Monday

Some passersby looked at me curiously, wondering why a grown man was crying outside an office building. I was not too bothered with their glazes as there were other things on my mind.

My ex-girlfriend, who was just in her mid-twenties now, had married another man a few years back and I understood the circumstances that caused her to do so. Since then, although I still loved her dearly, I thought that her heart was no longer with me and had accepted her decision.

However, just 5 mins earlier, I was not sure if she had even did it on purpose, but I reckoned that she still had feelings for me. Moreover, I suspected that my own child was now 3 years old but was acknowledging her husband as his father unknowingly.

Due to the above related incident almost 4 years ago, I had received a payment of a million dollars. Fortunately, my dad had invested wisely and astutely for me and grown it to a few million dollars. Together with my parents, we set up a company locally before heading to China to set up a wholly foreign-owned enterprise (WFOE) over there, leaving everything here behind.

The initial 6 months, setting up the WFOE in a new country, was tough. I met with lots of bumps along the way since I was still green and inexperience. I almost wanted to give up but my dad was there to support and guided me to success.

Although dad was never a businessman, he had many years of experiences dealing with situations while he was working for others in a SME. On top of that, he had also built some good contacts over there who helped us a greatly in our business.

Over the next 3.5 years, I grew the business but eventually sold off the companies to an offer that I could not reject.

Since then, I had returned home while my parents took the opportunity to fulfill their life long dream of touring the world for the next 6 months.

I wiped my tears and made my way home.

As my whole family was out of the country for the past few years, our flat was rented out to some tenants and the lease would only expire in another 6 months time. Now I was back, I decided to rent a condo on my own in the Eastern side of Singapore rather than chasing them out from my parent's place.

Sitting in my living room, I had already made up my mind to confirm if Jamie still had feelings for me or if the child was my kid before taking any actions. Unfortunately, it was not going to be as easy as it sounded.

The last time I met her 4 years ago, there was a body guard with her. Although I was not sure if she was still under surveillance, I did not want to take the chance and inadvertently alert her parent-in-laws even before I took any actions.

Her in-laws, William Sim and Beth Tay, were rich and powerful people and I would not want to directly cross-swords with them. So, from now onwards, every move I made, it would be just like playing chess and I had to plan meticulously. Any wrong moves might potentially blow up to become a huge mess and get her into trouble.

During the time while I was in China, one of the most important thing that I learnt was to have reliable and trustworthy contacts who were able to complete the jobs that I had needed, in stealth mode. The other thing that I learned was to keep every assignment separate so that it would minimize the repercussions just in case I was betrayed.

I picked up my phone and called Jason.

He was a guy I saved 2.5 years ago when I came back for some business meetings. I was having my lunch at a coffee shop when a gang fight happened suddenly.

Jason and some of his guys were sitting at the next table when another group rushed in from nowhere at started attacking them. In the melee, Jason was stabbed and somehow, his guys managed to fend off the attackers and went chasing after them.

By then, most of the patrons in the coffeeshop had already disappeared from the gang fight but Jason was bleeding profusely from his wounds. Without consideration for my own safety, I immediately went over to help him, using whatever knowledge I had learned from the army to stop the bleeding. Before he was taken away in a ambulance, he asked me for my number.

If I had not helped him then, he would have bled to death and he was grateful about that. Since then, even though I was in China, we kept in touch and built up a friendship from there. Each time I came back for business, we would meet up for coffee.

When I saved him back then, I did not know that he was already an underworld leader, a triad boss, and I had never thought that I would ever need his help. He already knew that I had sold the business and returned home.

Jason (Hokkien): Hey bro! what's up? Want to catch up for coffee?.....

Me (H): sure bro and I also need 5 burner phones..... are you able to get them for me?

Jason (H): why so many? Are you in trouble?

Me (H): I'll tell you when we meet.... when can I get them?

Jason (H): 1 hour.... I'll meet you at the Jalan Kayu prata place.....

An hour later, I was at the location. He arrived shortly with 2 of his guys.

Jason was 38 and when he was wearing a T-shirt, he looked like any normal guy as his tattoos were only on his torso.

His henchmen took another table and he sat beside me before asking what had happened. I only told him that it was a personal matter and left Jamie completely out from our conversation.

