak Thai and get Dek sideline.
Otherwise, you're limited to places like Dolphin spa.

Been to both many trips... Starting out BKK better if still speak 0 english... More english freindly there. But standard wise Chiang Mai win for me I feel more wild and less robotic and price slightly friendlier. Only downside is if u go and speak 0 english they will high ball u..
