Hi,

My subject matter has got nothing to do with Sex but I thought there is some relevant to this thread so no flaming please.

I just got home after a drink JOO Chiat's Blue Star. I left the place at about 115am and shortly after turning left from the open car park into joo chiat road, I was stopped by the police conducting Breathalyser test. It was barely 20 meteres from Blue Star. I was Shocked because this is the first time I encounter such an operation at a minor road.

lucky for me, mine test was ok because tonight I'm sick so never really "drink like a fish"

Knowing that some bros here do frequent there, I decided to post it here to share/warn you.

If you want to drink and drive, then you better find a way.

Cheers!

If i am mistaken, this coming weekend also got breathelyzer test again. Apparently the police claims that with more such tests, accident rates go down.

Fellow Bros,

I personally know of 4 guys that had their driving licence revoke because of drink drivingin 2004!! It has caused hugh amount of inconvience to them in addition to the ban and money fines!! Really dun pay to drink and drive! I normally send my family back, leave the car and then take a public transport back to town for the drinking session!

One tip that I learnt but yet to actually try it out is getting a tow truck to tow your vehicle back to your place. Cos, the cost of taking a taxi home and back to the carpark the next day is almost the same as the cost of hiring a tow truck, plus it save u the inconvience. :)

Tell them L P... 1 of the statement from them, speeding kills. KNN I was driving 100km/h in the most right lane when a TP zoom passed me n slow down then zoom again. KNN I tried to keep up with him but with me at 120km/h that asshole TP is far far ahead of me. They drive like they r the king on the road. So what they have special riding course. Racer has special course too but they can't speed on the road.

It is drink driving that they are targeting currently. Usually @ Joo Chiat, do not have. Thread starter is just sharing information, also Joo Chiat lately is hot topic in the news. MP is now also involved. So they have to do something.

I know where you are coming, think some of us have encountered similar situation.

I followed a TP once, damn shiok, cheong all the way. The TP is 'esorting' my car, no traffic, no car dare to block our way. But I paid a price for this, cos he brought me to LTA for inspection, n I kena $500 fine for modification of car.

i guess all TP vehicles are modified. If you can follow, that means your car is also modified. after all, their vehicles are modified to outrun and outlast ordinary and even some modified cars. doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out right? hehe! itchy backside lah! :p

You are right! I just hope by sharing info ppl here will not become victim to the ambush. I was so damn surprised to be flagged at such a small road! This is my first time I kenna breathalyser. I'm sure it's their indirect way of discouraging people from going there. Less demand and supply will fall

The whole street of Joo Chiat was damn quiet after the -ve publicity. You see more guys than girls. If its a regular day I'm sure the traffic hold up due to the operation will be longer.

he told me when he was young, he used to have a bmw and one day on the road he race with a stranger driving porche on the ECP toward airpot. he lost the race to the porche and soon the TP catch up with him.

then my friend ask the TP, why he didnt catch the porche that is speeding faster than him. the TP replied, too fast i cant catch him. ha ha ha... so from then onward, my friend drive porche and abandon bmw.

Seriously, i also very disagree on the strict rules of car mdifications. See, since S'pore is so small and the cops had invested so much money on speed cams, why don't they just let people to mod as long the driver don't cause accidents or nuisance to people around them. I don't believe any hot blooded male who don't inspire to spice up their rides to greater heights. When i see those M'sians protons modified running around S'pore, very tulan cos' we can't play like them. Money is ours to spend, by modding the car, we are helping the S'pore mechanics to have a better rice bowl and helping to build the economic.

That's the reason they should consider so that man will spend less money on extra-marital affairs and pay more attention to their wives and family. Like that, as the demand for paid sex is low, lesser Fls will roam the streets. Most important is think of what should i change in my car tomorrow hah? ;)

Bro 1 thing I dun understand, LTA dun allow to mod your car but allow selling of these mod items.... it's like saying u can sell banned drug but not taking it. Anyway, as a car crazy I will definitely say yes to mod, by mod we increase the air n petrol mixture which will help in the air pollution which the LTA dun understand this theory but car crazy in S'pore is just a small group. The majority drivers r just pt A to pt B drivers, everytime they c car pass them, they will complain. Everytime they c car bodykit, they will say 'beng'.... I guess this 'beng' label is only in this part of the world.

