My Fillial Daughter

It has already been a known fact that Thai WLs often use emotional tricks to con men out of their money. To the men, losing money is small, but the heartache gained from the relationship is something not many can get in today's real life society.

There are already many threads talking about the pitfalls of falling in love with a WL. There are many stories talking about how these WL con for a living. With the story from The Private Dancer by Stephen Leather (http://www.sammyboyforum.com/showthread.php?t=14894), many people already knew what the Thai WLs can do.

But today, I am not going to go into the discussion of these WLs in the above aspects. I am going to talk about the reasons as to why these WLs have to work in this trade.

Wait a minute, its about money right? Of course its more or less going to revolve around the topic of money. But then again to what purpose is this money being used for?

It mainly boils down to FAMILY, FAMILY, FAMILY.

For those with tiraks before or now, you will realise that most often than not, there is a serious problem which is not being discussed. We were often hyped up with their tricks, KCs so on and so forth, neglecting the reason why they use all this tricks for.

And of course this time IN THIS THREAD, I prefer not to "condemn" the WLs anymore. That part, you guys can go to the Private Dancer Thread (http://www.sammyboyforum.com/showthread.php?t=14894). Its now time to bring out the knives and see the real culprits being laid on the butcher's table.

Some may get offended by the comments I am going to make on the families of the WLs. I hereby put a disclaimer for it first, not every family in thailand is like that. Of course, this thread is not going to paint the WLs in a better light. It's going to bring out the root of the WLs problems. Their FAMILY.

I am sure those with tiraks, you going to realise soon why you are in so much agony over such a relationship.

I will first deal with the "superficial" part of this thread before going more in depth as days go by.

Ever wonder why Thai Girls work in the trade?
For money definitely. If not for orgasm?
So what we going to think about is what is the money actually meant for?
I would say 95% of them actually does this for their FAMILY.

So since the majority is on the FAMILY, we shall talk about the FAMILY.

What common characteristics does the FAMILY have?
2 parents, couple of brothers, sisters. Normal? Not really.

The thai girl that works often is the only one out of the whole family working in the flesh trade. Even with a couple of sisters, you will realise that she will be the odd one out providing the most dough. Fillial Piety or Plain stupidity? I leave it to you guys to judge.

Does the Family knows their daughter is working in the flesh trade?
Sometimes I would say they are trying to act stupid when they think their daughter is doing a decent job and giving them 5 figure amounts monthly. Which job can get that kind of money when they do not have the money to give their child a good education?

What does the Family do with so much money actually since it comes in every month?
Money earned have to be spent, not kept in the bank. Buying a new land, build a new house, buy a new car, more funds for gambling, more money to show off to other villagers, and of course FACE.

to be continued...

I am not a Thai by birth, so I can't really comment on what type of upbringing Thai kids are brought up when they are small. The kind of culture they are exposed to.

Maybe let me pose a simple question. If today in Singapore, your parents racked up huge amount of gambling debts, will any of you (in the shoes of a daughter) go into the flesh trade to repay all the debts?
Supposedly, some will answer YES. No qualms about it. Everyone makes mistakes, so once in a while, to help and start all over again is part and parcel of life too.

But then since help can come once, the indulgent parents go for more gambling and chalking up more debts (which is most often the case), will you still continue in the trade?
This time the question becomes clearer. Clearing debts doesn't mean helping, it means causing them to go down even further. But to a Thai girl, she simply will continue being in the FLESH Trade, to bring her family out of poverty( which in this case is self-made)

Sometimes these families got to thank their lucky stars for letting them have a decent looking daughter or even a pretty one. If their daughter is ugly, the more years of hardship they got to follow.

What SC have posted is quite realistic.

For Thai WL, if you ever want to marry them, it's a "love me, love my family" concept. The family is important to them as they have gone thru a vicious circle in bring back money to the family.

I don't think it should be phrased as "love me, love my family" concept. More of a "love me, take care my whole FAMILY" concept. :p

How much does a family need in a province?
Many will be surprised that it can rack up to any amounts above 30-50K monthly. But its true.
Often than not, money for the father, mother. Money for the younger brother, sister education. Money to help out the sister who doesn't have enough. Money to help the brother who gambles and doesn't have money to pay debts. Money to buy a car. Money to maintain the motorcycle. Money here money there.

One would think if you are RICH, this kind of problem will not be a problem at all
On the contrary, the more money you have, the more money you need to pay them and it seems like a bottomless pit.

Check the keywords. MONEY MONEY MONEY $$$$. The international language that anyone will understand even if you don't understand THAI. Another keyword, FAMILY.

Why do thai tell lies?

An extract:

If your girlfriend used to be a hooker, then she is already addicted to fucking other men for pleasure and profit and will never change. She assumed that you knew this and would ignore her infidelities so long as she was discreet. She lied to save your feelings and your face. You must either put up with it, or find a respectable girl. It’s your call.

http://www.mangosauce.com/archives/000025.html

Why do nice guys marry Thai prostitutes?

http://www.mangosauce.com/archives/000027.html

Many stories on the above, this thread discussing on the back end issues on where the money goes to. :p

We've been taught since childhood to despise prostitution as an immoral conduct. But the reality is poverty, or intense poverty, can often breach that moral threshold. With the ingress of easy money, materialism rears its ugly head, and luxury once tasted then becomes a necessity.

Many a time I wonder why the guys prefer WLs and not the ordinary thai girls with a decent job as their tirak. If you've been to the shopping departmental stores, such as Robinson in Bangkok, you will notice that some of the girls are quite pretty too. Not forgetting the hotel receptionists too.

this topic has been broached briefly in the Stephen Leather thread. kudos to SC for making it into a whole topic by itself. as he mentioned, all bros who ever have had thai tiraks will identify with all he mentioned.

in my opinion its always been a learning process bring with TGs. more so with WL as they are all from villages in the poorer parts of thailand. thus their sense of family piety is very strong. to them any sacrifice is worth it as long as their familiy is well taken care off. the most important figure is their mother. they do not have to be the oldest to bear this responsibility - just the one with the ability to rake in the most bahts. i think its part of their social more.

a friend once told me once his TG fg gets a call from her family in the morning her mood would change. as usual they will be asking for money. they only to perk her up is that he offers to "chuay" (help). its a never ending cycle. one has to be aware that if you are with a TG WL, the family is part of the package.

Life is bad enough for them.

Thank goodness we have our good life now.

Wonder how no earth we get in contact with us?

Don't blame them, blame ourselves for giving in to temptation.

Never ask why, ask yourself, point the finger but there are 3 more pointing back.

How bad are they... but we are not much better either.

Forgive and forget, Life goes on...

We owe them nothing and they don't owe us anything.

Karma will always come back to haunt us.

Just be grateful we have a better life than them.

Oo ni tou fu... Amen...

I second to that.

I am sure we are not poor but not welled off. If given the sudden wealth, what would you or your family do? It does happen in Singapore. Many sad cases you read in the newspaper. We are human afterall... Greed!

Prostitution is one of the oldest trade around. Not only in Thailand you find them, in proverty countries like Cambodia, Vietman, Indonesia etc... Singapore not very common. Our goverment able to provide better standard of living, education and growth for the economy. Our women received better education than them, able to find work and be independent.

But sad for them, their country not so well-off as us. Women not treated equally, opportunities not abandon. Their economy not as strong as ours, given normal jobs they still earn much lesser than us.

Nobody wants to be poor, but you can't choose to born with the rich.

Bless ourselves for having good life now. Never know what will happen if we are like them. So don't compare and be proud. What won't know what hold for us in the future. Just be humble and live peacefully.

Its not why we prefer WLs. Its because we go for cheonging, thats why we kenna. Some form of a karma. Good or Bad depending on how you see it. As usual the knowing of the TG is not so much of a problem. The real problems surfaces when you get to know the FAMILY.

And of course, the bigger the family, the more problems you see. And most often than not, these problems can be settled easily with $$$. The more $$$ you have, the more problems you can settle.

The objective of being in the Flesh trade is for the $$$. The motive to earn more $$$ is for the FAMILY. The appetite is huge. Imagine the FAMILY in thailand can use more money than a typical SINGAPORE Family use. So much for the low cost of living, the so called exchange rates.

How much is ENOUGH?

Knowing her FAMILY is where the relationship ROCKS. Big Time Rocking.

This topic is close to my heart.

I don't think it has to do with karma. It's more like the unfortunate plight associated with most WLs that arouses our male instinct to sympathize and protect. But that is not the point. The point is WLs are motivated by money, and relationship, if any, is founded on money. Just like they gave up their dignity to extricate themselves from poverty, they will offer your relationship as a sacrifice for more money. The bottomline is the same.

And it sometimes come to a point of time, how much is enough?
I have been wondering when these WLs come to the age of late 30s, 40s, without a spouse, without savings, without money, does the FAMILY still get money from her? It becomes a case where she no longer have any "ADDED VALUE".

Sometimes to sound it in a crude manner, as long as the FAMILY don't die, the WL will have to probably work till she die.

We can talk until the cow comes home. Why not just let WLs be WLs and us to be just paid customers of them. Whatever happen to anybody here in relationship with them, let bygones be bygones. Forgive and forget. As we grow older and wiser, there are better things to do in life than to moan about past relationships with a WLs.

I think you may've misunderstood my message. My point is dignity is the most precious quality in a person. If a person is prepared or forced to sell her dignity, a relationship with a customer turned tirak means little in comparison. (Don't ask me who robbed them of their dignity. It's beside the point).

The thing that I wonder is which is a stronger motivation : getting out of poverty or the love for their families.

That's a fact no one can deny. They're in the trade for whatever reasons they have. I'm not interested in the reasons. A large percentage of them is doing it to support their family. And sad but true most of the time they're supporting a bunch of lazy asses. Don't forget about the whiskey expenses too. You can go survey if don't believe. Hehehe. :D

Back to the topic. The family and the 'piichai'.

The environment has brought them to such state. In rural China, there are many as well. Blame it on their country or policy. Rural areas often are neglected. These people worked their ass off but get back only 'peanuts'. Sending their kids to the City to work could bring in more than they work on the padi.

Sometimes, its not up to us to criticise them. We were born lucky. Especially in Singapore. More often than not, we Singaporean are the complain lot. Life compare life, only anger you to death.

Put yourself in their shoe, what would you do if you can't find a job in the City, but got to slog like hell on an agriculture field that reaps little return?

Err, this is not a complaint thread. Like FRs, this area we touching on is for discussion, not for complaints. It will let others open their mind for the cultural difference and the core REASON why Thai Girls need the money for and using it on.

We cannot dictate how one spend their money, but it sometime makes people wonder why the FAMILY need so much $$$. Is there a wrong cultural upbringing somewhere that many Thai men are lazy? The Thai Ladies say Thai Men Kee Kiat(Lazy), but yet often than not, the money goes to them. Irony:D

Dun think it's ever enough. I remembered asking a WL how much the family needs per month & how long she intends to work. She just answered me in 2 words - "Don't know"

Guess it's gonna be a long way before she really retired or knows what to do to get out of it. If the WL can deliver this type of money 1st time, why not 2nd, 3rd & subsequently?

