Hi all, I’m considering starting PrEP and would like to hear from people in Singapore who are currently on it or have experience with it.

A few questions:

1. Which clinics would you recommend for getting PrEP in Singapore?
2. How much does it typically cost (consultation, tests, medication, follow-up appointments, etc.)?
3. Is it true that I need to continue taking PrEP for as long as I’m sexually active and at risk?
4. What side effects did you experience, if any?
5. Are there any long-term health concerns or things I should monitor while on PrEP?

I’m mainly looking for a clinic that is professional, discreet, and reasonably priced.

Would appreciate if anyone could share their recent costs and experiences. Thanks in advance

1 and 2. Recommended
DSC Clinic @ Kelantan Lane ( no need referral letter from polyclinic or GP). Email enquiry and appointment: [email protected]
Tel: 6293 9648
DCS consulation is around est $25-$65
HIV Screening Test: about est $20-$35 ( a must to do before you can proceed to take PREP, you might also need to do other test on top of the HIV screening test, if your hiv test result is negative, then u can either purchased the branded PrEP est SGD400-500 month), or generic PrEP (need prescription) , from DCS recommended online website@ est $100 (1-3 months supply).

3. Unless you are always exposing yourself to high risk sexual activities ( e.g engaging in unprotected sex regularly with WL.) i DONT think you need PREP, condom is a must and there is always a PEP option if necessary

4. common side effects includes headache, Nausea & Vomiting: Stomach Discomfort, Diarrhoea ,Fatigue etc.. but it should subside after 3-4 weeks.

5. Bone Density Loss and Kidney Function Decline (that is why it is recommended to do a Kidney Function test if you are on long term PREP).

Thank you so much for the comprehensive information!

You mentioned PEP as an alternative to PrEP if the situation requires. Can you share the estimated cost of PEP ?

Thanks!

from what i remember it range from 1K to 2.7 K

just do a search, there are load of info shared here in SBF, however do note PEP should be done within 72hours after exposure..the earlier the better

Given the cost, you can fly to HCM city and visit Galant clinic (proper one).
Under 30 bucks for PEP and like 15 bucks for PreP, and you can buy a few as they last for a few years. Along the way, enjoy the girls there as well :D
I think my plan will be to fly there every half a year, do the tests (also much cheap) and buy the pills.

Not sure if BKK is same price, anyone can advise?

If you live in SG and go to JB doc, get tests and prescription is it allowed to bring back the medication to SG? I quickly checked in the internet and received some info that must be prescribed by doctor of country of residency.
