For the very first time I feel very annoy n pai seh to be in a plane with S'porean. I dun like ang mo but today was the only time I wish I'm a ang mo for awhile.
Story began with a group of S'porean abt 7 of them. They were unlucky not able to sit together n was separted. They talked like they own the whole plane. Even I wore my ear piece I can hear wat they were talking abt. 1 of the ger stood up n wanted to use the business class washroom but was occupied so she needs to go to the rear washroom, while she was walking she shouted I hated taking plane in Hokkien.
So the talking went on for awhile, then a angmo, sounded out "shhhhh". A ger from the group, said out loud in hokkien "Shhhhh wat?? We are all S'porean." KNN immediate I felt disgrace. At that moment I wish I'm not recognise out as part of them, S'porean. They continued with their laughters n talk.
The plane finally landed in Changi. While the plane was moving, the same ger stood n opened the compartment to take all her stuffs n sat down. A friend of hers stood up but was told politely by the air steward to wait for the plane to stop. The ger immediately laughed out loud n said in Hokkien, "Y u so suay?? I opened nothing happened? U stand up he can't do anything"
This tread is started just to remind everyone pls be considered n dun be a fucking fool.

Saw similar things on SQ plane today. S'pore couples saw occupied by old China couples, ask steward to help, old coupl move to correct seat, the S'pore girl grumbled saying "So stupid" with a disgusted look.
Sad to see such behaviour.

I faced a similar experience with group of Singapore ladies. I am on my way to Bangkok via Tiger Airway, as you know this budget airway does not allot seating location when you check in. These kiasu lady disregarded the procedure announced by the airline staff and jump the Q, overtaking those older passenger and those with kids. Inside the aircraft they blocked the passageway and each try to occupy a double seat. Making so much noises when notice that the food are not free............................no doubt these are only a handful of urgly Singaporean, but it really reflects and gives a very bad image and impression, internationally , especially air travel.
The way they talked n annouced that they r S'porean loudly. If there is a hole I will bury my head into it. I feel like asking her, wat is the big fuck as being a s'porean??
For me, guess I will be thick skinned enough to tell her off. Most of the time, I find these idiots get embarassed and quietly go to one corner and hide.
Sigh, reminds me of those times when I go for tours (eg, to US) and I get all these SGreans complaining loudly in the restaurant that the Chinese food (buffet) tasted so yucky, blah, blah, and next time the tour guide suggested dun go to Chinese restaurant, complain again and say Chinese must each chinese food, etc. KNN, those are chinese food cooked for angmos. Once I suggested why not ask the Chef to come out and asked him to cook specially for the group - according to the way they want. Wah all tock like shiok shiok good idea but when found out gotta pay extra (of course lah), all kept quite and pretend as if nothing happened. After dinner, still complain food not tasty, SG hawker food even better. KNN jing jing, might as well stay at home!

Dear All,
I travelled extensively to China, and I have seen some situations that many brotheres have mentioned in this posting. However, I must say that, fortunately, the frequency of such happenings is relatively low now. Nevertheless, one or two incidents would be enough to tarnish the reputation of Singaporeans, amongst whom I am one.
I would like to recount an incident in a fligth to Chengdu on an Airbus A320. A two row, 3 seat a side is the seat arrangement. There were two quite Chinese ladies sitting at the last row, one of them was quite attractive. They were crowded around by a group of, sigh... male Singaporeans (they were wearing black colour T-shirt with company logo printed on it). On my trip to the toilet, and while waiting for my turn, the men were asking for all kind of questions, with one objective, making advances to the two ladies, like, "would you like to be my company during my stay?" "Give me your phone number, and we can have fun together", etc. The conversation (rather one sided, as the ladies were not even looking at them) was sprinkled with a number of dirty jokes. I could see that the two ladies were irritated by this group of men. As there were 5 to 6 men, the talking got very noisy and the atmosphere at that part of the plane was very unpleasant that caused many passengers turned their head and looked at them. While waiting for my luggage, the two ladies were standing not far from me, and they were again surrounded by the the same group of men. At the end, one of the girls shouted "Why you Singaporeans are so "se"?" ("se" means colour in Mandarin). At that moment, I wished that my luggage has come out so that I could leave the place as fast as I could.
This could be an isolated incident, but it was enough to irritate me and others.

