Last night, after dinner, I was taking a walk on the road. When I walked past a convenient store I thought of going in to buy something. Then I realized that I did not have money with me. So I phoned my family to bring some money to me.

While waiting for my money, I saw an old man burning joss paper by the road side. I went to have a chat with him.

"What are you doing here?" I asked the old man.
"I am sending money to my family", he said.
Then he asked me, "What are you doing here?"
I replied "I am waiting for my family to send money to me."

On hearing this, his face turned pale and he ran away quickly.
I shouted to him, "Hey, don't run! I'm just waiting for my family to send money to me!"
Suddenly, all the people burning joss paper nearby also ran away.

Every time you ejaculate, you reduce the yang energy in your body. In the month of hungry ghost particularly, yang energy is essential to prevent one from being too connective to the spirit.

The real reason is from the Buddism for the mass chanting and the merits for the living and the dead(If i still remember), and then the Taoism take some parts from it and modified it abit becos they realised that many dead came to hear the chanting to gain merits :D

Exactly, try kicking the offerings and burning while it is still in progress and not the very next day, then probably good luck to that person.

Heard of a story from someone while at the thai shop getting blessings from ajarn, that one guy knew of a contractor (boss) driving big Merc and had a crew of workers doing construction. On one of the day of 7th month, the crew pool some money and made offerings at the construction site after dinner and just before the beginning of the OT, but the boss came kicking the stuff and chased the workers to get the work started soon. From that onwards, that's the declining fade of this boss, his main con collapsed and he could not collect payment, he changed from Merc to a Japanese car and eventually to driving a van after 3 years. Business went from big to small odd jobs. Wondering if this was coincidentally or just ill fade of poor economy, but there is always pay back time.

Ur post reminded me of an incident. I am a baba mix around with malays/javanese during my kampong days. Even till now i still keep in touch with some of them.

There was this group of Malay boys playing football. There were offerings on the side of the field and Amat (9 yrs old) accidentally kicked the ball together with the offering. He continued playing till late evening. That very night Amat was yelling and crying in pain. Kept telling her mum pain in his right eye. His parent brought him to consult a doctor. Not much help. Next day still in pain. 2nd day worst down with high fever. Amat parent decided to bring their child to see a dukun/bomoh. According to the latter, the bomoh said Amat had kicked and blinded the spirit eye while it was eating. So the spirit taking vengeance on him. Bomoh claimed he cant help much and advise Amat parent to seek spiritual help from the Chinese temple. Parent intended to bring Amat next following day but it was too late. That very nite Amat died. I still remember deceased parent told me before Amat died he like suddenly recovered. No pain and asked for 7 different type of food cos he was hungry. Before food arrived he passed away.

So spirit boh kam cheng ya. No compassion. No feeling. U cross their path at ur own risk. Believe or not up to individual. U deliberately go mess up those offerings at public places better be sure "they" are not there eating drinking away.:D

Let me share my worst ever experience of 7 month. Just last Monday night after 11pm i offer prayer for the 7 month Hao Xiong Di at my stayed hotel in VN buon mi thuat city province of Daklak. This is where i work in. So on the 20th which is the 2 day of 7 month morning there is a guy died in his room just 4 rooms away from me. Worst is that morning i realize why so many of the hotel staff is back to work under such low peak period. Until i hear noise at the corridor of my room i went out to kpo whats going on the other room. Then only i saw the dead body lying on the bed died of heart attack. Scared the shit of out my life that 2 nights im the only tenants in the whole hotel staying in with a guard sleeping at the lobby. Immediately Saturday i look for another hotel and flee as fast as possible.
