I have dated a fair share of SG, Thai, PRC, and Koreans. Am in my late 30s.

Thai - They are usually very loving and focuses most of their attention to you, they won't force or guilt trip you to do anything extravagant. Satisfied with a simple life and very family friendly.

PRC - They are more uptight on looks and appearances, the one I had wanted to stay with me early on in our relationship to move away from her parents. She isn't really demanding but can be quite naggy at times, more or less nice girls to date.

Koreans - Very focused on appearance, does not spare a single cent when it comes to holidays and food, but if you treat them well, they will treat you well. Prettiest exes I dated are Koreans.

SG - Now, most of them look okay. But they have a built-in princess attitude and wishes to be pampered most the time. Very demanding on the amount of times we have to see each other a week, update each other hourly and constantly seeks out arguments. I had some of the worst experiences dating locals, but maybe I am unlucky when it comes to locals.

They may be entitled, but better to start a family with. Just continue to work hard and date hard and find the right one. Go foreign only if you have tried your best and there are no results. Most of the foreign girls bring with them another set of problems which you will only come to realise later. Most common of all is homesick. And normally you will be the one to settle your kids stuff, many of them bochap one

Yes, Sg girls are entitled to significant medical subsidies at public healthcare institutions and participating private clinics, with levels based on income or residential property value.

Hi Bro, thanks for sharing.

If you have to pick one to settle down with, which would you chose?

Thai or Korean for sure. For realistic expectations, Malaysians are the most logical for logistics etc.

I dated a few foreigners when I was younger.

Back in polytechnic, I was in a relationship with a Malaysian girl from Ipoh. Dating her felt relatively easy, as our cultures were quite similar. She was gentler compared to the Singaporean girls I knew then. It might also have been because we were still students, so her expectations weren’t very high. We broke up in the final year of poly after I cheated on her with a local girl, although that did not turn into a new relationship. Looking back, this is something I regret.

During National Service, I dated a Vietnamese woman who was working as a waitress. I met her because I was moonlighting at the same place on weekends. She was two years older than me, and her expectations were simple. Celebration meant places like Din Tai Fung or Crystal Jade, nothing fancy. Since I booked out daily, she stayed at my place with my parents. At that time, I genuinely thought we might get married. She returned to Vietnam when I was in my first year of university. I told her I would visit her in Hanoi someday, and we stayed in touch through WhatsApp and Facebook. Eventually, I met someone new in university and stopped contacting her. Occasionally, I still check her Facebook today, she’s still single and running a small pho stall in Hanoi.

In university, I dated a local girl, and the relationship was exhausting. Daily FaceTime calls, constant location updates, and celebrations that had to be at expensive or fancy places became the norm. I eventually broke up with her in my fourth year.

In my final semester, I met a PRC student who was pursuing her postgraduate studies. Dating her felt similar to dating a local girl, though in some ways she was even more demanding. That relationship ended after about a year.

Later on, at my workplace, I met another local girl, who is now my wife. Compared to my university girlfriend, she was less controlling, though she still had some similar habits. I eventually settled down at the age of 30.

Looking back, I regret cheating on the Malaysian girl. Sometimes I wonder how life would have turned out if I hadn’t. I also wonder what might have happened if I had stayed committed to the long-distance relationship with the Vietnamese woman, and whether it could have blossomed into something more.

Nice sharing, i had rather similar experience as you with malaysian & local girls.

Dated a ipoh girl back in poly also, there's a saying that 怡保出靓女:D Really down to earth girl, she used to travel daily between jb and sg for school. Very easy to date but maybe as you said, expectations were lower since still in school and she haven seen the world yet. Broke up after i enter army and she went to uni, she got some suitors and i was immature back then, jealously kills the relationship.

Dated a johor girl from workplace, maybe adult liao so expectations higher. I think upbringing also plays a part as she came from a well-to-do family, she only work here as she studied poly/uni in SG and have no interest in taking over her father business and have a brother who took over. She have really high standard for things, like for travelling like to go europe or those exotic place like egypt all this. Overall i do feel pressure as different SES. Broke up after she went to aus to do postgrad, long distance awhile before she asked to break up. She met a doctor there and eventually married so she probably cheated on me with him.

For the locals, yeah quite exhausting as they are more concern about keeping up with the jones. There just seems to be more comparing, like see who who who BF do this do that bla bla bla.

I wasted most of my 20s with the johor girl and was really hurt. After breaking up with her, i started cheonging and really enjoy single life now though

SG - Not easy to handle after long term. New Generation type always suddenly got depression etc, want to take a pause from relationship all those kind. Because of tiktok and higher standard of living, also now learn to develop the fake personalities for dating then after that pattern change quickly and expect alot from you, want you to pamper, suspect this and that or always possessive, ask you why take so long to reply. Good and kind ones also after marriage not very keen on sex.

Thai - Depends on which type, those got edu kind will be more long term nice and loving, usually want to take care of you more than you take care of them but as usual lah they like handsome guys and flirt around easliy behind your back. Those low edu type will try to gongtao you and leech your money buy branded but already got one secret bf / lover / friends with benefit those kind

Viet - Very nice at first then after that get more fierce. Those nice ones usually married their own VN guys but those fierce type usually have the courage to marry foreigners like us and try to suck the money up also easily cheat on you behind your back. After marriage. if whole kampong got health problems will ask you to sponsor help or share money buy one property condo etc

Pinoy - Lots of fakers. Money minded agenda for those who are working overseas. But the local kind ones over there are nice but after dating awhile also you see the pattern come out, will go out more with their friends and forever telling you about her stories at home / work etc but if you lucky and get more usually more horny than usual, they will do their best to love and please you but very possessive and sometimes headache.