To me, mod a car is an 'art', u think buy this n that parts put inside the car will make it better?? Anyway, in s'pore everything is written out in black n white. If it is A then it cannot be B, else u have to pay a sum of money for it.

I agree with all the bros here that it is actually the person behind the wheel more than the mods which cause accidents. However, a few interesting questions came to my mind:

1. If the car is not modified, can we still trust drivers not to cause accidents? I guess the answer is no. accidents still occur, modified cars or not.

2. Do modified cars contribute to majority of accidents? Answer is unknown. likely to be a no.

3. If you are the singapore gahmen (you wish you were!), would you TRY to ban modifications? The answer is an obvious yes. Reason? Well, accidents happen and when public finds out an accident involves a modified car, will the public cry foul over the lack of regulations for modifications? Another yes.
So the gahmen will have to do what it can do to try to cut down accidents. Given that accidents still occur, it is better not to have mod cars on the road to endanger the majority. All it takes is one fella to run down a pedestrian or cause an accident and we will be back to square one.

4. If you make cosmetic mods to your car, will you make other mods to your engine, exhaust, etc etc? If your answer is no, you can always apply to LTA to see if your intended mods are legal or not. If your answer is yes, will you pose a nuisance or threat to not just other road users but also other people who are in the vicinity?

5. If you have a modified car, will you drive according to the speed limit on all roads? If the answer is yes, then why will you want to mod your car? If the answer is no, then you are probably endangering the lives of others.

If you have a mod car (cosmetic or motoring mod), you are more likely to speed. I personally own a car and would like to mod. There will definitely be a difference in my driving should i mod my car. I will definitely speed. Not all will speed. Majority will. In the end, if you extinguish a life based on your over-enthusiasm for your mod car, how are you going to live with it?

Bottom line is YOUR driving behaviour will definitely change and I can tell you that it will not change from safe to safer or dangerous to safe. It will become even more dangerous.

Above is my 0.00002 cents worth. Hope bros out there dun mind such a long posting. Just my feelings.

This thread becomes a car mod topic,

If u didn't mod your car, will u still drive within the speed limit?? Whether to drive within the speed limit is due to the person behind the wheel. I mod my car to enhance the power n better petrol consumption n most of the time I drive above the speed limit but sometime I also keep to the speed limit. I remember the first car I own, without mod I also speed.... :p

End of the day whether u speed or not is not due to mod but due to individual, example, a driver driving a showroom WRX or Jazz will still speed whether his car is mod or standard.

Hello brudder! of cos its the person behind the wheel. I agree but let me ask you this... why do you sometimes keep to the speed limit? another thing, without mod, you also speed. With mod, you will speed even faster? of cos, my comments are for the general population of mod car owners.

example, a driver driving a showroom WRX or Jazz will still speed whether his car is mod or standard.

good example but got one flaw. Which car is more likely to reach 140km/h faster and hence creating more danger? and if I let you drive Jazz, would you try to outrace a mod car who just happen to be beside you at a red traffic light? He is revving his engine to signal to you for a race. You are driving a Jazz, would you tell him that you are game for a race?

Of cos its the mentality of the driver that cause accidents. But it is also the surrounding factors which play a part, for example, what kind of car you have. Come on, bro, you dun have mod car also speed. what happens if you get a mod car?? :D

the tow trunk was a great idea. hmmm, very creative. i supposed if you happens to see a TP riding recklessly...can try to lodge a complain...but who knows..your car might become the top hit in TP black book. haha

if im not wrong, the TP didnt really attend a special riding course...its actually similiar to the ones SAF bikers attended. advanced balancing, manuvour and cross terrain riding. i guess probably one find them fast becoz by instinct when you see them in your side mirror, you naturally slow down. haha thats why they seem so fast to you. lol singaporean tendacies..

bottomline, just dont drink and drive. cheers and have a happy new year. anyway, new year eve, there probably will have another crackdown. my friend just warned me.