The shelf life for WLs is quite short, considering that they aged faster due to the nature of their work, and it also shows on their faces. Now who would like to bonk an old hag? Eg. a 25 yo WL may look like she's in her 30s already!!
Almost all man like SYTs!

Maybe by the time she can stop, it becomes a case of she being an old spinster which may have a lot of difficulties getting married. Marry an ex WL who is an old haggard? How many man can take this? Then this becomes a case of an additional worthless mouth to feed to the family.

No matter how much you tried to tell them this, they will always have the "Family comes first. We can even break up for all I care!" thinking if she has a boyfriend. Guess they must have been brainwashed since young.

Nobody will complain money is enough. Do you complain money is enough for you? I am sure not. I have no comment on their upbringing, take a look at yourself and for the matter ourselves first before we whack on someone else family. I wouldn't say our upbringing is perfect and that now I am a perfect man. We indulge in commercial sex. We visit Thailand and look for WLs. Just go there and enjoy whatever they have and whenever you are still young, single and available.

Why must we question about their family, their background the mouths they feed. Our impression isn't good to any girls out there... even for the WLs. They are in the trade for money, I am sure they don't do it because they enjoy it! Likewise, you find WLs because you cannot resist the temptation. Both of us not perfect already. So why kicking a big fuss over what they are doing with their family? So when you go booking a WL, do you do background check on their family? What they say and what they tell you, just take it with a pinch of salt.

We are there, we enjoy ourselves... end of the day we fuck and we fuck off. Simple business transaction. Don't ask to much or don't criticise too much. Unless you want a WL for a life partner.

Why some can work in supermarkets while some chose the flesh trade? That's not my business. But what intrigues me is the indulgence of the WL to constantly feed the lazy asses.

This example might be a little extreme but I'm sure the theory is the same. If you know your brother is a drug addict. Do you still continue to give him money to buy drugs? Or you fuck him up big time to tell him to wake up his idea? Even to the point that he may sever ties with you if you report him for rehabilitation. I'm sure most of us will do that. If not it'll just get deeper.

However the WL will still feed the family member even with the knowledge the money is being squandered. They won't ask too many questions as long as they feel they are doing their duty. Less confrontations = no loss of face. FACE & MONEY. Remember these two words. We can throw away our own face to save our loved ones. They won't.

My friend that's one example of the culture difference between Singapore and Thai culture.

Take a look this way. Why some men can have a decent life and not indulge in casual sex or paid sex and why some men can have sex very casually? Theory is the same, every family has it own problem where the chinese saying: 'Jia Jia You ben Nan Nian De Jing'. The better question is have we sorted out our own family problems or have we even sorted ourselves out?

We are no saint going around telling people to server ties with their family members. I am sure if your family members like your sisters or mother found out you indulge one of the vices such as commercial sex or casual sex, do you think they will sever ties with you?

Look at it this way, we are now talking about people's family being pure lazy asses. But what about others who see us as basically good for nothing, wasting money piece of asshole who just want to get laid? Aren't we suppose to work hard, save that money, look for a good wife and take good care of our family and our parents?

Look at ourselves first before we talk about someone else family. Its not up to us to comment cos we are no better either.

Unless you want a WL for a life partner.

it's a discussion topic at the end of the day because this is a forum. No one is kicking up a big fuss. No one is doing background checking. We are just discussing about the cultural difference in this certain aspect.

People can discuss political topics, car topics, computer topics, sex topics, and even cultural topics. You discuss what topics you like and whatever topics you don't like, you can choose not to discuss.

So what are the topics you like? The ones that you like may not be the ones I am interested. So doesn't mean I got to stick in and say hey, "Why are you bothering about the fundamentals of A, B and C. Just go for the end result. But then you may be interested in History."

Bottomline is this: a topic for discussion is just for discussing.

The one getting uptight here isn't me. :D

back to the topic on the FAMILY then.

I got a job, I earn my keep. I use my money to bonk. I decide how I spend my money. I wouldn't be like "those whom I am talking about", getting money from other source and spending it on gambling, drugs, women.

Thats the difference. If today I am getting my money from someone else to spend on gambling, drugs, women, then of course I see the finger being pointed back at me.

And lastly, I SMELL FLAME

Actually its just a topic which I think its worth touching on.
We often only read about how KC the girls are, how men fall into love traps, how men fall head over heels over them. But this topic will bring another perspective on how we see things.

It's not something that the normal Joe sees. What is posted is the truth. Knowing something extra don't harm the readers. But of course, i don't encourage people upon seeing the happenings in this thread to give their "sympathies" to the girls.

Its been a while, and I see this dicussion thread becoming a "Hot" topic.

here are some personal observations gained from my trips and interactions with TGs (WLs mostly) and more recently even Non WLs.

I ask why they prefer daughters or girls , cos girls and daughters tend to take care of their family even if They are married off , they always have thier own family in mind (until they have their own children). Boys /sons once married just need to take care of wife and new family, and do what they want.

I don't think only the TGs do that, in fact everyone does that.

It's the basic family values that is in us. Perhaps it's being "burnt" into them that the values are being over-empasized?

It's a "culture" to them which even if they are the smarter ones, there's no saying "enough is enough".

If you tried to teach them to understand about fairness, etc or that they should think for themselves and not let the family live off them unfairly, you will be branded by them as trying to break her from her family.

Try to understand, that many of them has also gone into unfulfilled relationships both with local guys or foreigns. During such relationship, don't you think the guy would have tried to teach them such matters?

Never say bad things about their FAMILY in front of them, even how bad they are.
Never condemn them. Never stop them from loving a black sheep/s from the FAMILY.

In short, keep the comments close to heart, even if you know it.

I think the bottomline is the "education" part. The "education" part on how to use money wisely. To them using money on gambling, building beautiful houses, buying land and car is considered using money wisely. Certain times yes, certain times not.

I would say that even if one marries a normal TG (non WL), sometimes the FAMILY do come into the picture too.

In my opinion, thai girls are very fillial.

They can forgo their dignity, their body, their youth, earn as much money as possible, give their parents. Stupid or Fillial, I can't answer though.

When they reach marriageable age, they forgo marriage, they can forgo those who love them, to earn as much money as possible for their parents. Stupid or Fillial, I can't answer again.

When they decide to "hang up their career", they have crossed their expiry date. They will stay with their parents and take care of them till the parents pass away. How about having a family? They don't think of that. The answer they give you
"My sister and brother have families themselves and they will carry the family line. They have their own families and I being the odd one out will be the one to take care of my Parents."

Stupid or Fillial, I can answer. Fillial to the extend of being stupid.

Hold back your hankies, never shed a single tear over it. Because it happens everywhere especially in povern stricken countries.

I have read this thread with great interest and after some thought, would like to offer another point of view to those posted by bro SC. I will do so by looking at the questions posted by SC… I know the info is haphazard, and hope they make sense.

Ever wonder why Thai Girls work in the trade?

Several answers to that… In countries with large income disparities between the rural villages (in Thailand’s case the North and Northeast regions) and the urban centres (namely Bangkok) is huge. An example is the average income of a family in the rural North and Northeast is ฿10,000 – ฿15,000 per annum. In the urban centres, a fresh university graduate will earn a starting salary of between ฿7,000 – ฿10,000 per month (i.e.฿72,000 – ฿120,000 per annum). Therefore the rural family’s annual contribution to the economy is 13% of that of the urban fresh graduate.

Look at the same comparison in Singapore, say a factory worker in Singapore with an income of $800 per month and a fresh graduate with $1,800 per month. The percentage of contribution to the economy by the former vs. the latter is 44%.

The above two statistics tell you that as a more developed economy, our income disparity is less apparent as that of the Thai rural North vs. urban centre.

What this tells you is that obviously job opportunities are lacking in the rural north, be it due to poverty led lack of demand.

Coupled with a high level of illiteracy, these girls have very little chance of getting a job other than working as WLs. Of course there are those who manage to do so and work as office workers (office girls, cleaning ladies, etc.). This will give them a monthly income of no more than ฿5,000. Assuming they spend about half of it on lodging, and daily expenses like food and transport, they would (highly unlikely) send back ฿2,500 per month…

Of course those who are able (due to looks) stand a chance to go into the flesh trade where incomes of ฿50,000 are not impossible.

There are of course those who go into the trade for other reasons, like feeding a drug/alcohol habit (be it themselves or their partners) or a means for quick and easy money.

However, there’s almost always an underlying goal for all WLs – to be the next Julia Roberts ala Pretty Woman and hook a rich man who will take them out of the misery of providing sex for cash.

What common characteristics does the FAMILY have?

In this instance, I assume you’re talking about the Northern/Northeastern rural regions.

The family is usually bigger than that of the urban centres. Being less literate than the urban centres, these unskilled workers are only able to participate in the agriculture sector. However the level of agriculture is usually below subsistence level (i.e. what they plant is barely enough to feed themselves, let alone to sell in the market). The reason for this is because it is believed that the lands there are less fertile than those in the South.

Those who manage to convert cash for their crops are only productive during the harvesting season, which is about 4 months in all!

Where there is a family member who is able (because of minimal schooling, looks, etc.), money would be saved (or borrowed) to send her to work in the urban centres where the income levels are higher.

The said family member, thus becomes the breadwinner of the family.

Another interesting point to note of the rural family, is that don’t be surprised that the father may have 6 kids, who may be born out of more than one woman.

Sometimes, a daughter is a daughter not by birth, but adoption. Assume if the father who had a sibling who died in an accident with his spouse, the father may then adopt and raise the child as his own.

Sometimes this is because he had a fling and decided to take care of the kid who resulted from it. Got to do with some Buddhist thingy or something.

Does the Family knows their daughter is working in the flesh trade?

Contrary to what many WLs would lead us to believe, the families by and large know that their daughters are participating in the flesh trade. They just erase it from their consiousness.

farark
19-10-2004, 06:19 PM
What does the Family do with so much money actually since it comes in every month?

Like a large proportion of minority people living below the poverty line, there is very little idea to the value of money… Having being used to living hand to mouth, the concept of savings elude them, many a times, the money will be spent on alcohol/substance abuse and/or other frivolous items.

Why? Simple, they think that such spendings should be done now, than later as they had suffered throughout the years. They have already spent many years etching out a living, it’s time to enjoy themselves.

A comparison can be made to the North American Indians and Australian Aborigines on this behavioural pattern.

Maybe let me pose a simple question. If today in Singapore, your parents racked up huge amount of gambling debts, will any of you (in the shoes of a daughter) go into the flesh trade to repay all the debts?

In the Singaporean context, if your parents racked up huge amounts of gambling debts, it is not necessary to go into the flesh trade to repay the debts. Why? Because the laws in Singapore allows people to seek the protection of the courts and declare bankruptcy.