Indo - This one if you get the good girl type, usually will treat you nice but overall very lazy girls. Money minded also especially when they know you are foreigner. But if you get the indo - chinese rich ones then must make sure you meet their standards and tahan their parents rude side towards you.

My personal thoughts now is that all girls crave and need the same things, it just the way they express it or demand it is different.

1) security and protection- money, house, a faithful guy
2) love- they want to feel special in your eyes (this is why bad boys are popular, cause they feel special)
3) family- somehow linked to security and protection (they feel that you have more at stake and will likely be more committed as a family unit)
4) male leadership- it in their DNA (not the narcissitic kind but the one that you will step up and take charge when something goes very wrong)

Coming from observation and some experience, for SG girls, due to the way our education is structured and the environment we are it, , assuming those JC/poly/ uni kind,

uni date, after uni, BTO, get flat liao, ROM, ROM liao, honey moon travel and then plan for baby.

make baby liao, due to post partum, this one i feel things start to get a bit shakey .

then after that, they see like they wasted their life, looking at their friends either with " higher liftstyles" or something.

they can never be happy. sometimes, its just due to the environment we have down here.

While they are some really good local girls out there, those are snapped up in the early stages.

BTO ruined all element of surprise cause couple tend to BTO even before engagement.

in my 40s, my serious advice for young men:

1. Every country's girls (including SG) have good ones and bad ones. I personally think classification via country won't be accurate. Her upbringing and the friends/media that the girl consumes is a much better gauge.

2. Cheating is common among the young, both M and F. Not your fault. It's your hormones, always trying to look for a more attractive mate.

3. If you are a SG guy, consider being single. Work on yourself, your health and career. It's not worth getting married. you can always buy sex. again, it's not your fault. I personally believe it's very very hard to find a good girl in modern era (regardless of country) But please read the next point.

4. Most important point: If you intend to get married, only have sex with the person you intend to marry, regardless which stage of the relationship you are at. Because once you start cheonging, there is no going back. your wife/gf will NEVER fuck you as good as WLs. You will always think about WLs when sex with wife/gf becomes boring.

The fact that you are here at sammyboy means you are already exploring, which is not a good sign :D

This is just a perception and defence mechanism for the male ego which thinks our gals are our gals (can go down from country level to race level very easily).

This is part of the old school thinking which doesn't recognise an idividual as an individual

I get that some men or women have low libido.

If a couple both m and f both have low libido, marriage still possible, esp with no kids.

Self care with toys meh.

But if a normal couple is not having physical sexual intimacy , it’s a “big” problem.

Problem gets worse if the couple has kids.

One side or both sides will cheat and the problem will get worser.

I supposed depends on the individual's background, for instance if a lady grows up in S'pore with more perks example being ferried to places, being able to eat at restaurants and going on frequent overseas trips that will be the norm to them.

As compared to say ladies from other South East Asia countries that are not from as privileged a background.

I dated a Taiwanese for 2 years.

Yes they are pretty, willing to compromise in bed but they have a lot of expectations when it comes to $$$ (this is my observation based on hanging out with her other Taiwanese friends in Sg)

And they love to compare zzz

Maybe I just suay. Found the wrong one. But when you are young and have time on your side to try, why not? Pretty and willing to serve in bed :)

nah, social media destroys all users.

so easy to get phone even for rural girls. once a girl sees how other girls live a "good" life, they won't settle easily.

not their fault.

same for guys, we see pretty girls on social media, we don't settle for 'normal' girls.

not our fault :D

u might marry a rural girl but once you bring her back to sg, u give her phone, and you'll see how she change.

I agree. This is especially so for the foreign women who risk it all to come to SG. Do you really think they want to come all the way to SG and end up living like they did back in their home country? If tgey did might as well they just remain in the home country

If you’re just looking for something casual, then yes—there’s often that element of impressing each other, building attraction, and keeping things exciting.

But if you’re looking for a life partner, it’s a different approach. Start as friends and let things develop naturally.

How can you know if someone is truly suitable if you barely know each other?

Take the time to understand:

* Do you share similar interests or values?
* Can you connect intellectually and hold meaningful conversations?
* Is communication easy and honest between both of you?
* Can you handle disagreements and resolve conflicts calmly?
* Are they a team player—someone who can share responsibilities and support each other?
* Can both of you plan, save, and work towards common goals?

And when you start thinking long-term:

* Can you agree on where and how to live?
* Do you align on lifestyle choices, home planning, even things like renovation style?
* Are you on the same page about marriage?
* If you want children, do you share similar values in raising them?

There’s a long journey ahead.

If you want to find a good partner, you also need to be a good partner.

sane

Before you look for a partner, figure out what you actually want.

If it’s just sex or FWB — be honest. Don’t waste people’s time.

If you’re looking for a wife, then think properly.
This is a partnership — like running a business together.

What’s the goal?

And more importantly — are you even a good teammate?

Are you helpful?
Do you take initiative?
Can you plan ahead?

Or do you rely on your mother for everything?

Can you even handle your own life —
laundry, cooking, basic responsibilities?

And be real with yourself —
are you stable enough to stay faithful?

Then think about the kind of partner you want.

If you prioritize looks, are you ready for what comes with it?
Spending habits? Lifestyle expectations?

Then comes everything else:

Travel
Marriage
House
Kids
Confinement
In-laws

It doesn’t stop.

So what’s the financial plan?
Your career vs her career?
How are you raising your kids?

Too many people want the outcome
without being ready for the responsibility.

Figure yourself out first —
then bring someone else into your life