With mod or without mod my speed in expressway without much traffic is always 120km/h. The idea of mod is not because u can drive at higher speed, but most of the time is how fast a car can pick up from 0km/h to 100km/h n above.

It is of cos not a go ahead race. If I'm driving a WRX n a modded Jazz wants to race with me, I will smile to myself n drive normally. This apply the same, if I drive a mod car n jazz rev, I also drive as normal cos I know waste time, unless the jazz if super mod with thousand n thousands of good stuffs in the engine. If I drive a WRX, if a car indicate race, I will race. Hmmm but my WRX is a standard WRX no mod leh.... all these boil down to the DRIVER.

Come on, bro, you dun have mod car also speed. what happens if you get a mod car?? :D

Yes, with or without mod, with 265bhp WRX or less than 100bhp Jazz, I will still speed at 120km/h as mentioned above.

by mod we increase the air n petrol mixture which will help in the air pollution which the LTA dun understand this theory

Help in air pollution? Hmm... no wonder they stop u.. :p

The idea of mod is not because u can drive at higher speed, but most of the time is how fast a car can pick up from 0km/h to 100km/h n above.

fair enough. is your reaction time any faster given that you can get up to 100km/h faster? dun think so right? everyone wants to accelerate faster but can everyone react faster and in time? dun think so again. Remember, safety first and the gahmen is using one stick to measure everyone as a whole, not individual or case by case basis.

It is of cos not a go ahead race. If I'm driving a WRX n a modded Jazz wants to race with me, I will smile to myself n drive normally. unless the jazz is super mod then you will race? see, you just proven my pt! dun forget, gahmen making policy is for people as one. you think they bother about some drivers thinking about this, thinking about that. hello! these people sit in an office making policy. you think they conduct survey after people pass their driving tests... "sir, will you speed if....."? The bottom line is sg gahmen do not want people to race and place other drivers in danger. simple as that. what are your individual driving habits, they dun care. they rather effect a policy now than live to regret that they never effected the policy at all. You are not looking at the BIG picture. you are looking at just yourself which isn't representative. It is unfortunate but it is reality. We just have to accept it.

why don't you want to mod your WRX? should what. I would. just dun try to catch up to TP lah. :D

ok lah, enough of this. sidetrack too much oridi. when exactly you coming back? catch up leh.

Talk about the breather analyser block check point....
Can consider to park the car outside the JC zone....maybe off the main JC road into the side road towards Still road. I will not mind walking a good 200 metres to pick up my car rather than risk it. The 200 meters walk will also be a good test to better feel the impact of the alcohol and judge whether we are sober enough to drive. At times, we are just sit and drink...without feeling the full rush of it. With movement...the blood flows faster. Anway....after drinking....dun speed to allow more time to react as our reflexes are slower.

Cheers!!! :)

agreed. hopefully parking @ those side roads will not raise residents complaining about illegal parking.

Try to park at designated lot. Else if need to park illegally...just dun park right infornt of the resident's hse.

Also share a lot on my personal experience...on drink drive.

1)Have a tone down period of 1 to 2 hrs and drink lots of water after a heavy drinking session.
2)Walk a good distance before picking up the car to gauge if you are in a condition for driving. If you can't even walk properly, forget about driving.
3)Have a pack of minty stuff in your car. Grab and chew on them once you see a possible road block ahead. Hopefully it can musk off as much alochol smell as possible.

When approaching an police check point/road block,

A)Wake up any passenger who might be sleeping... if there is someone sleeping in car...you will most likely be requested to do a test.
B)Project soberness as your car is about to come to an complete halt, act pro-active to retrieve your wallet from the the back pocket of your bum and take it out and action to take out your driving lic from the wallet to show to the policeman. I tried it several times and was signal to go without even requesting me to wind down the car window.

Having said all, i will like to urge all bros not to risk drink driving.

Wishing all a good 2005!!
Cheers!!