Jason (Hokkien): chey.... ok... if you need help let me know ok?

Me (H): yes.... sure..... so the phones are ready?

Jason (H): yah.... here....

He passed me a bag.

Me (H): how much is it?

Jason (H): no need lah..... this one small money and we don't talk about money between brothers..... I owed my life to you.....

Me (H): wah.... that's long history..... can don't talk about it any more? I just did what I could.....

Jason (H): haha..... ok... ok..... just let me know what other help you need..... you can count on me.....

Me (H): ermmm..... yes, there's one other thing..... I'll need your guys to help me deliver something to someone....

Jason (H): now?

He was about to turn and call one of his guys.

Me (H): no.... not now bro..... I'll let you know again.....

Jason (H): hmm..... but it's not illegal drugs or something like that right? You know I don't touch such things..... hahaha

Using one of the burned phone, I called up another contact, Qai.

Qai was Chinese and was located in the border town of Mong Cai, Vietnam, and Dongxingzhen, China, so that he could travel between the countries easily. Whenever he had an assignment, he would go into Vietnam to do it.

Qai did not belong to any company or organization. He was a IT security cum hacker that was introduced to me. Over the past few years, I had engaged his services a few times to get information of competitors that were not readily available and he had never failed me. Since then, I had built up a good rapport with him and someone I could also trust.

Me (Mandarin): "the sun is bright today"....

He hung up the phone.

That was my passcode when I needed something from him and he would call me back from a burned number that he used. He was extremely careful about his activities as he might be arrested if he was caught.

After 30 seconds, my phone rang, displaying an unknown a Vietnam number.

Qai (M): hey brother..... how are you?

Me (M): I'm good.....

Qai (M): so what can I do for you?

Me (M): I need details about a woman...... I need to know everything about her, her child, her parents and also her friends.....

Qai (M): sure..... send me her details.....

Me (M): I don't have her details..... only her name, pictures and her husband name....

I gave him the information about Cory's family.

Qai (M): ok.... that will be enough for me...... I'll call you again on Wednesday.....

Me (M): how much are the charges?

Qai (M): haha.... there's no charges...... whatever you had given me when you sold your company is enough to cover another 50 times you come to me.....

Me (M): ok then..... thanks....

I picked up a 2nd burned phone and called up a 3rd person, Wang.

He was a fiftyish guy and used to be in the military in his country. From what I knew, he used to be a high ranking official and had since retired. After that, he had set up various businesses across the country and he was introduced to us by Coleen, who was our main supplier.

Before we even went over, dad had approached him. Wang had agreed to help us by linking us with some of his contacts and we paid him a substantial amount for it. Since then, I had worked with him many times and found that he was a trustworthy person. When we sold our business, we had given him an enormous red packet to thank him for his helped along the way.

Me (Mandarin): Hello Wang "zhong" (chairman), how are you?

Wang (M): Hello, Scott! Long time no speak.... Is there something I could do for you?

Me (M): yes.... do you know any private investigator in my country?

Wang (M): I know some people in this business over there....

Me (M): I need someone with the capabilities of digging up dirt from the rich and powerful....

Wang (M): Of course..... He's my 2nd in command in the military..... I trust him and I'll give my personal guarantee to you....

After 30mins, I received a text from Wang with the person number. I used the same phone that I called Wang with and made the call.

Chen (M): Hello.... who is this?

Me (M): Wang recommended me....

I was surprised when he spoke to me in English and there was no trace of his accent.

Chen: ok.... he told me that you needed someone to dig up some dirt.....

me: yes.... you speak good English.....

Chen: yes.... I've been here for a long time and took up speech classes..... so what is it?

Me: I need detailed information about a person..... someone who have rich and powerful backing....... Do you dare to do it?

Chen: Not an issue..... who is it?

I gave him Cory's name and background.

Chen: I've seen his parents on the newspapers but I don't think I saw him before.... but it's not a problem.....

He quoted me an amount of 20k.

Me: ok.... I'll get someone to send the money to you tomorrow.....

Chen: you know that you don't have to pay me the full sum first, right?

I already knew the rules of his trade and that he just needed to collect half the amount first.