I think these isolated incidents are happening quite frequently as more sporeans get to travel out. But I've to say its not isolated to sporeans only. I've seen Indons, PRCs, Indians, koreans and even HKers and ROCs behaving badly. Infact sad to say, mostly asians. Haizz.

I hear, understand and share your feelings about how annonying it is when people don't follow the rules.
However, the HP being on doesn't compromise air safety at all. It's just some stupid rule (it's a good stupid rule though - I hate it when poeple talk in enclosed spaces like restaurants). If it was truly safety related, mobiles would be banned from airplane cabins outright. At any given time, I'd bet there are more than a couple mobiles turned on (purposely or inadvertently) in carry-ons all over the world.
So the point here is the sanctity of the rule. Personally I don't care if someone is using a mobile on a plane - just be quiet and respect the space of people around you.

I would have told them to stop bothering the ladies or else I'd write and complain to their company about their very public sexual harassment. Idiots who wear company-logo'ed shirts and yet stupid enough not to check their behavior deserve to be hung out to dry. I never wear company shirts on any trip (business or otherwise) so that I cannot be identified :D

I agree that this kind of behaviour is not prevalent to any specific race or ethnic groups. Rather, it is the individual's psyche, and most often in this instances, compounded by "herd behaviour", that are the causes of these displays of social depravity.
Most recently, I was on board a plane bound for Timor, with a mainly Portuguese speaking group of travellers. Most of the took the front half of the plane, which was excellent, as they were loud, and uncouth.
Most of them (especially a certain few) were behaving like the whole freaking plane belonged to them, talking loudly, and moving all over the place ( was a pretty small plane). there were quite a few other asians, namely some Chinese workers, and couple of indonesians, towards the end of the plane, who were just hoping with catching up with some sleep.
Well, not content with just making noise in the front, a few of these angmohs (and a few blacks), had to come towards the rear of the plane, where the aisle seats were empty, and continue talking loudly with the occasional loud guffaws. ccb. and i was trying to sleep!
fucking pricks.
Main incident, pilot made an announcement over the intercom, but the ppl up infront were too engrossed in their ribaldry to listen.
At that instance, a sweet looking (as do most indonesian air stewardess) passed by, and was asked in a gesture what the message was about. She gave a smile, and held up both her hands to mimic the spraying of aerosol cans (as most of those who travel to australia would know, is required throughout the length of the plane).
She continued and left the cabin area.
The fucking pricks (as I'ld now call them) started to make imbecilic remarks and jokes about the gesture (which, granted, looks like a "ma-ti" sign), and one blonde woman went as far as to stand up, showed the 3 universal fuck-you sign (third finger, slap right palm against left fist on the thumb and fore-finger, and right hand going under left arm)
totally disgraceful.

What u said is quite true or maybe true. Its a stupid rule.
If not why there is a phone, payable by credit card, on every seat.
It cost USD8.00/minute to make calls from that set.
So, do you mean that those phone does not emits frequency that would disturb the aricraft?!??!?!??

Aircraft contain a vast array of complex electronic equipment and communications systems. Using a cellular phone in an aircraft could cause interference to these systems because they were not designed to tolerate such interference. Similar comments apply to the use of personal computers, portable stereos and other personal electronic equipment in aircraft. It should be noted that the credit-card mobile phones now provided on some aircraft do not interfere with aircraft systems because they are wired to a special type of base station that has been designed to safely receive and transmit radio signals to and from the aircraft.

hi,
I weould tend to disagree with you... as you may well have noticed, when you switch on your mobile phone if you are near any radio or speaker, you can hear this noise...
This is the interference we are talking about..... Many of the high-tech landing and navigation system on the plane will be disrupted by these signals...
The phones on board the aircraft have special frequency (not the usual 900 Mhz that the GSM phone uses) that do not disrupt with the equipment on board....
This is the same reason why mobile phones are not allowed into the Intensive Care Unit in many hospitals because they may interfere with the medical equipment in use.
I really do not understand the mentality of passengers who cannot wait five minutes until the plane has come to a complete stop or until they are inside the terminal...
I have had times scolded these people by asking thewm if they are illiterate and cannot understand the instructions or whether they are just plain stupid and refuse to listen to instructions.