Assume a your father has gambling debts totaling $200,000 and his annual income were $30,000, looking at it, if he tries to repay it with half his annual income, it will take him 13 years and four months to repay that debt. Of course, this does not take into account the interest charged by financial institutions/loan sharks. With the former, just declare bankruptcy whereas with the latter, call police, see if the loansharks can do anything against you.

Transporting back to the Thai villager in the North with an income of ฿15,000 pa and debts of ฿200,000. At half his annual income used to repay the loan, the poor bugger (pun intended) would need 26 years 6 months to pay off that loan. Of course this does not take into account of interests charged by loansharks. Financial institutions not mentioned here, because these people cannot secure loans, therefore bankruptcy is not an option. With loansharks, try calling police in the for assistance. They’ll just watch the whole family get slaughtered for non payment, then come in and record another unsolved mystery.

Now, if you were a daughter who through no fault of yours, look slightly presentable and able to make the money as a WL to pay off the debt. Under the second circumstance, would you just say fuck it and let them die (in case you’re there as well, maybe you also die)?

farark
19-10-2004, 06:21 PM
But then since help can come once, the indulgent parents go for more gambling and chalking up more debts (which is most often the case), will you still continue in the trade?[

Parents who continue to chalk up more debts gambling? Some points to note. In many cases, gambling to the poor is an avenue to make it big… To get out of poverty. You may say it’s bullshit, but hey, we’re looking at it from the point of view of the middle-class, not the illiterate and unwashed…

The best example, most punters in the Turf Club, 4D, Toto are probably from the lower income groups in Singapore. Why? As the Jack Neo movie 突然发财 said, you buy 4D, you get 50:50 chance (win:lose) of making it big… You don’t buy, you got no chance. That’s the mentality here…

If you were living in a life of endless work for pittance, what’s that $1 to punt on the next million dollar ticket at the totalisator?

Gambling is their only chance (albeit a mirage) of making it big

We live in an Asian society, unlike Singapore, many other Asian nations with less Western influences still stick to age old traditions of family values. Therefore they may see nothing wrong in providing for their family.

Looking back at what I mentioned about the common characteristics of the Thai family, if the daughter happened to be the bastard daughter born out of the wedlock of her father and step-mother, or she was the adopted daughter, she may use the ability to be the breadwinner to gain favour/status within the family

But what about the rest of the family living in the villages? Shouldn’t they be getting off their sorry asses and start working?

Of course they should, but as mentioned earlier several things may prevent that:

1. That farming is a labour intensive task and therefore manpower needed to tend the family plot.

2. When you eke a living making ฿15,000pa and suddenly the daughter sends back ฿30,000 a month, the windfall would bewilder anybody… How many people you know will take the Toto/4D winnings and save it?

3. Throughout history, the poor who suddenly had money would lavish themselves and their relatives with frivolous spending simply because they suddenly believe they had made it in life, hence the Chinese saying 爆发副. The sudden appearance income would explode their spending power…

4. Imagine you were the next Ronaldo and from the slums of urban Brazil. Your family being illiterate eke out a living begging and/or scavenging for food, whilst your elder brother takes care of the rest making US$20 a month in some mindless job. Your soccer skills are so great that you are offered a contract to play for Real Madrid with a monthly income of US$50,000.

Hate to say this, but you suddenly feel important and take on the role of the breadwinner, why? Because in your mind, the useless son who squandered his time kicking around with a ball suddenly makes good and can provide for the family. You would even ban your brother from working in that godforsaken job of his.

One would think if you are RICH, this kind of problem will not be a problem at all

I always believe in the adage that the poor will have their problems and so will the rich… Hey, when I first came out to work, I barely had enough money. Now, I’m probably earning at least twice of when I first started, but still I barely have enough money…

Unfortunately for many people, especially the less educated ones, when they make ฿15,000 pa, they spend all of it if not more…

Hence, when they suddenly have ฿360,000 pa, they’ll definitely know how to spend it all away…

Now, if after one year of receiving ฿30,000 per month and the money stops coming, what happens? Simple, they’ll all die… Because they have probably spent ฿50,000 per month thinking that the arrears could be settled the following month.

Conclusion

It is not my intention to criticize bro SC, I am looking at this from a macro perspective here. Unfortunately, the problem is seen by us in bewilderment because in Singapore, we are too used to our middle income/middle class status to fully make sense of what we deem to be obscene abuse by the family on the WLS.

All I can say that what we witness here is the viciousness of what poverty does to people and their psyche. Remember, these people are living from hand to mouth since they can remember. I may sound like I pity them and feel they are right, but on the contrary, I just hope that I have been as neutral as I set out to be.

So what can we do and what are the implications?

1. Fuck it and move on. As heartless as this may sound, in the first place, it is known that except for very rare circumstances, relationships with WLs are gonna be tough… Having a family to worry about will worsen the situation.

2. Convince the WL to run away from it all and live happily ever after. If you can then good for you, but sooner or later, she will miss her family so much that she will go back to them. If you prevent the inevitable, you’re simply planting resentment into your relationship with her.

3. Read up on Thaksinomics and help them to get out of poverty(?) What’s that? The only way out of this trap is to get in control and try to snap the family out of poverty and work with them to make them self sufficient. That way, they will make better persons of themselves. The most noble thing to do, but guess what?

They’ll hate you for it in the short term because the family is suddenly being run by some young punk know-it-all foreigner who is telling their daughter what they can or can’t do. But if the family is conducive to your control and you’re good at Thaksinomics, hey, who knows, you may get them out of poverty and make them self-sufficient. Noble as it is, tough… Look at Thaksin’s financial aids to the rural North, some families succeeded, but that is a small minority compared to the large numbers of pickup trucks and motorcycles bought with the government handout.

Just my 2 satang’s worth. :)

The family's thinking is very simple. Since she was able to earn so much within 2 years, surely she can do the same again.Do u know what's the real reason?
Not to say i'm religious or what but it's got to do with 'karma'.
The way they earn this money is due to doing a bad 'karma' so the money will not 'stay' with them for long.

In layman terms, it's easy come easy go. :(

Great views on the statistics, figures are around there more or less.
Every WL hopes that the guy they love will be RICH, but often than not the ones they love are not RICH. And sometimes really if no choice, they will choose the RICH rather than the LOVE.

In this instance, I assume you’re talking about the Northern/Northeastern rural regions.
I am talking about it in a general term. It includes the SOUTHERN part as well.

The family is usually bigger than that of the urban centres. Being less literate than the urban centres, … The reason for this is because it is believed that the lands there are less fertile than those in the South.

Another great insight.

Contrary to what many WLs would lead us to believe, the families by and large know that their daughters are participating in the flesh trade. They just erase it from their consiousness.
Consciousness can be erased, but it can never erase the TRUTH.

It’s time for Singapore Bashers to be Silenced. We do have bankruptcy laws to protect us(Jokes aside)
You are the man to give insight again and again. All the years of experience with Thai Girls gives you the wealth of experience.
In my opinion, there is nothing wrong to pay off the debt by going into the FLESH trade. Because that’s a last resort. However, when the debt is paid up, I supposed that’s the end of the story. Most often than not, new debts resurface. We are not going to touch on how these debts come about.
Helping Once, Helping Twice, Helping Thrice?????………..

Sad to say, most of us here bet or gamble to a certain extent. But good to say is most of us here BET WITHIN OUR MEANS. With a huge windfall, it can make or break a person. Making him to be successful with the cash on hand, or making him fall further into the demise of more gambling and more debts

Anyone can distribute as much wealth as possible to their loved ones, but the loved ones must know how to use it wisely. When big money is seen, the motivation to move up in life suddenly disappears.

If they have no money, they will not simply die. They adopt the works of Shakespeare
“Money is meant to be spent and spent. Once all is spent, more money has to be found to spend further”

Its "found" not "earned".

1. Fuck it and move on. As heartless as this may sound, in the first place, it is known that except for very rare circumstances, relationships with WLs are gonna be tough… Having a family to worry about will worsen the situation.

Noble as it is, tough… Look at Thaksin’s financial aids to the rural North, some families succeeded, but that is a small minority compared to the large numbers of pickup trucks and motorcycles bought with the government handout.
1.Relationship with a WL is tough. Relationship with a WL with a big family is tougher. Relationship with a WL with a big and poor family is the toughest.
Doesn’t it occur to anyone that those who fall in love with WLs with a small family (when I mean small, it means probably left only 1 sibling), the going is very much easier.

2.Never break up the FAMILY. Never badmouth the FAMILY in front of her. NEVER.

3.This 3rd point is worth lots of money. 2 million baht also not enough. Kekeke. Use your advantage as a foreigner. Give them DREAMS, give them HOPE. For that you will constantly need to MOTIVATE the FAMILY.

when the debt is paid up, I supposed that’s the end of the story. Most often than not, new debts resurface. We are not going to touch on how these debts come about.
Helping Once, Helping Twice, Helping Thrice?????………..

SC

to the poor, the dream never ends until they hit the "BIG " one. else it will always be the dream and they will be forever pursuing it. you have to remember they live at subsistence level and winning the lottey gives them the hope to go on with that job that pay 1000THB a month. its not by choice, its the environment that they grew up in. to them they never had the opportunity to think of future cos its so bleak... so everyday is drink and be merry for they do not know what tomorrow will be. thus the help will never end and its a vicious cycle.

i am not say they are rite or wrong... its the environment and we just have to accept the fact that they are living in a different world. we have to either accept the fact or accept the fact that loving a WL has only 1% chance of succeeding and making it to "pretty women" stage.

Thanks for the compliment. These insights may have little to do with "years of experience with Thai Girls", more so, I was unlucky (or some say lucky) enough to have gone through quite a few knocks here and there.

On the issue of when to stop helping... I have a personal experience to share. Many years ago when I was based in Australia, I came back for a holiday and met a girl (Singaporean). We fell in love very quickly and after a year of long distance relationship, I proposed. I even got my parents blessings to get help her over to Australia with PR status. She was excited, but alas, rejected me. Why?

She came from a poor family (by Singapore's standards) with four other siblings, 2 brothers and two sisters and all older than her. The two brothers were hardly able to maintain themselves (the eldest one was more interested in being a monk while the second one was believed to be always in debt because of gambling) let alone the parents. The two older sisters were married to blue collar workers and their combined incomes were barely enough to sustain the 2 kids they each had.

That left her with the burden of providing for her parents the father was a retired vegetables seller, aged 70 in 1992 then doing nothing but gambling; mother was a housewife in her late 60s.

As unfair as it sounded, we never came to being because unfortunately, she felt it her duty to ensure that her parents were cared for. This was done out of her perceived duty to her parents. I was 22 then and she was 21. She had previously sacrificed her future when at 20 she opted out of NUS not because she couldn't afford it (through study loans), but rather, it would be a burden to the family for her to be unemployed.

I had offered her an alternative lifestyle, one where she could gain an education and be with the guy she loved, but she rejected it (in tears and hysteria) because of her perceived duty to her parents. She earned $1,300 then and I believed that she had only about $600 spending money/savings and the rest, to the parents (and probably siphoned to the sons).

This is perhaps a good example of the Asian mentality of duty to the family.

