SINGAPORE : Police have busted a vice syndicate suspected of selling sex services online.

Two men and three women, aged between 23 and 30 years, were arrested on Tuesday.

Officers from the Central Police Division nabbed the first four suspects during an operation at a hotel along Belilios Road in Little India on Tuesday.

The fifth suspect was arrested at Yishun later the same day.

S$1,820 cash, condoms, notebooks, handphones and a laptop were also seized.

This is the second online sex service syndicate — operating from a hotel — that was busted by the police in less than a month.

The police said they will continue to work with hotel owners to clamp down on vice activities.

Under the Hotels Licensing Regulations, prostitutes are forbidden in the premises of licensed hotels.

Hotel licensees who fail to comply with the regulations can be fined up to S$2,000, and face suspension or cancellation of their operation licences.

Persons found guilty of offences under the Women’s Charter may be fined up to S$10,000 and jailed for up to five years. Repeat male offenders may face caning.