In fact I believe every countries have someone which act disgraceful to represent their country. even rich countries people is the same. but I am surprise when doing so , some singaporean just could not stop telling people `I am a singaporean!' and show people `I am more superior from you so I can do what I want to' face, some singaporean is really like to do so during oversea. I believe these people don't really know how big is the world. There are not such things `superior' in human, not even mention between countries. Sometime, some `Politician' will say `singaporean be proud of yourself', please don't get it wrong, just to be proud to yourself but don't be proud to others.

I had a similar experience one on the plane from SG to England, stupid fucker a couple of rows in front of me talking on the phone when the plane was getting ready to take off. Ignored the air stewardess, so i gave him 2 mins before i went up to him and took his phone off him, the stupid fucker just sat there and didn't dare say anything. If he had tried anything, I would've thrown him out the door. CCB.
Anyway, he complained so I gave the phone to this air steward which they gave it back after the plane had taken off. Gave me fucking dirty looks throughout the 14hr flight, damn stupid, I hate these guys, want to fight dun have the guts, only know how to sit there and stare...
It was quite cool though, everyone around me was damn quiet throughout the flight... :D

I guess the way we were brought up and the society we are in NOW - make these ppl so ignorant and arrogant... We were told to be the BEST in everything and MERITORCY and what not - that caused many to become self-centred , selfish and develop superiority complex.
I am a Singaporean and it is shameful and embrassing to see fellow Singaporean behave they are superior and rich especially in JKT, BKK , Manila, KL and other ASEAN cities . I travelled regionally almost every week. My foreign business associates dislike Sinagporean as they feel Sinagporean is "cocky" and insensitive .
We must learn to be humble and sensitive to other country culture and customs. We cannot impose our foreign counterparts on the way we work in Singapore . We must learn to be gracious and bring the good name of Singapore .....

THis is gonna be history. Towards the end of yr 2005, hospitals will allow doctors to carry / use cellphones in certain areas of the hospitals during their shift. The reason being, doctors claimed they could not find a phone to return call in emergency situations. Some doctors even said the some of the hospital phones are faulty.
Fact : When I was in NUH visiting someone, I already see nurses / doctors, sms-ing / calling their BFs and GFs using their mobilephones during workin hrs (in the ICU somemore) despite the ruling of using mobilephones in hospitals not implemented yet...this goes to show most S'poreans are not only disgraceful, they are irresponsible as well.

Bro I learnt that HP transmission signals can interfere with the radio frequency of the cockpit when taking off /landing this in turn may cause the messages to go blank and may misinterpreted by pilots and cause air crash..
eg. Control Tower: "SQ112..Please wait for clarance to take off" may be heard as " Sq112.. Please hiss..hisss take off"
This one I learnt from National Geographic Channel Seconds to Disaster & Air crash Investigations program

Can, not ferry but ship. But you have to take 2 days earlier, so when you almost reach liao then I take a plane from Btm go there and meet you

Agreed. I thought Panda Express (US Chinese food chain available in most food courts) was heaven sent when I missed my chinese food!
ha ha ha, never thought i would see Panda Express being mentioned here, brings back memories of their sweet and sour chicken. however, given a choice, i'd still look for small chinese restaurants, their food abit more authentic, ha ha :p

samster or no samster, there's nothing great about being a samster. a samster is just a contributor, participator or a voyeur in this forum.
disgraceful or Loser with a capital "L" or a dashing cassonova or a great flirt, all are normal people, samster or no samster.

However, the HP being on doesn't compromise air safety at all. It's just some stupid rule (it's a good stupid rule though - I hate it when poeple talk in enclosed spaces like restaurants). If it was truly safety related, mobiles would be banned from airplane cabins outright.
Whether it compromise air safety or not,it is not the issue..It MAY like one of the brudders here had said, interrupt the call from pilots to the tower..And because of a few irresponsible people, the other few hundred people in the plane are at risk...
Its like if I drive over the speed limit on the road, does it mean I am gonna kill someone??What about the chewing gum ban in Singapore??Does it mean that if I chew gum,I am going to harm anyone??
There are many rules here which are which many people will consider 'kiasu' or even 'kiasi' but at the end of the day it is for everyone's safety and comfort..
So let us all be responsible adults and abide by rules, unless you guys want the authorities impose fines on us before we are willing to abide!!
Cheers