Totally agree with your assessment on my three proposals... I believe you saw the fact that they were made with a particular leaning towards option 1. Why? Simple, you hurt yourself, but it won't take long to heal the wound (unless one is totally fucked up by the gongtao set upon him, but then again, if kena gongtao, won't bitch about the family's demands on them).

Now with regards about option 4, need to discuss it over a round of drinks. :D

Giving in to the demands of the FAMILY, I believed only solve the problem temporarily. When the month end comes, you still have to give. LOVE is BLIND. And many a times, it makes the man unable to see these problems that are waiting for him. Mutual Love will never be able to sustain the relationship alone. Bread will. The more the easier. One must be sober when dealing with this problems.

Sometimes on the surface, doesn't it look better that the girl is cheating on the guy instead? At least the guy can make 1 clean break. Rather than knowing the girl whom he loved is actually working hard trying to provide for the FAMILY.

As for option 4, need to be real JAI DUM to accomplish it.

Thinking back now and then even after 10-20 years, one will surely feel a tinge of sadness. Don't you think so even after relating your story. ;)

Like said earlier, this thread is just an info thread for people to read and understand that how fortunate we are many a times.

Relationship with WL is definitely not easy .
If thier mentality towards providing for the family don't change , its almost impossible to maintain the relationship cos no matter how much you can provide its still not enough.

SC

You're certainly spot on here. In China, many WLs too acted likewise. So i really doubt if "the family" factor is confined only to the "thai culture".

Very often, in China we can hear these WLs claimed that their parents din't love them and often asked and concerned about the "money" they will sent home than their livelihood. Yet at the end of the day, they will "work" their shit out to sent money home for various reasons.

It's also very common in China not only for these WLs to sent their hard earned money for their parents but also to assist their sibbings like a loan to a brother for a "van" to start a small transport business, a loan to a sister
to start a shop etc... And many a times, the business will failed and there goes their loans.....

From my experiences in China, the WLs here have that similar "family" bagauge with them.

Like you said, I think it happens everywhere especially in povern stricken countries..... Call it "proverty symdromme" ???

The problem is not merely due to the poverty, family, but most importantly it can also be attributed to Asian culture of family values, filial piety, provision of alms for good karma (hope you get my point here).

This does not even limit itself to WLs. Remember the Samsui women and a more apparent one, the Ma jie (Cantonese) who swear a life of celibacy and work for the rich as servants.

In olden days, it was not surprising to find one female sibling (usually unmarried) who will not marry off but rather stay behind to look after the elderly parents.

The way they think has nothing to do with karma.

For them to be a WL may be a karma for what they did in their last life. But if you look at it for another angle, for them to sacrifice to be a WL for their family, their next life will probably be good.

Question is, what's the karma for us guys in our next lives who goes cheonging on these WLs? :D

When men cheong, at that point of time, they don't think of karma. Only when it happens "this life" then they start thinking.

I don't say any bad things but I say realistic things and truth and she accepts it.

Also one of her brother wanted to borrow 20,000 baht from my wife to buy a pick up which I rejected outright with the reason he's trying to live beyond his means. It ended up he borrowed some where else and the pcik up is giving him so much maintenance and repair problems and he's now more into debts.

But I do compliment and try to help the good ones like the eldest brother. I have offered to let his daughter come to Hatyai to continue her secondary education at my expense next year when she starts secondary one which I feel with provide her better environment for education.

My wife understands and accepts my logic and reasoning. I think it depends a lot on the person who educates them, directly or indirectly.

Though you never loan the money, in the end, the problem still happened.

1. Based on what we do (cheong) our next life may turn out for the worst like we become "chicken" ourselves.

2. Based on what we do (help her earn some income and economy for Thailand), our next life may turn out better.

I like to think of no (2) when I cheong :D What about you guys?Maybe you and me last life are prostitutes ourselves? :p

I think we got to accept the fact that if we will to take on a "life partner", all her liabilities (including her family problems) and assets will come with it.

If the partner we chose is from a less developed or "proverty country" like Thai, Indo, China etc then the chances is that she bring in more liabilities than asset with her into our life. But then she may be younger, sweeter etc as compared to the gals back home.

The "family problems" you mentioned is not unique only to the Thai lady I see many similarities with the many PRC gals too. I dont see much different in the PRC gals attitude toward their family fm what you have posted.

Looks like in order to avoid such problem we have to go one step further in researching their family before accepting her ??? That's crazy....

You reserach the family to accept the family not her. Because in the first place you already accepted the girl. Marry the girl and marry her family.

There is a Chinese Saying,

If you marry a Rich Girl, you work less 20 years.
If you marry a Poor Girl, you work extra 20 years.

I would like to add extra 2 lines in.

If you marry a Poor Girl with a "Problematic Family", you have to work extra extra hard till either they die first or you die first. :p

Unfortunately this is true unless we resolve back to barter trade. Back to the cavemen hunting days. Got think b4 go a poor village marry a young girl give her good life but is this love? I think not.

'Heroes' die young but there is no end of heroes in thailand. No lack of white knight to save damsel in distress.

Throw her a life jacket only to discover that her legs r entwined by her families' roots thereby pulling down your yacht with her cause u refuse to let go. Jump into the water to save her? The problem is does she want to save herself? She has a pocket knife with her and can cut off the roots anytime, no need us to save. However, pls know that she is not going anywhere if her family is still in the water.

Morale of story? I don't know also. Currently waiting for my beloved to swim towards me. I am in the water already and there r so many sharks nearby but I will never let go cause I love her. If necessary, I will cut off the rope and die with her.

Have decided and not going to ever look back. Wish me luck. :(

The "family" means alot to those WL and bodes down to their upbringing and culture. More like brain-wash to bring back $$ even through they known pretty well what those TG are doing!!!

In a typical province, there not much work to be done less tending the field, plantations, etc. Even so, it only seasonal. Thus when a TG whose back from the city, the gifts and present they bring back to their family and friends will most definitely wins the envy of those who have not been to the city.

This often entices those back in the province and mostly will follow the former footstep due to the temptations and chances to earn big bucks. And also not to mentioned those agents going around recruiting new TG for the trade (local or oversea, etc).

This vicious cycle is never ending as long as the $$$ keeps coming back to the province and the family. Who knows you might be the next contributor......:P

Disclaimer,Not written by me,read somewhere from net

"Sometime Love Just Ain't Enough"
When my friend asked me to write something for Valentine, I was totally lost--didn't know what (the heck) to write! Then my friend kinda helped me out by suggesting that I could write about long distance relationship since I'm one of those people who have one myself. Hmm, I thought, not a bad idea. But now that I'm sitting and typing this, it begins to seem like a bad idea (Gor~ mun mai' roo~ ja kien arai ni wa'!!!). Anyhow, lemme see what I can share with you guys about this long distance relationship thingy. Let's start with the technical side of it then. If you feel sleepy, it's high time you get some caffeine boost now, because you might not even last through this part! Ok...all set? Let's go...
As with all relationships, this long distance one obviously has both positive and negative points. Most people can probably think of many drawbacks--how torturing it is not to be able to spend time with each other, how hard it is to "stay tune" with each other while being so far away, how difficult it is to live and deal with the doubts and uncertainty that always seem to come up, etc. Generally, we all can easily agree that long distance relationship does require a lot of effort--yep, love alone just ain't enough dude! You need to have trust, faith, confidence, and loyalty on the side (though I strongly suggest that love should be the main dish--now imagine what will be the main dish if love is just the appetizer?!? Hahaha...you know what I mean!). Because you and your "special someone" will be distant, you have to find a way to still be in each other's life, and you know, you don't have to be physically present to do that. There is such thing called telephone, and in most cases, daily phone calls work really really well (though your wallet may be badly injured, but I'm sure it's gonna be worth it--if that other person is not worth it, then why bother to even have this long relationship thing, huh? Logical logical.... But if the $$$ doesn't allow this, you need to go on a scavenger hunt for some other means of communication so you guys can keep in touch (which part to touch is up to your discretion! ) Now that cyberspace is hot, maybe keeping in touch via e-mail or through IRC will be cool. Whichever way you choose, bear in mind that it's absolutely necessary to stay in touch. You have to be there for the other person when he or she needs you, and I'm not saying that you have to ditch school to wait for his or her calls, though I must admit that would really be a good excuse

Enough about keeping in touch...now comes the question most people probably have as far as long distance relationship is concerned. How much can I trust the other person since I don't know what he or she is up to? The answer is surprisingly very simple--you can't do anything much than to trust the other person. Of course, it's just a matter of luck too. If you get a good person, then that should pose no problem. If, however, God hates you and you run into a jerk (which is more likely than running into a cool guy!), then what the heck?? Game over, put in an extra quarter, and start a new game!!! But yes, trust is very very important. And you also have to be confident in the other person too that he or she will be what you expect him or her to be. Hey, warning warning...confidence and dream are too different things. You are confident in a person when you know enough about him or her to somewhat be sure that he or she won't cheat on you (well, at least not so fast...people do change...sad but true guys...But if you get the signs that your once-cool guy or gal is now about to transform into a jerk, then decide for yourself what you wanna do. One quick tip here--always think about killing the other party first before you think about killing yourself! As long as you still breath, the game is not over...the soap opera (or is it just the show?) must go on...

Now what next? Oh yeah...how to deal with the pain of not being able to stay together and be with each other? Hmm...once again, I have an easy solution on hand...nai' mue' tum arai mai' dai~...gor tum jai la gun na ja kon geng'...Be a strong girl or boy (or whatever you prefer to be!), and live with it. If it's meant to be, you guys will surely meet someday. But talking on the phone daily or as often as you can will hel you deal with this problem. Like Richard Marx said, "I hear your voice on the line, but it doesn't stop the pain." Yeah, heck, it surely doesn't stop the pain, but it does ease the pain a bit...(sort of like morphine! :So if you are having or thinking about having a long distance relationship, maybe you can swap your national anthem for Richard Marx's song "Right Here Waiting"--seems to fit in neatly with out topic here...

Since I have been discussing about the negative points, let's not forget to talk about the positive things that come with long distance relationship...(now c'mon...I know there has to be some...why can't I think of any?!? Nahhh...mee si...mee dee dee yer' loey. Well, what can be more special than that supercool feeling of knowing that you have someone to care, to miss, to bitch at (this is optional), and to simply think of. And probably you guys will learn to value each other more since you know how much effort it takes to make your relationship last. Knowing also that you are always there for each other even though you are so far apart will also bring you closer together. Of course, this might not always be the case, but I'm talking about cases where it's successful. Though the chances are slightly less that long distance relationship will be satisfying (that is, compared to the normal, meet-you-everyday-until-I-get-sick-of-your-face relationship!), but if you think your special someone is worth a shot...why hesitate? Put on gear five and head on, dude! Way to go...

Hmm...look to me like what needs to be said has been said (man, cool sentence, huh?!?). How can I end this thing here? Ok...let's see...those of you who have love, secure it and make it last...and for those of you who don't have love as yet, never lose hope...
I'm able to write this whole thing, because I'm fortunate enough to have a really cool "special someone" to share this long distance relationship experience with. And to that "special someone" in NC, I just wanna say...

