Propecia prevents the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the body.

in theory, this is correct.

a procscar tablet contains 5 mg of finasteride. if we cut it into 5 smaller pieces, the content is the same as a 1 mg of finasteride which we are using to control hairfall.

however , when i asked my doctor, she explained that , proscar is not meant to be consumed in this manner.

- the coating on proscar, is different from finasteride.
- the time time taken for the stomach acid to break and absorb the medication to make it effective is different.
- the oxidisation by leaving the cut pieces exposed to the air might render the cut pieces ineffective.

basically in layman terms, you wont want to be eating something that is not meant for its initial intended purpose.