Me: Yes.... Let me know if there're any out of pocket expenses.....

Chen: My quote always includes everything. So it's nett..... After I received your down payment, I dig up everything about him..... give me 1 month.....

We hung up and I called Jason with my own phone.

I went to the bank and withdrew the money before handing the money to Jason.

After I left, I used the same number to call up Chen again, telling him the location for one of Jason's trusted henchmen to pass him the deposit.

I went to a cafe and waited.

At 2pm, Chen called me on the same number to let me know that he had received the money and will be commencing on the case.

All I had to do now was to wait.


Wednesday

I received a call from Qai and he gave me all the information that he had collected about Jamie through the phone. He did not send me any texts or email but told me verbally. I jotted down everything on a piece of paper and after we hung up, I memorized all the contents before burning the paper into ashes and flushed it down the toilet.

Just as I suspected, she did not have any social media accounts currently and her previous mobile number had since been terminated. However, he managed to find out some tagged photos from others accounts.

Currently, she appeared not to be working and seemed to be much involved with a charity organization. He told me that in all those photographs, her husband and child were not present. However, they were in a few of the tagged photos by some of their friends.

As for her child, Qai could not find any records of him being in any pre-school centers and Qai suggested that he might be home-schooling.

Qai also gave me the name and address of the nursing home that her parents were in and the monthly costs.

Now that I had more details, I looked for a generic PI firm before I called Avery from my own phone.

Avery was the 2nd girlfriend I had and got to know her when I was in Army. We met at a club and her looks were not exceptional but once she dolled-up and coupled with large B cups breasts and a tight body, she was stunning, resulting in me losing my virginity to her that night.

After that, everything was history. I brought her to China with me and made her stayed in a re-habitation centre for close to a year.

When she was finally freed from drugs, she worked for me.

One of the common practices in my industry was for clients to ask for special favors. By special favors, they were asking for sexual returns. She called up the PI agency on my behalf and made her way to their office.

I had seek her help mainly was because if the Sims found out that someone was investigating Jamie, they would not be able to link Avery to me. Avery was not even under my previous-company's payroll and everything that was paid to her were in cash, including the rental.

At 4pm, she called me and told me that they'll provide her with the information 2 weeks.

So far, I had made sure to investigate Jamie and Cory separately. So if any of the PIs were questioned, there would not be any relation to link them together.

During this waiting period, I sourced for another condo and found one near my place. I got Avery to rent it on my behalf and I gave her the full payment in cash.

2 weeks later, the PI firm called Avery and she went down to meet them.

Later that day, she called me, since I had told her not to meet me for the time being, and provided me with the information that she had received.

Just like what Qai had told me, Jamie was involved with a charity organization and for the most part of every weekday, she would be helping out with them.

In the afternoon of every Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, she would visit her parents. On Tuesdays and Thursdays afternoon, she would meet up with some friends for coffee or go shopping.

In the evenings, she would head to a gym before returning home.

On the first weekend, she went out alone with her child. On the second weekend but only on Sunday, her husband joined them for dinner together with her in-laws.

Just like before, she was chauffeured around and the chauffeur doubled as a body guard as well.

Based on this information, it was confirmed that she was not working. However, it did not seemed that Cory was spending too much time with her.

For their charity organization, the volunteers were assigned in pairs to help out with the under-privileged senior folks. Most of these senior folks lived in pairs in a government rent-subsided one-room flat and each pair of volunteers had pre-determined units to take care of so that the seniors would not have to acclimatize to new faces each time. Some of the works included bringing the senior folks for their medical appointment, cleaning their flats, getting food for them and so on.

On the other hand, only very few seniors that lived alone and my plan would require any one these elderly who lived alone.

In order for my plan to work, everything had to come together at the same time.

Finally, 3 months later, on a Tuesday, the opportunity presented itself in accordance to my plan and Avery immediately informed me about it.

Her voluntary partner was away for vacation for that day and she had to bring one of her care-recipient who lived alone for a medical appointment. Me: nope.... anyone could check with the marinas on who made a rental for today and it would give me away.....

Me: Did the chauffeur check the yacht before he allowed you to depart?....

Avery: yes..... he did as you expected....

Jamie: how did you know he'll do that?

Me: It's just a guess......

