Wanna go JB tonight and was kinda turned off as I saw a massive jam from JB to Mandai. What is going on? Heard from my friend that he kena stuck at Tuas check point (Malaysia side) for more than 5 hours. I had never witness such a jam in my life. Heard that Malaysia immigration impose some new regulations. Hope things can be resolve soon .

I am not a PR.. The Sticker that you are refering to is for Frequent Travellers to Malaysia and it is for a period of one year. All you have to do is to scan your passport when in Malaysia and you don't have to have it stamped. That way, it will help you to save on the pages of the passport.

Yup, it was in the newspaper....all non-malaysians have to take their biometric hand scan...so everyone inside the car has to come out and have their hand scan...this is on top of the passport check and stamping...u include handscan...we all know sometimes biometric systems have problems detecting the scan will will produce errors...if the officers do not know how to rectify the problems....a lot of delays...and hence the big massive jam...image...small children also has to scan...what about babies??!!

Saturday's supposed to be a public holiday ...so I don't know if they made Monday a holiday too, making it an extended weekend.
It was equally jammed from KL to Malacca. I travelled at 10:30am, but a journey which usually takes 1:15, ended up as an almost 4-hour trip.

I trust that the Malaysian goverment just do not know how to solve the problem Someone sold the machine and make a big profit and now caused this big jam. It is so stupic to make everyone to come down from the car to scan their finger. Singaporean should just stay away from JB for a while and let them know how the Johor economy will suffer without Singaporean. This will help to wake up the Malaysian authorities.

Think about it going in about 12 pm eat fancy lunch buy groceries shopping and dinner and full tank of petrol in car before coming back singapore. (massage for some bro over here also lol)

Finally went there last night at 2330 hrs...and reached JB at 0100 hours...traffic was still heavy. No biometric scan is done...perhaps lots of complains came in. ..Just now came back at 2000 hours..heavy traffic was sighted at JB immigration heading back to spore (Lion city spa area)....Was kinda surprise that both the directions in causeway traffic conditions was very good and no jams....Hope every weekend will have this situation. Anyway I saw the biometric scanner on the immigration counter and was not in use...Pls pls dont use it...

I totally agree that even if Singaporeans do not come at all to JB, there will be sustainable damage in the economy in Malaysia, not even in the long run of 150 years.
(APPLE TO APPLE COMPARISON)
For every Singaporean who have travelled to Malaysia:
(1) Inflation of food: Claypot rice now costs RM 8.50 a pot vs SGD 3.80 a pot.
(2) Inflation of goods: When there is a promotion of diapers, eg Mamy Poko selling at RM 49.90 per pack, they clear the shelves as if it is foc, and by the time I reach a hypermarket shelve, all kena sapu! I witness one Sg registered vehicle loading up the whole Renault Kangoo with diapers!
(3) Petrol subsidy: Malaysians pay tax, and Singaporeans get to enjoy the subsidised rate of fuel???
(4) Inflation of rental: Places such as Pelangi, rental cost have shot up to RM 850 per 3 bedroom, when the property evaluator actually defines RM 250 per month.
(5) Inflation of services: One shot 45 minutes costs RM 200 vs SGD 80.
(6) Traffic Jam: Travelling time along Tebrau highway has significantly increased to 1 hour 15 minutes instead of a normal 40 minutes.
Conclusion: Imagine how people with a salary of RM3000 able to survive in JB.

I beg to differ.
Both countries will be able to maintain status quo. No inflation in JB and no traffic jams in Singapore.
This would still be a win-win situation, if you look at the macro economy. Read some economy text books though.

I agree that Malaysian Gov subsidies are good though, but not as good as Brunei:
(1) Petrol in Malaysia (RON 97) RM 1.90 vs petrol in Brunei (RON 97) BNR 0.20.
(2) Medical fee for gov hospitals mandatory RM 1.00 for civil servants RM 10 - RM 300 (ceiling) for non civil servants. That's why I spent RM 1,500.00 every month (Family of 5) for insurance, so that can get first class medical treatment in specialist hospitals.
(3) Water is cheaper compared to Singapore but apple to apple is still more expensive. e.g. RM 0.20 per 10m3 vs SGD 0.15 per 10m3. Electricity tariff has also gone up.
(4) Education (government higher insitution) practices a racial quota system, which results the majority of non-malays to persue higher education in private institution. e.g. RM 1,600,000 to pursue a medical course overseas vs RM 120,000 in government institution.
Please correct me if any of my statement is not true.

