Hmm...everyone's talking about HIV. Just thought of something:

if you are HIV positive, and CDC has been informed, what happens to your reservist training?

Are they going to continue training even though you are positive? Risky to everyone rite?

With regards to the above question. Well the HIV positive reservist can immediately dekit and wave goodbye to his unit.

most likely........not only will you find yourself not wanted by your reservist unit anymore.... you will also find yourself shun by friends and the local community.

nowaday i realise i have to be more careful with my word and restrict myself commenting too much on the policies and practise by those man in white... becoz..of the recent blogging saga.

i think from the limited info that i have, you still have to go on with your reservist. As the status of your HIV is kept confidential to everyone except MOH, no one else will know except if you sign a release allowing MOH to notify MINDEF of your status.

Reason I can give you a proper answer is because the same situation arose when I was in NS.

I worked in the Reservist Branch, and someone posed the same question.

Well, if you have gone for anonymous testing, the results are anonymous and you will maintain your Pes status and go on for reservist.

However, if your testing was done at a government clinic and/or private clinic, the results are reportable and this will be also sent to your unit.

HIV - Pes F status immediately.

Dear Swinger,

If one is HIV+ and CDC has been informed, you will be discharged from your reservist training/liabilities automatically - for good.

Going through training with the rest of the camp mates is not risky to anyone at all (unless you plan to have unprotected sex with him - we hope NOT!)

Rather the risk would be high for the HIV person - if his body immunity is down and any rigourous and vigourous training might harm him.

A different scenario would be if one is HIV+ and diagnosed through annonymous testing, training would still go on. However, bearing in mind that once a HIV+ person is weakening by the day - physically, it will be almost impossible to go for reservist. At some point, things will be hard to keep underwrap.

Be safe! Safe guard from any nasty HIV infections through safer sex.

For all samster reading this, if you have other questions, brothers you are most welcome to drop us an email for one-to-one counselling - anything relating to STI/HIV-AIDS.

Best wishes
