If he gets very violent after you refuse him sex, then I think you shouldn't be in this relationship at all, as it's not safe to be around him. If not, he can get very violent when he does not get his way, which is not the way to have a relationship.

All in all, it's your own body. You can decide to give consent or to deny him. He shouldn't have to get violent. However, it does affect the relationship, and if you all cannot talk it out, it might not be safe for you. :(