Written by that cute girl in Oregon..

I'll have to agree with Siamcutey that money cannot buy true love.

You see, in many cases, we men realise that we love this girl. And we are going to come out lots of love and money to keep it going. But one question not many people ask themselves is that whether the girl love u the same as how much you love her?

Of course the girl will say she loves you ( in many cases for the sake of money). But I believe no matter how good a girl is in acting, always observe the eyes. Shifty eyes tells you what they are saying is not true.

When one realises that the girl don't love them, will they still commit themselves to the relationship. In many cases they will. So the question you need to ask back yourself is whether you will spend the money on the girl and her family when you realise that the girl has no love for you.

For me I know I will not spend the money anymore and will just leave the girl.

My own viewpoint:
Why did God create allow many women in this world. He's telling us that if A cannot, go for B. If B cannot, go for C. He is giving us choices. :D

Lastly love can be "bought". Sad but true. To some it will seem as meaningless and hollow victory. But to such people, a victory is a victory. They don't care how they win it.

SC,

I beg to differ regarding the eyes. I myself has been trained so well that I can cry this moment talking to a lady and the next moment I am with another girl. Of course, this is after what so many girls did to me that I became immune and eventually a robot without feelings. My heart has turned to stone but has recently been melted by a girl with 'your description of the eyes which r filled with love'.

In the past, the eyes she look at me filled with love but I found out next minute she still in contact with her other tiraks. Tell me how to differentiate. I really am unable to do so. I hope i am not led on again this time.

My personal experience is if she likes u, she will not want u to spend money seeing her. She will prefer to go out with u. She will think for u and not anyhow spend your money. :)

Hi

True that money cannot buy love but nagging at a girl and telling her that you love her all the time doesnt really help either.

it takes two hands to clap.

many girls know the feeling of intimacy and differentiate this feeling into two forms: intimacy as in human to human feel, intimacy as in knowing that you are sharing feelings with the one you love.

that's why a great question to ask open minded girls and WLs is: will you make love with a friend?

it tells you a lot about yourself (because you may be jumping into a judgemental position), the girl, understanding women in general.

I think it depends a lot on the person who educates them, directly or indirectly.
First of all the girl must love the person, or else no matter how one educate them directly or indirectly also no use.

SC

The education process may be a long & tough road, considering that you are someone new in her life wheras her family has been with her since she was borned. Now family values are deeply entrenched in her.

Mindset of a Thai is very different from the mindset of a Chinese. Teaching her to think like us is quite tough if she is quite stuborn.

Perhaps as a starter, you can see for yourself does she do the same things to you & the other guys? If yes, then you are just another customer of hers. Maybe those good ones.

If no, then what's the difference?

There are some things that a girl will do for her faen, but not for a friend. You have to use your eyes to see & not just rush in with your heart.

If a girl really loves you, she will shows it by action rather than just saying "I Love You's" all the time, & not doing anything.

Let time tell.

Your seeing and my seeing different. YOu cry with this girl and the girl doesn't see through you is because she probably didn't realise you are lying. I am not saying that its easy to do that. But I didn't learn the "shifty eyes" thingy from love relationships. I learned it from other areas in the past when I was doing marketing and applied it in such cases. Till now until there is a need to do so, I don't really like to test them, because you bluff me I bluff you, quite fun also. Life need to have some spice in it. No need to get serious over it.

Read somewhere that being a WL is just another job for them as compared to other normal jobs. Wonder how come they have this misconception?

Got to know some WLs as well. They know they want to quit or rather procrastinate about it, but unwilling to do so at a fast rate. What goes on in their brains besides THE FAMILY & the decrease in income?

Read the last few pages came to understand that this GT or KC issue seems to be more of a social issue. What men cannot find in Singapore seems to be abundance in Thai gals, their upbringing and culture make them to be more family oriented, to lay their souls for their love ones but not so in Singapore. Hence all these make us yearn for these affections that we are deprive of, as the road runs on, more problems arise.

In year 2001, I saw my ex-tirak's sister getting money from her. My ex-tirak was not really willing to part with the money. Didn't know why. Now I understand. That was 2 years later after year 2001.

In year 2003, I was in Watana. My ex-tirak already in England. Her sister whom I didn't see in 2 years happens to work in Watana as a receptionsit. Didn't talk much cos I was with another tirak. We happen to talk quite a bit. Told me she works in Watana so as to earn some money to learn English. Ask me whether I can help her out. I said no problem. Bring me the form and I will go with her to the school and enrol her in.
Nothing concrete happen eventually. And the last time I heard her phone call was this year 2004 June. She spoke to me in English while I spoke to her in Thai. I believed she was high on drugs. Why?

Because she will only call me when she is high on drugs. kekeke. And she was supposedly in denmark making a phonecall to my singapore phone number.

If I have a sister like her, what would I do? I don't know. What will you guys do if you have a sister like her?

End of day, it is still the money issue. No matter what job you do, once you have an income of a significant amount you wont want to give it up, no matter how hard the work is. Moroever, thiers are not too bad, on a good day I think they can get easily SGD$200 a day. How many bros here rake in this amount a day here?? :o

This is a real dilenma. The front & back of your hand are both your own flesh. To help her by giving money will ruin her life. By not giving her money out of good intent will push her to borrow money from others.

Oh well, maybe should lock her up & let her go thru the "cold turkey" treatment.

True, but then the higher the money, the higher the risk. At the end of the day if they kena some disease, the money they work so hard for would be used to pay for their bills & it's not cheap.

Furthermore, they are considered as of no more use as they are not able to generate income for their family anymore. Perhaps get kick out & left to fend for themselves so as not to be a liability to the family.

Thais know how to earn & spend money. But as for saving, that's a different story.

I tend to agree with farak's viewpoints on this discussion.

However, let's all just take this with a pinch of salt. There's a multitude of reasons why WLs are WLs. Some are doing it for just for the extra money to line their purses, some are doing it to pay off debts, some are doing it just so the family can afford the 'finer' things in life and etc. No doubt the issue about paying off the family debts, paying the family car, etc and etc revolves predominately about the family, I would believe that there's more to it.

I am of the view that the WL actually knows that by being in the flesh trade, she knows she is capable of bringing in more income that she will ever be capable of by virtue of her skills (not those on the bed). Hence, she is willing to 'sacrifice' herself by going into the flesh trade. But bear in mind, the term 'sacrifice' would be what we would be accustomed to use. To them, it is just another job. And I can tell you FACT, that the higher class WLs actually do treat what they do with pride. This is because they know fully well how superficial the Thai society can be. As long as a person a well-heeled/powerful, he/she will get what he/she wants no matter their occupation, legit or otherwise. Thus, the usual Thai WL is actually well aware of the 'pitfalls' and the 'perks' associated with working in the flesh trade.

Of course everyone wants a fairytale ending, the Thai WL inclusive. If the Thai WL has to strum the right heart strings to get you to fall for her (which means you will supplement her 'lost' income), she will do it. It's all pretty natural isn't it? Imagine giving blowjobs to 10 different dicks each day. How nice it would be to just give 1 blowjob to just one dick in shining and money gilted armour huh? And the income stream just keeps coming in... :p

Well, as for the family 'compelled' reasons why Thai WLs are WLs. I feel that it is more of a personal choice rather than a compelled one. I have known many Thai girls in the past whom are not WLs and would never ever be one no matter how poor they are, and those whom can only think of being a WL as long as she is capable of doing it. Each WL will have their own reasons, be it a brother on drugs, mountain of debts to clear, or to provide a better life. As such, I feel there's no point dwelling too much and in detail.

As for me, I'll still fire and forget if I'm with a Thai WL. Just have to remember to draw the line very very clearly as to what the relationship is, that I'm a paying customer, and that they are just performing a service. But I will still make sure I treat them with dignity and like a friend to them rather than a pros. ;)

Just offering my share of views...

feel very sad for them.

And it seems like the family isn't appreciating what she is doing at all, i.e keep asking her for money as if she is a gold mine. NB what kind of culture is this.....

Oso read from somewhere(I think it's from Private Dancer) that the neighbors in their village knn rape them then give them money  .

Anyone care to reply?

Maybe let me quote you an example

Something which one should not do is to "insult" their parents in front of them, this is considered taboo, but then I DID IT!!!

It happened from an argument and

I said, "with your kind of attitude, NO ONE will LOVE you!!!"

she said, "I don't need anyone to love me, I can stay with my parents and they will love me!!!"
(This made me think of all the unthinkables)

I laughed sarcastically, HAHAHAHA!!!
she said, "what you laughing at?"

I said, "I am laughing at your stupidity. If your parents love you, they will not allow you to work in this trade and also let you come to SG to work as Cat40."

(Her face turned black)And said angrily, " My parents did not send me to work. I chose this myself to help them. They did not force me to work!!!"

I said, "IS IT?? They know you worked here and yet they asked from you this and that and so much money every month!!!"

My parting shot before I left the room," If I have a child, I will love him/her. If I know my child is working in this trade because of me, I rather die than take her money!!! You go figure it out!".

I left cos I didn't want to end up dead in a Cat40 girl's room. kekeke

The actual fact is the girl's parents didn't force her to work in the Flesh trade. But the family knows she is in it to help out the family. And most of the money goes to them. And they are asking more everytime. If the parent's love her, they will not want her to continue working and working and working just to fill up their own "bottomless pit".

Moral behind the story? It's up to her to think about what I say and not what I should think about what she say.

And sad but truth, try going to Orchard Towers and see those 50s, 60s old Thai women still working as FL at this age. I can actually see the cat40 girl's future 20 years from now.

Happy New Year. Mai Tong Kit Mak

To them, they can just changed their bf & look for another. But the family is here to stay & will still be with them even if their daughter breaks up with her bf.

To rephrase it, would you leave your family? Chinese will also stick with the family as we share some common values.

Enlighten? Perhaps they just found another way to work around it. Someone who loves you so much & is able to support the family.

Sticking to 1 man every night sure beats having to service different dicks everytime! Of cos, there are also some willing to give everything up for the man she loves, but the % is small.

Being a WL is just like another normal job for them, this we can never understand. Heard from some WLs that they want to quit but can't as the family has a huge expenditure. How can the parents be happy while knowing that their daughter is selling her body to unknown strangers?

I wud think it's always easier to be noble and upright when the situation is purely hypothetical. But when there is no food on the table. No roof over the head and no hope for the family and the family is truly suffering and as the one daughter that can thru her single sacrifice bring about a better life for the rest of the family, thru her eyes, wud you be prepared to make this sacrifice insomuch as you being the parent will resort to begging or stealing to prevent the daughter from resorting to prostituition.?

One is parental love and the other is filial piety. Always 2 sides to a coin I guess. :(

If so then why after the tour of duty, the family demands more?
If the family love the daughter, they would want her to happy right?