Avery: You owe me big time....

Me: Thanks..... but why such a big yacht?! how much is this thing?!

Avery: haha.... since you are paying, I got the biggest one I am allowed to steer.....

I rolled my eyes as I removed the life jacket.

Avery: ok... you 2 can speak in the cabin..... I'll keep the boat moving then.....

I had already told her previously that once I was on board, she was to keep us in motion so that we would not be so easily spotted. If there were any boats that were following us, we would also be able to spot them easily.

Avery: anyway, I've only booked this for 4 hours......

Me: ok.... have you brought and food and drinks?

Avery: they are in the cabin..... help yourself.....

Jamie and I went into the cabin as Avery went up to the helm. Shortly, motor of the boat rumbled to life and we started to move off.

After I finished my snacks, I looked out to sea through the windows in the cabin and spoke.

Me: baby..... does it remind you of the time when.....

She did not allowed me to complete my sentence as she hugged me before kissing me directly on the lips. My tongue met hers and we started kissing each other passionately.

After a few minutes, she broke our kiss and looked down at floor, embarrassed that she was the one who made the initiation.

Jamie: erm.... sorry..... I can't stop myself.....

Me: It's fine..... anyway, have a seat.... I'll start then.....

I told her everything from the day she left me at Bali. My conversation with Beth, why I went to China, how I earned my wealth and what I had been doing since I came back. Once again, I mentioned about the trust fund for her parents and told her not to worry about it.

Jamie: why? Why are you doing this?

Me: I already told you that it's because I love you.....

Her eyes started to water.

Jamie: even.... even after what happened in Bali and I left without a word?

Me: Yes..... in your letter, you already explained why you left..... as for what happened then, I know that it was because you have no choice but to let it happened...... If you were arrested then, Beth would never forgive you and the marriage, or what you deemed as a job, would never have proceeded. As such, she would have stopped the finance for your parents....... and you cannot afford that..... you rather put your happiness on the line so that they can continue receiving professional care...... I know you are filial and love them very much.....

The tears formed into a pool and started to flow down the sides of her cheeks.

Jamie: sorry...... I had to give you up.....

Me: I'm not blaming you.....

Jamie: *sob*...... I had to be heartless but only because I wanted you to give up on me..... *sob*..... I don't mind being unhappy but I wanted you to move on and forget about me..... *sob*.....to find your own life....... sorry..... I am selfish.....

I went over to hug her and she started to weep on my shoulders.

After 10mins, she stopped and looked into my eyes.

Jamie: *sniff*..... how did you find me?..... *sniff*.... why did you look for me now?.....*sniff*

I grinned.

Me: wait.... wait.... let me answer one at a time..... I look for you now because of what you told me.....

Jamie: what did I tell you?

I scowled.

Me: hmm...... You don't remember the words you told me when you first saw me again?

She looked down at her thighs.

Jamie: erm..... I remembered..... but they don't mean anything.....

Me: Are you sure?

She blushed.

Jamie: The words weren't meant to instigate you to look for me..... they just came out..... I mean.... I didn't meant to open up your wounds again..... I....

I placed a finger on her lips.

Me: yes.... I know.....

She looked into my eyes again.

Me: He's my kid right?

There was a look of panic in her eyes.

Jamie: no.... I mean yes.... but everyone thought that Jie Lun is his kid..... are you trying to snatch him away from me?!..... If.....

She was starting to get hysterical and tried to push me away from her.

Me: no.... hang on here.... I'm not trying to snatch him away..... I'll explain..... but first, I need to know if you still love me....

Jamie: are you trying to snatch him away?!

Me: Baby.... answer me first and then I'll explain everything......

I spoke to her firmly this time and she stopped.

After a while, she nodded her head.

Me: I want to hear it.....

Jamie: yes.... I still love you.... but please don't snatch our child away from me.... he's all I have left now......

Me: good.... and I've already said, I'm not trying to snatch him away.... but I will snatch the both of you away from them....

She looked at me in surprised.

Jamie: the.... the both of us?

Jamie: yes..... I had to do it with him that 1 time in order to protect our child....... but since then, I never allowed him to touch me.....

With her information and based on the collective data that I had from Qai, Chen and Avery, everything became clearer to me now.

