Hi newbie here. How does a recession affect the FL/ML/SB scene? Had never went through the covid/2008 periods while being a degenerate.

Any stories to share?

They say if you want to know whether there’s a recession, don’t ask an economist - ask a FL…

Demand drops as guys cut down on expenses. So those $88 massage shops with $80-$100 hjs are the first to suffer.

Supply increases as more ladies turn to this sideline to make a living. With the visa exemption between China and Singapore, there will be more China ladies coming as unemployment is quite bad in China. I saw a post in wechat where a lady said she is thinking of doing sideline and when she enquired, the bosses all said all slots are taken. So even if a lady is willing to be a ML/FL, may not have a chance to sell.

Bosses are reacting to lower demand from guys by increasing the monthly targets of ML/FL. There are shops with $9000 monthly targets now. If the lady cannot meet the target, she will have to top up the difference. The bosses are at least assured of a monthly base income.

There will be ladies in our social circle with financial needs. Some may be open to private deals if no one else knows about it. Just ask discreetly without leaving evidence in email, whatsapp etc.

Good for Singapore. Eg. Thailand 1 year of funeral for late Queen. Many FL/ WL & LB will come into Singapore to earn S$. The problem is S$. Off the records. This year over supply of taxi drivers & platform workers. Is never because of AI is too many people in their business.

Look into taxi app we will see average of 3 available taxi driving around our location. I had 1 offered online MacD. It arrived within 15 minutes. MacD outlet is not opposite my Condo, by the way.

Commercial sex industry. Customer r not spending more compare to b4 world lock down. A necessary thing this sex industry can do is up their service standard with markup S$. Eg. BL charged the cheapest @S$40.

Still. RAW is wronged. Be good to yourself & others.

According to a 2023 study by the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, at any given time, there are approximately 8,030 female sex workers in Singapore.

Its researchers used the Network Scale-Up Method, a technique designed to measure hidden or hard-to-reach populations. Instead of surveying sex workers directly, they asked a representative sample of Singapore residents how many people they personally knew who were involved in sex work, then extrapolated the figures based on average social network sizes.

Of these women, around 800 to 1,000 work in more than 100 regulated brothels in Singapore’s main red-light district, Geylang. While there are no official statistics, the figure is drawn from anecdotal accounts by former sex workers, and volunteers who conduct weekly outreach in the area.

Regulated brothels, however, represent only a small slice of the larger picture. An underground economy sprawls far beyond Geylang’s lanes, spilling into massage parlours, KTV lounges, beauty salons, escort agencies and a digital marketplace that runs from private chat channels to subscription platforms like OnlyFans.

Even so, the numbers are porous. The study does not capture male or transgender workers, freelancers operating solo out of rented hotels and apartments, small collectives, or those working under agents who take cuts, making the true size of the industry hard to pin down.

“8,030 is just an estimate,” says Dr Rayner Tan, an assistant professor at the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health, who was involved in the study.

He notes that due to the stigma surrounding sex work and the fact that most Singaporeans are unlikely to know someone in the trade, the actual number could range from 3,980 to 16,200.

Most of the workers are transitory migrants who enter on tourist visas and leave after a few weeks. Singaporeans and local residents make up only a small fraction. According to Project X – a non-profit organisation that has spent more than a decade offering social, emotional and legal support to sex workers – locals, including permanent residents and those on long-term visit passes, make up just 15 per cent to 20 per cent of Singapore’s sex industry.

Dear Sir! I not here to change history. Singapore commercial sex industry became much attractive after world's open gates. Pricing has drop. How come I not visiting BL? Is personal.

My advice, have fun ones awhile, do not over spend. And take care of our health. I do not encourage women & men to operate these VICE, I know the $ is good & easy to earn. History of WW2. In movies not to believe everythings. Comfortable women who went into the trade with no force, they lived comfortable lifes & $ was there. Inspite of the wars.

I am not passing judgment.

The ML and FL here are overpriced for their quality of work.

You cross border get better quality and cheaper price.

Any bros who continue to spend here on the ladies with lower quality of work is just prolonging and encouraging the bullshit.

The only winner here is the OKTs and the government.

Recession only happens to Singaporeans, you never see those JHK, CECAs and pinoys so happy everyday send lots of Singapore dollar back to their country and within few years they can go back retire like kings and queen while Singaporeans still slog like a dog and complain things getting more expensive. People who feel the recession fully deserved it because they voted for open leg policy.

Mine friend observed FTs carefully. They practice office politic to get rid of their kinds. On the surface they looked united, contract expiry they drop everything in the book to convict employer to recontract. Still. Too many FT, PR & citizens.

RLD business. Is only me. Past 15 yrs too many FL/ WL wish to earn S$, & this country offered world class living, only they believe. They will come, no worry. Customer must be firm, we paid market rates. If $ not correct. Move away.

Actually, 18 yrs ago I worked for a SME. The MD who brought customers out for entertainment. He said too many KTV girls each can bargain down the pricing. Customer wins only he stand by what is correct.

The system origin from founding fathers to secure powers. FEAR is 1 factor. 1 more. Hokkien love to say.

Nothing we can do. No choice.

This saying mean give up we cannot win. This is nonsense.