You know the saddest thing is that after they earn their money...it's their family(and possibly their lazy bf as well) who is enjoying it not them...how is this fair???

I agree with you bro, Life IS UNFAIR. In this world there will always be givers and takers.

However if the giver gives willingly even when she knows that her actions are foolish, who are we to pass judgement. We can opined as much as we want but unless we hold a position that can change their lives, I guess it's all semantics.

Maybe if we all unite (unrealistically of course) we can take a leaf out of the often heard National Geographic slogan: "If the buying stops, the killing will too."

Not only TGs are brought up to be fillial. In fact, children of all nationalities are taught to do so. It's just whether they want to "listen".

If you are in their situation, born in those villages or those towns. Not much entertainment nor money to spend like in SG, so most of the time you will be with your family. Over a long period of time, the strong bond is there. So their "sacrifice" is sort of repayment to the family who brought them up painstakingly.

Basically, it all boils down to the differences in thinking between us & them.

how is this fair???

Fair??? It simply means that "since my daughter can earn this much today, she can do the same the next time! So it's fair for me to spend after taking care of her for so long."

Do I sound biased against them or just plain direct?

Not only TGs are brought up to be fillial. In fact, children of all nationalities are taught to do so. It's just whether they want to "listen".

Thai chinese gers and thai gers, are their growing up environment the same?
Are they exposed to the same thai culture?

Perhaps SC or TV would be better able to answer your question here.

The basics should be the same. Maybe abit of deviation here & there along their growing up years.

A thai chinese ger told me Chiang Rai got alot of mandarin speaking people. Their main language is still thai though. What surprise me was that even the chinese family who live in Chiang Rai, they spoke thai among themselves too. I don't know how true is that though.

Giving this a bump. Still waiting for answers :)

The thai chinese in Chiang Rai are the "yunans". They know mamadarin but speak their own dialect among themselves. Even younger generations.

Whereas in bKK, other than those living or working in Chinatown, many of the younger generation does not speak chinese.

Thanks for taking ur time to answer my newbie question. Really appreciate it TV. Wish I could do more than just appreciating. Haha. But still young, there's nothing much I can contribute. Also have lots of questions in mind.

Anyone ever had a relationship with a yunan girl in Chiang Rai?
Are their thinking more different than the thai gers that SC mentioned in the first page?

... I can only say its their way of life. i may sound stupid to give up everything but what can i say....they did not keep their promise. Pain yes, wiser yes but we will never understand their thinking and way of finding wealth to lessen their so call hardship. It never end... it just go round n round.

Bro, moving story. I feel that you had made the move - be it right or wrong, the only one who can judge is yourself.

We will definitely never understand their thinking and way of finding wealth because, we have never ever experienced living from hand to mouth. People who live from hand to mouth will never understand the value of money (http://forum.sammyboy.com/showpost.php?p=615584&postcount=74). But do we in developed Sillypore understand the value of money ourself? (http://forum.sammyboy.com/showpost.php?p=615586&postcount=75)

Like the old adage of the whether the chicken or the egg came first, well this "round n round" or cyclical phenomenon is well documented not only in Thailand, but also in other countries with huge income disparities (http://forum.sammyboy.com/showpost.php?p=615579&postcount=72) like China, India, The Philippines, etc.

No offence to any bros within or outside this forum, personally, I feel given their circumstances, there is no right or wrong in this matter, we're looking at very different people living in very different worlds from us (yes, we're all on the same planet, but it's really different). These differences are not only geographical and linguistic, but also cultural, thinking, etc. However, the common denominator between them and us has got to do with which part of the globe you live in, the developed or the underdeveloped side.

Just my 2 satang's worth.

You must understand their culture before you can compare yourselves with them.

The girls normally decides for themselves that they want to work as WLs, and it is in their blood to help their family have a better life.

As in most thai families, abeit the poorer ones, the daughter will work as a WL if the son is not able to provide enough for the family.

You have a point there as in the decision lies with themselves. Read in an earlier post that they DO have a choice. And they opt for the easier & faster easier way out. It's a matter of "want" or "don't want". Sometimes, I can't help but wonder if the parents do put up a strong resistance in objecting their daughters going into this line. Cos once in, it's very hard to get out. Thru the years of being exposed to the evils ways of the world, even an innocent village girl would become a super "eagle".

If talking about family ties, why let the daughter shoulder all the burden? If parents are still able to work, won't it be better if all can work it out? Yes, the money is lesser, but at least everyone is happier & it gives comfort to the heart.

A thai man would not even blink an eye if his wife is a WL & returns at night to the bed as long as she can bring in the dough. But to us, it's simply unacceptable as our wife is considered as our own private property.

This is a good thread, bringing out what we thought vs the facts.

Snuber

At that time, my thought was not to allow another daughter of theirs into the vice. Make them promise this will not happen. I provided enough for them...house,cattle, land, motorcycle etc

Anger clouds the mind.............what I could suggest for their actions is that if there is another revenue whereby you can have another $30k - $50k baht per month on top of what you have currently, would you let this chance slip by?

Gosh! Guess I'm making the parents very $-faced here, but I could be wrong.

I don't know, but if I were you, I'll make an effort to find out how she is, and if life didn't turn up well for her, I'll do something about it as I was the cause. It doesn't mean marrying her, but whatever can be done to make life a little less miserable for her.

Agree with TV on this part. Be it as a friend or as her ex-hubby, it's good to know how she is doing right now.

Just be glad that your paths crossed & she is a part of your happy memories, even if the both of you are not meant to be.

My ex-regular used to be a chiang rai ger. Actually, I never get to know that until the last 2 or 3 bonks, I ask her how come her mandarin so good etc. Got talk about her family and such and got to know she is a chiang rai ger.

I was wondering if I do decide to commit on getting on with the relationship(aka tio gong tao :D ), how would it turn out?
Since she is a thai chinese, will her thinking be different from the other thai gers?

That time abit shock that legal houses got thai chinese also. Anyway she ORD for about 10 months liao I think.
Didn't ask for her thai home address and so, because I was like half shy and half insecure(I was afraid I can't give her security) about the relationship too.

Recently read about this thread, I got enlightened by SC's essay, the reason why they do it and I can tell, I really feel very fucking bad for them. For the family to actually go beyond the inch and keep asking for more and for the poor WL to provide what it seems like an endless bottom pit.....really like the quote SC gave to their family :p .

Still wonder what if I took a different path...bringing the relationship to the next level...maybe it will be what the forum describe as....another sadfuck?

Anyone else would like to comment about the yunan girls mentality?
Hope to hear more opinions. Thank you for your time.

Read about your story, I do understand that you try your best to prevent your ex-wife's sister from entering the trade. Really sorry to hear that you didn't succeed.

But I think you should at least give her a chance to explain instead of just leaving. Maybe your ex-wife's did try to persuade her. There are so many possiblity of why the sister enter the trade despite telling her the hardship and the dignity loss in the future to come.
I have two in mind now.

1. She has a pichaii to feed. But she feel like it's wrong to ask her sister for money?
2. She could be doing it because the family might have been in some shit debts and they feel ashame if they take your money?

Hate to say it but most marriages, the husband and wife still refrain from discussing serious issues. Maybe you should ask yourself, have you ever discuss any serious issues or problems with your ex-wife?(like work stress or some family problems you had back in your home country)

I think it's a psychological issue. They don't want to burden their spouses, they also don't want them to worry. For most, they just wish that their spouse are happy. But what they didn't know is that both have a serious issue kept in their heart.

It's their way of expressing love, right or wrong...it's up to you guys to judge.

I know it's been ten years liao, but I guess it's just a character in me. I always think what would happen if I chose this route instead of another.

Ya...10 long years.....could it be fated that it has to end this way. I was not thinking for a long time . Now the wound opens up again.... feeling guilty again like did i did it right or wrong......

I'm sorry for opening up your wound. But sometimes it helps to think about it so that one will not make the same mistake again.

I would like to say that it's really impossible to discuss every single matter with your spouse. I would like to think as because they are not counselors or thearapists, it's really difficult for them to understand the problems you face. They also think that you might not be able to fully comprehend the hardship they are going through. They also have this mentality; "Tell you also no use, I don't think you can help me also." Most married couples are facing such issues, I am sure of it.

That's one of the mental barriers why couples refused to talk about issues. It's then top up with the 'I do not want you to worry' layer to cover the main reason.

Marriage is all about compromising. One's life-partner can never be perfect.

Just rely with another classic, "How can I be happy when you are not?"

Marriage is all about compromising. One's life-partner can never be perfect.

It is not that sons don't want to help out. It is a question of whether they are able to or not. (put aside some of those black sheeps).

You will see a girl going out to work as WL and sending money bakc to the home. Her brothers may be in the rice fields, tending to cattles, etc, etc.

Putting ourselves in their situation. If you were able to command an extremely high income, and say one of your sibling is in financial hardship where the house is going to be repossess, do you just keep to yourself and say, hell with your sibling as it is not your problem?

half right, half wrong.

When man have money, their cock feel itchy and they will want to spend money to relieve the itch. However, when no money, cock feel itchy, boo bian use the hand.

Yes they may be tending to cattles etc. That is because they have no one to support and give them more money. But when someone in the family starts giving them money in surplus (surplus in this case means alot), how many you think will just tend to cattles?

Liquor, Gambling, Women is where the surplus will end up in.

And if you are talking about having a sibling who is having financial hardship and deciding whether to help or not. Most important thing to know is what is the main reason behind the financial hardship. Biz failure, hospital bills, drinking, gambling, womanizing....????

Yeah they resisted, but they did not stop their daughter and when the daughter give them the money, did they take it? Their mouth says, please don't work in this line, but in their heart says, I hope you can earn a lot to help to help the family.

Remember what I said before, "If i love my daughter and she chose to work in this line and help out the family, I rather die than accept the money."

Why they accept money from their daughter is because yes, they love their daughter, but they love the MONEY MOREEEEEEEE!!!!!!

If they refuse the money from the daughter, does the girl still need to work in the flesh trade cos she knows that whatever she earn from this line, the family will never accept it. What is the purpose for her to have so much money then?

In my mind, I think KNN, I stay in bangkok, go arp num, go pub, clubs, plus all my expenditure and accomms, monthly only chalk up 50K baht (sometimes 60K) and if I don't go vices, my expenditure will not go more than 20K baht.

In my mind I think, not bad, 5 months I get a discount of 20K baht. How about waiting for another 5 months and probably then I need to pay only 10K baht monthly to the cheeby family? Instead of working addditional 2 years, let her go on for 4 years, and probably another extra 2 years so that she can give me extra 15K baht monthly for my expenditure.

50K baht is $2K SGD plus
30K baht ia $1.3K SGD

We are talking about Thai standard of living. not singaporean standard of living. 50K baht to them is like $5K to us singaporeans.
You eat Chicken rice in thailand is 15baht-20baht at roadside
To us its less than 1SGD, but to them its like euivalent of $1.50-$2.00

So you ask me eat restaurant one time 400-500baht expensive or not, the truth is it is expensive.

