I want to find a good hotel with the following criteria in Johor Bahru

Near to Woodlands Causeway or within 10-20 min taxi ride
Room is clean and nice, like H81 here
Has bath tub (will be very nice to have)
Has good amenities like food and shopping mall just under or within 5 min walk.
Low affordable rates, looking for 150 MYR or less, max 200 MYR

Please help me bros, with ur suggestions. Even if not all criteria fulfill (bath tub may be hard to find), please throw in ur suggestions anyway. Thanks so much.

I'll be going there on Tuesday night with someone so a bit urgent. I'm lost searching on Google for a good hotel, unlike SG where I can rely on H81, dunno what to rely on in JB!!...

I only stayed in Zen Zeng (Jln Tun Abdul Razak) there before but I don't want to stay there at all again coz I don't like the location.. too remote from amenities!

Hi bros how are ur experiences in these hotels? I read online reviews for every hotel in jb, bad maintenance, bad customer service, bad food, bad linen (mite infested) etc.. citrus looks nice in picture and it's very conveniently nearby though no bath tub but even that has bad reviews everywhere, especially maintenance (cockroaches!). And then there is mosquito problem...

Coz I wanna know whether these bad reviews are just bad publicity.. the people who had a good time wouldn't bother writing about it but those who had a bad time will go around complaining about it everywhere.. you get what I mean? :)

Do you book online or just walk in? Do you get better rates either way or is it the same? For example, online I find offers like 50% off, do I get the same for walk in? Or I need to make reservations online to enjoy it?

Surprised no one recommended Citrus hotel which is just next to the checkpoint/mall. Except for the bath tub, it fulfilled all the criteria I mentioned. We were impressed by how clean, inviting and spacious the room was. The standard and superior rooms are around 149-169 MYR but they ran out of it so we had to take a club room at 209 MYR (without breakfast for which you need to add 20).

It was well worth the money with a really spacious room with a dressing section that has a safe, wine chiller and a wardrobe with bathrobes and slippers inside. The bathroom was clean and white with enough space and good towels. Only problem was that the toilet faucet broke in the middle of the night but we could shut it off and it wasn't a big deal.

We ordered food and I was impressed by their presentation and ingredients. Try their chicken curry with rice or mixed vegetables with rice. Their grilled chicken wings were yummy. Only complaint was the chickens were undercooked and a little bloody, but I'm sure u can tell them to cook it well. The guy from the cafe was very patient when we were ordering.

All in all we enjoyed our stay at Citrus hotel. Anyone in this thread looking for hotel recommendations please try it. You'll see the hotel right after u walk out of Johor checkpoint; it's very easy to find.

Renaissance Hotel has just opened in Permas Jaya. If you are driving, just join the new Easrern Dispersal Link and you can be at the hotel within 7 to 8 minutes. They are quoting RM290 per nite. Shops and Jusco Shopping Mall are within walking distance. Have fun:D

Personally I find KSL City hotel good!! They hv slumberland king size bed with 2 bolsters some more.. Rarely do I see hotels providing bolsters but they do, and they got cleaning back side device attached to the toilet seat .. After doing big business, can press button to auto wash for u ..think I paid around SG$130+ through hotel.com a few months back, certainly worth the money! N the breakfast buffet spread was good.

But please skip Zon The Regency unless u want to hv cheap beer at the pubs besides the hotel.. Cause there are no shops there, very ulu and the bed very poor quality, think no brand one, soft soft one .. Cannot make it .. Breakfast also terrible super limited food like less than 10 choices .. One thing good is the pubs besides the hotel sell really cheap beer, A tower of tiger beer only RM105 n it will be much cheaper if go during happy hours.

Between these 2 hotels, I highly recommend KSL City hotel .. Newly built and feel safer and more comfortable, with nice food outside the mall too.. Zon's carpark hardly see any sg car except ours. Both offer free parking though.

TS, just realise your citeria .. For less than 200RM with good location, can try 11@century hotel just infront of KSL city hotel. I paid around SG60 for a night stay a few weeks back .. Its location is good just that I don't really like the bed, noisy, and breakfast buffet selection was bad.. FYI, superior rooms are located on low floors n there is a pub right besides the hotel so its noisy. The pub here beers r much more expensive compared to zon regency outside pubs.

One of my first hotel stays in jb was KSL city hotel so think I find the rest of hotels not good ... But for budget stay, think can choose 11@century hotel cause of its location- outside the hotel, along the shop houses got nice bak kut teh, geylang frog porridge (1 frog -RM10, 3 frogs-RM28, very cheap n nice), pontian wanton mee, claypot rice etc.. But if u willing to spend more, pls choose ksl city .

I love going jb eating and trying out the hotels.. Gonna try Grand Paragon hotel (near ksl city), Grand Bluwave n a small boutique hotel called bliss next .. Jb hotels are indeed much cheaper than SG.. But I know KSL city hotel although their 5 star hotel can't match our ritz Carlton, Fullerton .. But for $130+ .. Guess its much better than staying at hotel 81.

If you guys know any nice hotels in jb, let me know..

But to add, TS 11@century hotel superior room has no bath tub though, and also no swimming pool .. Just super basic hotel. Free carpark besides the hotel, the guard will issue you a parking slip which indicates " free parking" when tell them u hotel guest. Then when you exit pass the slip to the guard will do. Heard from some people, need to redeem the parking fee of rm5 from hotel recept if you paying in advance. But if you taking public transport, its 5-10 mins drive away from customs. Should cost you less than RM8 or take bus from woodlands customs.

Enjoy bonking, shopping and eating in JB..