Cory and Jamie were staying in the same house. Their direct neighbour was Kylie, who was Cory's sister, and Kylie's neighbour were William and Beth, Cory's parents.

On weekdays, the child would be staying in his grandparent's place and only on Saturday mornings, Jamie would head over to bring him home. On Sunday evenings, she would need to send him over again. That Monday when I saw the child with the couple, I found out from Qai that it was due to William's birthday and the kid was not send back to his grandparent's place the previous evening.

Cory's schedule was repetitive over the 1 month when Chen investigated him. He was not working but everyday, he would be out. Normally, he would head out at about 6pm and the general deduction was that he was sleeping in since he would return home only at 10am in the morning of the same day.

During the time he was out, he would meet his friends and head to a different club where he would meet different local girls. These girls were not working girls and from there, they would head to a different hotel each night with their latest catch.

On weekdays, Jamie would be out by 8am to head to the charity organization and by the time she was back, he had already left the house. On Saturdays, she would bring the child out alone in the morning and return home in the evenings.

Only on the one Sunday every month, the 3 of them would head out around 3pm before joining his parents for dinner before he disappeared again. Apparently based on both their lifestyles, they were not seeing each other most of the time.

Since they were married 4 years ago and she was not giving him any sex, it was little wonder that he had to seek else where to release his needs.

Jamie: So how are you going to bring us away from them? Beth and William are not easy people and I can't just tell them that I want a divorce.....

I told her about my plans and she looked at me in awe.

Jamie: wow..... you..... you're serious?

I nodded.

Jamie: you have changed so much.....

Me: yes..... setting up a business and making it successful was not easy, especially in a foreign country where it was a dog eat dog world..... so do I scare you?

Jamie: erm.... no.... it's not that.....

Me: ok... well, so what do you think?

There was a look of determination on her face.

Jamie: I'm all for it......

She pointed up.

Jamie: Anyway, you said that you hired PIs to locate me at the elderly's flat.... Is Avery also a PI?

Me: nope.... she's one of my ex that I told you about previously....

She looked shocked.

Jamie: WHAT?!!..... YOUR EX!?

Me: ssshhhh..... not so loud..... and yes.... my ex....

Jamie: you asked your ex to get close to me?! Are you mad?! And why are you sticking with her again?! Are you a couple with her?! Did you have sex with her again?!

Me: aiyo..... wait.... let me explain.....

I told her everything about Avery and I but she still did not looked too pleased.

Me: Are you jealous?

Jamie: hmmppphhhff! I'm not!

Me: there's really nothing between us.... it's purely because I saved her from drugs.....

Jamie: whatever!

She folded her arms across her chest and looked away from me angrily.

I went over and hugged her.

Me: baby.... you should know that you're the only one I love.....

She turned her face and looked into my eyes. Her anger had dissipated into thin air and was replaced by a loving look.

Jamie: baby..... I missed you so so so much....

Me: I know.....

Jamie: my heart was crying on that day when we were on Kent Ridge..... but I couldn't tell you.... the driver will tell her about it.....

Me: Since that day, for 4 years, I thought you had stopped loving me..... but I know now..... I'm sorry you had to suffer....

Jamie: It had nothing to do with you..... it's my decision and I deserved to suffer..... I should be the one to apologize for hurting you instead....

Me: Remember that time on the ship when we were stranded? I said we should stop apologizing to each other?

She giggled as she recalled the incident.

Jamie: hehe.... ok....

Me: anyway, why did you cut your hair?

Previously, she had long hair but since I saw her again, she had kept it short, in a bob-style.

Jamie: I did it on purpose..... he don't like this style..... that's why I cut it to discourage him from trying to come on me...... do you also hate this look?

Me: don't worry..... You're still as beautiful.....

She blushed again.

Me: baby.... are you feeling shy?

Jamie: no.... it's just that we were apart for so long.... I've never thought that I would ever get to hear you say it again.

I leaned forward and kissed her on her forehead. When I cupped her breasts, she pushed my hand away gently.

Jamie: baby.... if she comes down, she'll see us..... I am really uncomfortable about it....

Me: ok..... anyway, they've grown a little larger didn't they?