The best is I adopt the mentality of the Khon thais, I drive her to MP to work daily and get money from her. Her problem is her problem. My problem also become her problem. Anyone knows any girls who do it because its a fast way to earn money (not pressured by family problems of course)? they do it because they want to open some biz or fund their own education but they cant get/dont want to get a bank loan. ie. they do it for themselves and not for others.

That sounds like the mentality of PRC girls???

Perhaps you should rephrase it this way.
They want to help out the family so that they feel song. They love the feeling of supporting the family. So, ya they are doing it for themselves. They are doing it to make themselves feel song.

I used to think maybe with the immense money they earn, they will enjoy life and start out biz have a good life etc.. But think again.....

To open a biz, they need to have lobangs. They also need to be smart and to identify who is out there to con them and who is really into doing biz with them. They also need to know how to manage accounts also. If not later kenna con oso dunno. I.E they simply don't have the experience to open up a biz. And besides opening up biz for first few months, they will hardly profit, be it in the food/clothing industry. Now, how can they afford that  unless someone is sponsoring them.

To further their education  I don't see a point. To study means to spent more $$$. When she study, it also means less or maybe no dough for the family. Will she risk it? Highly doubt. Besides, most WL hardly completed high school, how to further their eduacation? Enroll themselves in high school again meh?

Read somewhere else that it could also be due to their religion - Buddhism. NO OFFENCE intended here.

The scripture states that their body is just a shell, whereas their soul or heart is where the value is. So to them, even selling their bodies aka shell & making their families comfortable, they are accumulating good karma.

But to me, it's just that they perceived the intended meaning wrongly.

Before you fire all your guns at them, look at the other side of the coin as well. NOT ALL thai families are like that.

Some are so poor or so heavily in debt, eg borrowing money from agents to build a house, land etc, that they could never repay thruout 1 lifetime. Thus, the daughter can help out in repaying the debt faster.

Each family case is unique, thus do not generalise them all based on what you kena from 1 girl. Have to know the "why" before we can start to say anything.

When they caught their pichaii red-handed sleeping with another girl, imagine how she feels? After that, you ask her, "now do you understand how I feel?" She will surely get the drift. Hahaha!

If really love each other, they will sponsor each other :D
Anyway, unless you do something that touches her heart, it's very unlikely that sponsoring will lead to a happy relationship. After, it's never enough be it rich or poor. You can give them 1 million SGD and they still say it isn't enough.

If one truly loves another, one won't want to see him get hurt. Sponsoring is more like a one-sided love. You sponsor so she will be happy. But on the other hand, she don't care the hardship you go through to earn this sponsorship money. How can this be called..love? Haha!

Good point here, but very tedious if the guy cannot tahan the wait.

Or maybe at the end of her tour of duty, "something" crops up & she will still have to keep working.

What you mean cannot tahan the wait? Man have money can wait anytime. Time wait for no women. Every year passed by, they get older, less prettier. I can look for others when I am 40, can she?

She can go Orchard Tower and look for others at age 40.

I can wait anytime, anywhere.

Why don't they just get up there lazy ass and work or at least fucking appreciate what their daughter is doing for them?

My social order is she can sleep with men(clients) as its her profession. Me as the tirak will "Kow Chai" as long as she don't love them. To be my tirak, don't ever kohok, once you kohok, you are finished, becaused I kohok 10 times better than you.

You can call the customer right in front of me. But if you go out with customer and tell me you are alone and not with anyone, then it means you kohok. When you kohok 1 time, it becomes a habit and you have to kohok a couple more times to cover the 1st lie. How to kohok me when I used to kohok girls?

True, I never had a real tirak because I never committed into the whole tirak thing. I was young and still young right now. I feel that I couldn't give enough. I mean 900 dollars per month, how to feed ppl. Hahaha.

I almost got myself involved with a WL until all this info I have read...really in a dilenma back then. I mean my family isn't rich, my part time job isn't paying out much, what if everything messed up? Struggling to balance between feelings and reality. Had a really hard time to compose myself.

Yes, some men become more attractive the older they get, whereas it's vice versa for WLs as they age faster.

What I meant was those guys who really love & wanted to be with them, not those piichais.

That is the difference between us and pii chais. Pii Chais will not break down because they are Khon Thais. So until you learnt to be a pii chai, you will always suffer emotionally.

But to me, it's just that they perceived the intended meaning wrongly.

exactly where did you read that their action is due to their religion. if they were to have minimum understanding of buddhism they would not be in the trade.

as buddhism is so profound lay person could not have a good understanding of it. so in order to illustrade the idea of impermanency to a lay person, it was then out of convenience to refer to the dead body as an empty shell or an old garment when you die. no amount of fortune and earthly belonging could be brought away by the dead, no kin or servant could take your place. only the karma that you had accumulate stay with you. and for your info selling their bodies to feed their family is not the way of accumulating good karma. please refer to the eightfold path for the accumulation of good karma.

half right, half wrong.

Biz failure, hospital bills, drinking, gambling, womanizing....????

yep... economic reality is that gal (with no education) makes exponentially more than the guy(whether educated or not)....an average MP gal makes at least 200,000b per mth while a male graduate earns maybe half a year (100,000b)...of 'cos not referring to the minority of upper/rich/businessman class where guys still dominant. But in general low-mid class of population, women hold the economic power.... that is especially so in Hatyai while women more than men- men all reduced to being servants to women
My theory is that explains why majority of Thai males are slightly feminine/wimpy 'cos I s'pose they eat soft food and economically dependent on their women...

Thornton screws ard behind her back and until she cannot take it, she divorces him....She still cannot get into a real relationship with all those desirable men like Colin Farrell, Jude Law etc as she cannot stop thinking of Thornton..And what does Thornton do ...he moves on to bonk and marry another young gal...

Anyone knows any girls who do it because its a fast way to earn money (not pressured by family problems of course)? they do it because they want to open some biz or fund their own education but they cant get/dont want to get a bank loan. ie. they do it for themselves and not for others.

eg. one at Copa is young uni student who works part time to fund her private uni fees (which is apparently more expensive than gov't). She drives to work and stays near the airport. That is what she says anyway. She is very independent, strong type so may be some truth there

lai lai, no need debate, as time passes by, you will learn more and more day by day.

Of course, if you are just in Thailand as a frequent sex tourist, u will not see things in the same perspective as me.

Family issue not easy to settle. To me, the easiest way is I ask for discount on monthly maintenance. Ask for the sake of asking. And if they don't agree to my amount and I love their daughter a lot, too bad for them. One party have to sacrifice and of course since I love their daughter a lot, how can I sacrifice my ownself? I have to sacrifice the family. Karma? They shall wait for me in HELL then. So, unless I don't love her that much, I will go look for other girls instead

Read the book "Patpong Sisters" by Cleo Odzer. She is an American that did a study of the Red Light district in bangkok. It's probably the devil's advocate to the Stephen Leather book.

The fact is (sadly) that a working girl can earn in a place like Patpong (1 month) enough money to support their family for 6 months. It's simple economics. That's why they do it. So, they will probably earn more if they come to Singapore. Just think, you can buy new clothes & books for your brothers & sisters, pay off debts etc. That's why such women are respected in their villages.

True, some may do it to support drug habits or a sleazy boyfriend taking advantage of them. But that is probably in the minority. For me, I will not look down on the poor or the virtuous. Let them have dignity.

In contrast, i'm shake my head in disbelief when i read articles of teens in Japan or elswhere who moonlight as prostitutes so that they can buy handphones, designer clothes etc. Dear god, have these people no self-respect.

Some people seem to take a harsh view on generalising.
Generalising does not necessary means all of them. It simply means majority of them. If there is majority, there will be the minorities too.

It all depends on where they are staying. Of cos their expenditure. Every individual case is unique. Unless you are enquiring a certain place, else you will get very vague answers.

Go their home and see what they need. Then compare with what you see around their neighbourhood. Some need more, some need less.

If I spend 50K-60K baht in BKK monthly on vices in the past, and they need more than what I used, definitely something is wrong somewhere.

Amt depends on the envirnoment n how u spend n how many u feed with this amt. Sometime it is good u contribute to part n all of the expense.

My so called tirak experience. In case you miss it.

Afterall, if the WLs do not mind working their pussies off for their families, I don't understand why the "customers" are making so much noise cursing their families.

Coz the WL is giving up someone who loves her dearly for the family who does nothing except to leech off their money. How can he not be angry?

Anyway, also got lucky once right?
What are your thoughts on that TV?
How they get over this family issues?

SC been through the tirak shit. He got some experience on it.

And how can she be "lucky" if the so called someone who supposedly love her dearly, cannot understands her thoughts and behaviour, and decide not to be with her because of her devotion for her family?

My thoughts on lucky ones will come later but not today. Are you buying kopi tonight? I can give you a preview? :D

When he tells you the stories the thai taxi drivers told him, of course it tallies lah...

No imformation here is correct for you to make an informed choice with regards to your future relationship. If you ever use any of the info here to base your judgement, you are doing a great injustice to yourself and your future tirak.

I'm in SG now. Read my signature. You'll get to read many seniors and newbies there too.

Haha my english really weak, maybe I should post in mandarin.
Anyway, a fair share of information allows me to assess the situation better right? I know if I make a decision entirely on the forum, it would do great injustice to myself and the future tirak.

If you read my experience, I do intend to have the tirak but I guess the forum make me think alot. If I haven't read the forum here, I will probably be making rash decision and who knows what will happened.

But for my previous experience, I never put a thought on the chance of succeeding. Because at that point of time, I didn't realize that there are success stories too.

So, you can say I really did a great injustice to myself because the forum influence me alot in deciding to pursue the tirak. I don't blame the forum actually, but I don't know if I should thank them either. Maybe I should.

That's why when people say there are success stories, I am abit curious. I mean with so many stories on family debts, strong family bond and possible pichaiis, how the lucky ones actually deal with it?

I am sorry if this post sound childish, I mean I am only 21. There's alot of things I don't know yet. Should I touch the fire and experienced it before I realize that the fire is dangerous? I don't know. But I would like to know more about the fire...that's my thoughts.

Just to relate my story, I have a thai tirak too. Met her at Sparks disco in Bkk 3 years ago...exactly 3 years ago. Was having my first working attachment there for 2 months. Well she wasn't exactly an easy catch coz really spend alot of time and effort getting her. Maybe it was just her way of playing hard to get. But till now, I think i gave my tirak around S$20k to build a house. I dun give her any money monthly to her. Went to her village once to see and well it's a very nice house built. Her parents are of coz very friendly with me. Some of these gals really come out to work just because they want to build a house in their village to replace their wooden houses.

I have a friend who had a very good ending with his tirak. He gave the gal some money every month (around $300) and money to build her house too. Now he's happily married with her in a very good thai ceremony. It's always good to visit the gal's village coz you can really see their living conditions.

After so many years with with a thai gf, I've found that most of the thai gals with do almost anything to achieve their goals. So if you're going to find a thai tirak, I think it's best to expect lots of fustrations and lies. :( If you call her from singapore and she did not pick up the phone, what will you think? Is she out with other guys? Having a great time with them using your money? or whatever, and these things will come to your mind whether you want it or not. The fear is there coz of the stories you've read from here and heard from other experience people.