By making this statement, i guess u are very ignorant of situation. When singaporeans go into malaysia, the malaysians are the ones who suffer and only a small handful benefit. Ever wondered why the roads outside the shell station near customs exit is so bumpy and bulging? Because that station belongs to johor sultan, which means road must accomodate his station, and not his station accomodate the road. Hence he conveniently saved money from not levelling the soil, and instead built an awkward exit onto the road. In fact, most of the businesses that sporeans patronize in JB, such as malls, gas stations, belong to or are partly owned by certain politicians. The majority malaysians do not benefit and actually suffer from sporeans visiting JB. They pay taxes to subsidise singaporeans pumping petrol, how could it be beneficial?
Furthermore, living expenses are artificially jacked up by the presence of sporeans. Duck rice RM6 when it used to be RM3-4. And prices in jusco etc are also pegged to spore prices. Anything that singaporeans find cheap in JB eventually become expensive. The only reason why malaysia still welcomes sporeans to shop is because it benefits the politicians through their private holdings and as we all know, politicians dun give a shit about how the people suffer as long as it works out for themselves.
I hold a malaysian passport but grew up in singapore in a hdb and sing the majulah singapura in my school years. And looking at the situation from an unbiased pov, i say sporeans got more to lose from not visiting JB. The locals will find food more affordable, housing cheaper and less traffic.

Ur above comment oso appear to be so resemble the little red dot too. With the influx of FTs including Msians, every damn expenses have gone up! Fm housing cost, medical bills, etc etc etc. Jobs tat were not taken up by locals or not qualified by locals, should be given to FTs. The Malaysian Government don't care if the people driving got stuck in the jam for 7 hours. They don't care if old people stood and waited for 3 hours in the queue, fainted and can't go to the toilet.:o
Since they bought the finger-scan equipment, they must make sure to use it.
They even started this new system on Labour Day, and also during the school holdidays. They already knew that many Singaporeans will be travelling to Malaysia during this period, but they simply bo-chap!!!
I don't know whether the Malaysian Government did it out of sheer stupidity, or they did it on purpose. If they really want to put the new system on trial, they shouldn't have started it on 1 May or 1 June.

the sticker only last for one year and Rm30, for those regular travel to JB at least twice a week. :)
Even in singapore where we have used biometric scan for automated clearance for citizens and PR for many years, people don't know how to use it.
They know how to head for the biometric queue, but don't know how to press their thumb down properly.
Bad enough at the airport, at the woodlands train station, so many don't know that the biometric queue is slower than the manual queue.

correction ! the index finger scanning is only done once, small sticker still pasted on the stamped date. this procedure should not take up much time?? why jam so badly ?

Normally during school holidays, i choose not to go jb due to the heavy traffic. If really want to go Malaysia for a tour, I'll travel by coach or sometimes by ferry (go Desaru).

but not everyone gg to appy for this? only for regular visitors at least visit twice a week, when u submit the application from they will spot check the passport. Similarly, for toll not everyone buy the "touch n go" card right? we always see the left hand side of the toll always long Q? Touch n Go sys is a very good one. No jam at all.:)
This is my second year renew for these entry pass. You must hv at least 4 entry to JB in a month. RM 30 is worth if u frequent 2-3 times a week if not our passport fully stamp less than a year m hv to pay $70 to apply a new one. Same time too to fill white card n save for the recent finger scan system but still JB to wait lo.

What a timing to start the system, during June school holidays??? They should start the thingy by phrases so as not to create jams...

They still have the gall to ask for patience, as their officers are also trying to get used to the finger scan system.
As for starting the new system during the school holidays, only the Malaysian Government can think of that! tsk... tsk... Malaysia boleh?!!!

At the custom before clearance. If you take bus, you can see before u get your passport chopped. If drive, u park at Sentral n walk to customs. There u ask for directions. Hope it helps.