Jamie: erm.... yes..... after the birth of our kid.....

Suddenly, the engine of the boat was cut and the sound of the anchor splashing into the sea could be heard. Automatically, we moved apart.

Shortly, Avery opened the door to the cabin.

Avery: guys.... I know you have lots to catch up on and sorry for the interruption.....

Me: what is it?

Avery: we have 30mins to return the boat......

Me: oh..... that's fast....

Avery: sorry.... maybe I can call the boat company to extend the time?

Me: no.... we can't.... we cannot allow the chauffeur to suspect anything.....

I looked out the cabin and saw that we were roughly back at the same spot where I came on board. I turned to Jamie.

Me: baby.... wait for me patiently ok?

She nodded.

Jamie: be careful when you paddle back.....

Me: just like the old times....

She smiled.

Jamie: I'll miss you....

Me: me too........ use the phone I passed to you to call me if you want to talk to me..... remember, don't use your own phone....

She nodded.

They watched as I got my kayak back into the water and started to paddle back to shore.

Behind me, I watched as their yacht came into life and started to power back towards Changi.

Once they were back at the marina, Avery texted me to inform me that they were back and Jamie had left with her chauffeur safely.

Later in the afternoon, Jamie texted me with the phone that I gave her to inform me that she will be meeting her friends for shopping.

I called up Qai.

Qai (M): hey brother..... what's up?

Me (M): I need one more favour from you.....

Qai (M): what is it?

I told him what I wanted.

Me (M): Is it too difficult?....

Qai (M): nah.... nothing is too difficult for me.... I'll get it done......

Me (M): thanks.....

After we hung up, I called Chen with the other phone.

Me: Hi.... it's me....

Chen: yes sir..... what can I do for you this time?

Me: I need photos of the man that you had previously helped me investigated on.....

Chen: what kind of photos?

I told him what I needed.

Chen: hmm.... it's not easy....

Me: can it be done?

Chen: haha.... for me, there's nothing that cannot be done......

Me: good... what's the price?

Chen: 50k..... and it'll take a little more time for that....

Given the complexity of the job I gave him, I did not flinched at the amount. As an unwritten rule, I did not questioned how he was going to achieve it. If he said that it could be done, he would be able to deliver his promise.

Me: ok....

After that, I called up Jason and once again, he got his henchman to hand the deposit to Chen.

He wanted to know what was happening but I told him that I will let him know in due course.

For the next month, I stayed low and tried not to head out too much.

Not surprisingly, even though I had no further instructions for her, Avery continued to help out with the charity. She wanted to give back to society so that she would be able to help those in needs.

Jamie texted me occasionally using the phone I gave her but our messages were short. She told me that she missed me very much but regardless of how long, she would continue to wait for me. In the meantime, she continued with her daily activities as usual.

At the end of the month, my parents had returned from their trip and I picked them from the airport.

Me: hi dad, hi mum..... how was your trip?

Dad: haha.... tiring..... but I'm glad we did it....

Mum: yah.... it was tiring to live in a hotel.....

Dad: So, have you settled the matter with our tenants? Have they moved out?

I smiled sheepishly.

Me: nope.... I've agreed and extended their contract......

Mum did not looked too happy.

Mum: what?! then where are we going to stay? I'm not going to stay in a hotel again!

Me: erm.... I've rented a house for the both of you....

Mum: house?! but....

Me: well, mum, I'm sure you don't want to chase the poor tenant's family out do you?

dad: that's true..... they're not well to do and won't be able to find such a low price out there..... dear, let's go to our the new place then.....

Mum: what about my stuffs?

Me: I've already sent them all to your new place....

Dad: hmmm..... our new place..... Scott, does it mean that you are not staying with us?

Me: nope..... but don't worry..... I won't be flying off and leave you both here alone again..... and your place is just 4 streets away.....

After more grumbling from my mum, I sent them to the new condo that I had gotten Avery to rent for them.

Qai called me.

He had gotten all the materials I wanted. I had gotten Qai to hack into Cory's computer and emails which he had sent to an encrypted site for me to download.

Once I had all the information, I started to go through them.

