Hi Bros, I have a question regarding student visas. Can anyone recommend a private school for my foreign gf to learn English here? 6m to 1y course that is hopefully not too expensive. Thanks all in advance!

It's for my foreign gf who I have been seeing for almost a year now. Hopefully she can study here for a few months and if all goes well we might tie the knot:)

I don't know how you got to know this "girlfriend", but your elaboration sounds like she 's been here before working in the sex industry. If it is really the case, you better save your money and spend it else where. :)

TS, register her for English course at British Council. Slightly more expensive but sure to qualify.

Hi Bro,
Thanks very much for your information. I checked with them but unfortunately our budget is quite tight. Any schools with cheaper fees?

What about applying for scholarship for some degree courses in NTU or NUS.
Not only it's free, you would still have monthly allowance. :)

Don't think it is easy to get scholarship, but no harm trying :)

Why not think of letting her come me here to work w work permit? What's her level of education? Like that, she can save on tuition money n get some income

Hi Bro,
Thank you for the suggestion. She is a recent university graduate from Bangkok but her grades are below average and her english is passable at best. I think if she were to work here her best bet would be retail assistant but will the shops apply for a work permit for her? I'm not too sure on this area so hopefully you might have some ideas...:p

You PM me, I recommend the school to you, moreover I can help you with the student pass application as well.
If your gf apply for job need to pay for hefty agent fee.

Foreign university graduate is over qualified to be retail assistant. Even if there is company willing to employ her, NTUC will strongly object if they come to know.
However if it is a PR or local SGP citizen university graduate, then it is not a problem at all even if they want to work as cleaners or manual workers. There was a case where a guy with Masters degree was retrenched and went to NTUC for assistance and he was asked to drive taxi. This guy actually became a taxi driver for 9 months giving SGP the dubious record of having the world's best educated taxi drivers.

Employers want the cheapest, fastest and bestest workers, our locals are not in that category :D

If u really intend to marry her, why not just ROM n apply LTVP for her? Subsequently can apply for PR.
Save u all the trouble of getting a student pass for her to stay here. If she is on student pass, she is not allowed to work too.

Hi bro,
Many thanks for your suggestion. I want to apply for the student pass first so I can see how she interacts with my parents and whether they can get along before going to rom. Hope you can understand where i am coming from..

Hi Bro,

No. I have never heard of tuition fee this cheap. Think about that, sending a kid to nursery school also costs more than 1K per month. Even after she is recruited, you still need to pay for the registration fee, library fee, all these kinda stuffs.
Some more in order to be recruited, your "girlfriend" needs to produce a bank statement to prove that she has enough saving for her 6-month living expenses in Singapore.
Again, I don't want to pour cold water on you. But if she previously worked in the sex industry and that's how you met her. Please forget about her and move on.