So if your heart is not 'wide' enough, I guess it's not that easy to maintain a relationship with a thai gal. So no matter how much you love the gal, leave some space for caution whenever it comes to money. You won't want to lose money and gal at the same time, even if you're rich.

Just my thoughts, it might not be true so pls dun flame me. Comments to add are always welcome. Thanks!

No one will question how much you are going to give your tiraks, wife or anyone else as long as you are comfortable with the amount.

If lets say you pay your wife's parents every month 100K baht as expenses and they ask from you an additional 50K baht monthly, Don't tell me you will not ask why? Of course bottomline is end of the day you must know where the money goes to. Some people use money wisely, while some people spend money blindly, depends on individual.

especially 25 yr olds who speaks as if they know Thailand like the back of their hands while, we on the other hand are old enough to be their fathers who has been in and out of Thailand even before they were born.

It is an untold fact that this kind of stories happen in real life. To others they may think why I am rambling here. I don't see it as kpkb, but to some others, they may think I am kpkb. But if you do see it from another aspect, it holds a certain amount of truth which many people do not like to talk about.

Sadly, the truth always hurts.Knowing something more in life wouldn'thurt. Enriches one's outlook of life and who knows one day he may be the one who is in the picture and will be able to handle the problem easier.

Stories happen daily and its a good way where I see people coming out to share their stories and views. But other than talking about the thread topic, (concentrating on personal attacks, flamings instead), i wouldn't be bothered to reply other than replying back on thread topic.

Maybe I will be a bit more direct about my experience so you guys can make judgement. I believe I have posted a brief version in SM's thread. But here's the recap.

About 1 year ago, I met this chiang rai ger in L4H23. First session and we have a lot of chemistry. She can speak decent english and a bit of mandarin. I was told by her that she is half chinese half thai.

I never talk to her alot because language was an issue, so basically it's just pay, make love, hug hug, massage then go. But the GF feeling she give was really comfortable. I think with each visit, the feeling gets stronger lor.

I did intend to woo her, but I also got read the stories here and how one can end up being a sad fuck. I also read Private Dancer and that sort of instill more doubt in the relationship. Is it better to just keep the relationship a client-based one?

I thought a lot about it. I even lose a lot of sleep about it to be honest. I don't know a lot of thing and was so afraid that things might screw up. Also at that time, my dad got retrenched and only my mother is providing the family. If things really go like what the forum say, then how.

Then I visit her one day, she told me she is returning home in a few days. I was a bit shock, only about 3 months and going home liao. But she never say anything about "I like you" that sort of thing. But the sex on that day was remarkable. She even cum. Fake or not, I dunno, but at least she try to make me happy.

Before I leave that day, I was wondering if I should get her address or not. But in the end I never. I go home and I start to think again. Should ask or not? Should I tell her how I feel or not?
And with that I thought for 2 days straight.
Then I decide, aiya ask address nia. Won't hurt right. At least I know where she stays. So on the third day, I go down.
Then OKT tell me she ba lei kampong liao.

KNN......so that's how it ends.
Honestly, I still regret that I never ask where she stay.

Bro, you have allow some people's personal "sad" experience to affect you as the "whole" truth and that is why you regret what you didn't do, that is to follow your heart and get her address, or to woo her.

I never regret so much until I recently read that out of all sad fucks, there are those who turned out happy fucks also. A bit surprised that time. But everyone has been saying ya, success story got. But always nothing more than 60 words. No process were discussed too, unlike the sad fuck story where every detail has been clearly defined.

If you read such books, you should read it like a "novel" and enjoy the book as such, nothing more. And if anyone were to quote to you examples from such books to advise you in any matters, tell them to "fuck off" because it is rediculous to let a book determine your life other than books like the holy bible, koran and of such.

Private Dancer and all other books are written by people who wants to make the books into "best sellers" and at most is only 15% accurate or reflects only 15% of the Thai WL society. Authors will of course "claims" this or that credentials to help sell their books even more, and I think it is absurd if any body were to talk the book as the "bible" to even the simpliest Thai culture.

Most books are written by Farangs who, generally does not tells you the truth or hides the facts to make them more "authoritative" (if there's such a word) and as Mr Knows It All, a behaviour that some samsters have already adopted in the postings in these Forums.

I know there are many people who are affected by these books and whenever they come to a cross-road of a relationship, they take the examples from these books to "help" them move on, which is actually very suicidal.

If you read such books, you should read it like a "novel" and enjoy the book as such, nothing more. And if anyone were to quote to you examples from such books to advise you in any matters, tell them to "fuck off" because it is rediculous to let a book determine your life other than books like the holy bible, koran and of such.

My 2 cents worth and waiting for anyone to challenge my views.

Correction in the part where Private Dancer was to be made into a best seller. It wasn't published in hard copy and its an online version. Sad to say the author couldn't make money over his book.

And whether it is 15% accurate, 30% accurate, 50% accurate or even 99.9% accurate, to bring it to the cult status of a religious book is a bit way too exaggerated.

True or false, every individual decide for themselves.

Enjoy the experience, Enjoy the book, Enjoy the Culture, Best of all , Enjoy Life.

TV, how right you are. One of the things I have always done is to choose to listen to people like you who have very balanced views, try to understand their perspectives and then seek to apply them to my own life, bearing in mind the similarities and differences. I am glad I had never let ppl with very one-sided views affect my decisions much, except to be perhaps a bit more careful with what I am doing. Some of the things you told me when we met at GM have remained with me.

In a way I have never regretted what I have gone thru, and the 1st gal I haved love with 2 years ago, is back with me today, against all the odds. Cos her behaviour was so untypical of those described by the "one-sided advisors", I had to recognize her for who she is. After 2 years, she is doing what she said she would do - be with me after her Uni graduation, after she had gone thru a long period of "self-imposed" hardship to struggle thru Uni - just to prove to me her love for me is not for the money. She did not want any financial help for me during her final year in the Uni, cos I had questioned her if she loved me or the money I had provided the year before and then she wanted to stay single for her final year to concentrate on her studies. On looking back, she did not have a change of heart. She had simply gone back to her original decision not to be attached while Uni, but I had distracted her.

Whatever has happened between us in the 2 years, it is for both of us to know and for other "busy ones" to speculate if they so wished. Sad part is that she had remained faithful, whereas I have not. The irony now is whether I should allow her to return to me. There are good reasons to do so, for she has proven herself to be who I had thought she was and we had somehow continue to love each other despite "not being together" for 1 year, but there also good reasons to say "NO", for it would also mean hurting another who has given me her heart (and probably also needs me more).

Hope I will be wise enough to choose wisely. And lessen the pains of the one (maybe even 2) whom I will have to say "No" to. The time to make a decision and settle on one is fast approaching. I think it will be before Songkran, cos I can only visit one set of parents at their home then and doing so will also mean a certain level of commitment after.

Paiseh to quote some posting from Thaivisitor and Peterfish and I think these quotes which they said are very appropriate from the Thai Celebrity Cat40 Lookalike thread

http://forum.sammyboy.com/showpost.php?p=811648&postcount=220

I have already analyse lah...

There are some people who will try to paint the picture to others that he is the ONE that is different from others lah... while others all have the same experiences, this ONE will always be different eventhough everyone knows he's bullshitting.

Why is this ONE afraid to let others know who is his "regular"? Simply because he's afraid that the cat will be out of the bag, of course, as always he'll give you reasons or excuses that that is not so. KNN, for that matter, the so call "regular" could be a figment of his imagination.

Talking about imagination, there are people who were exposed to bad experiences but no matter what will deny it til the cow comes home. In order to "cover up" the bad experiences, they will come out with imagainations or stories to show how "great" they are, and what ever is the norm, does not befalls on them. And when others point out the real experiences, it hits a nerve and they will go all out to so called "discredit" them as not true or it doesn't happen to them.

It's just like people selling handphones when they don't hit their quota, they will always boast to their friends that theirsales is always good no matter what. They're perfect, they are in control, etc...

Peterfish replied

Quite true. I have met a few of these people before. It is ok to be hurt and fooled. There is nothing shameful about it. I have been fooled many times in work and by other women other than WLs. It is part of growing up. The important lesson is that you must learnt form it and make sure you don't make the same mistake. Just take it as paying school fees. The fact that I am able to happliy type these while working in the office now shows that i am fine and well. In this context of Thai CAT 40, there are many who have bad experiences with them and have since disappeared. Some are too hurt to be bothered with this forum. These are the REAL peoples who can be considered as worthwhile since they don't just talk about it. They LIVE it.

Very good comments.

That's the ideal r/s that everyone has in mind. Even WLs dun intend to fall in love during their course of work. But then, as human beings, emotions are hard to control.

After going thru your post, your procrastination is based on a "what-if" basis. Trust me, humans tend to have negative thoughts rather than positive ones. Thus by the time you decide to strike, she went back home already.

If you do encounter such things again, why not get their contacts or maybe address first? Just keep in touch as a friend. Dun start giving her the so-called monthly maintenance yet. Anyway, it doesn't hurt to be her friend first right? Also you can get to see what type of person she is.

Only after when you get involved with a TG, you will be able to see things in a different light from a bystander. Every girl is different, so you will have to open your eyes BIG BIG & thread carefully, instead of plunging in head first.

Thank you snuber. I was young and hum ji back then. Hahaha
So perhaps now, someone is willing to share some success story.

One thing I find it funny is that sad fuck story are always very detailed and defined whereas success story...well they just say that they do exist. No details or process.

Anyway, I went down L10 coffeeshop today at 8:35a.m, never see any potential samsters there. Got a few ang moh FL though.

I don't know if anyone got see me but I wore a green color shirt and short pants and I also wear a pair of glasses.

Some people think every girl is the same.

No girls are the same. But the difference won't be very huge. If they are WLs that is..

Very good comments. Right on the spot. Though everyone is different, the difference won't be very huge ;)

First of all, is she a WL? If not, then, perphaps it's not applicable here? My opinion that's all, no offence pls...:)
Well, if you have read enough, you will discover there are enough ppl in this forum who unfortunately seem to think all TGs, irregardless of their background, are the same. It could be due to whatever bad experience they may have encountered in the past. From the number of TGs they may have met, they chose to think that they have known enough to generalise and claimed they know it all.

On the other hand, many bros have very balanced views. There is one bro on particular who used to have a very one-sided view but his postings for many months now are so balanced that I have much respect for him.

Bro, you know who you are and I salute you :)

Take care

No u did not spoil my mood. the fact is , not all girls are the same like some ppl here said. and that is enough. We dont have to go into the statistics.

"not all girls are the same, but if its wl, the difference is not huge." so what are u trying to say here? are there girls who are different or are there not? u kena toto means u kena, doesnt matter how much u kena. got difference means got difference.

my $10million worth.

A world of black and white only. How perfect if the world is like that. Sigh..