A large amount was porn videos and I was not interested in them. Not surprisingly, there was no photos of Jamie or Jie Lun in the mass of information except from their marriage ceremony. Looking at the photos, I could see that although Jamie was smiling in everyone of them, her eyes were not. There were a few photos when they went on their honeymoon but in everyone of them she was no longer pretending to smile.

The rest of the information were emails and these were what I was interested in. However, there were thousands of emails and going through every single one of them was a taxing process but I kept at it.

Finally, after another month, I had all the information I needed.

Besides sleeping around, over the years, I was surprised that Cory had a few mistresses as during the few months that I investigated him, he had none.

However, each of them lasted only a few months and after breaking off, he would pay them some money. From the emails, I got all their names and contacts of these women and kept them in my safe.

Around the same time, Chen called me. He told me that he had everything I wanted. As before, I got Jason to get his henchman to do the cash exchange.

Once Jason had the photos with him, we agreed to meet up at Sepang Bedok.

Jason (H): wah bro..... what is this stack of thing? Cash?

He passed me the huge envelope that was on his lap.

Me (H): nah.... it's not that.....

Jason (H): you had disappeared for the last few months and suddenly appeared again..... are you ready to tell me what is happening?....

I told him about Jamie and everything that had happened. When I finished, he smiled and shook his head.

Jason (H): Wa..... CB (hokkien vulgarity)..... you think you acting in a drama serial is it? ..... ok.... so, tell me how you want me to help you?

I told him my plans.

Me (H): So at the end of it, I need you to send a guy to pick her up at a specific location and send her to me.....

Jason (H): Just that?

Me (H): yes....

Jason (H): I'll go with my guy then.....

Me (H): har? you don't have to..... just send a guy.....

Jason (H): nah.... I don't want him to screw up....

Me (H): there's really no need for that.....

Jason (H): hey, what are brothers for?.... so when do you need me to do that?

Me (H): Soon..... but I'll let you know the date and time....

Jason (H): great.... I'll make sure you get your woman back..... but have you settled her parents?

Me (H): yes.... I'm already making arrangements..... one more thing....... can you arrange a safe house for us?

Me (H): erm... I'm not joking..... Once we got her away, I'm sure her in-laws will investigate and I would be the prime suspect.... I don't want them to find out where I'm staying....

Me (H): Thanks bro.... let me know how much and I'll return you the money....

He rolled his eyes.

Jason (H): Stop talking about money with me..... we're brothers.....

When I arrived home, I opened up the sealed enveloped. In it were about 100 photos of 15 different girls. In everyone of the photos, Cory and the girls were naked and in different stages of having sex, in different hotels.

There was no way to ask Chen how he got these photos but I could easily guess.

Although I was not sure if the girls were normal girls or working girls, Chen had definitely engaged them and got them to be present the club that Cory was patronizing that night.

Of course, Cory would have his own taste but looking at most of the girls, they all had long hair and slim. Chen must have specifically selected them to increase the chances that Cory will take a liking to them.

From the angle that the photos were, they were definitely taken by the girls.

No wonder the cost was so high as these girls would not have come cheap.

I kept them into the safe together with the emails that Qai had provided me.

Now, I had to wait for Jamie to contact me again.

Jamie texted me to inform me that she was at a spa and I told her to call me when the masseuse was not in the room.

5mins later, my phone rang.

Jamie: Hi baby..... what is it?

Me: ok.... I'm ready to get you away but you need to tell me when is the best time.....

Jamie: oh.... that's great.....

I told her my plans briefly.

Jamie: hehe.... your timing couldn't be better..... Beth, Cory, me and our boy will be having lunch on this Friday at a Hokkien restaurant.....

She told me the exact location of the restaurant which was on the 5th story of a carpark of a bank in town. I asked her about the time and she provided me.

Jamie: oppss.... the masseuse is coming back.... I've got to go.....

Me: remember to pass all those documents that I told you about, to Avery tomorrow....

Jamie: ok.... love you.....

She hung up after that.

I called Jason and he acknowledged the time and location. He said that he will be there to pick her up.

Thereafter, I called up another of my contact who was working in GSM building that was located near Bugis and he helped me to make some other arrangements.


Wednesday

Avery met me in the night and handed me all the documents that Jamie had passed to her.


Thursday

I went home to visit my parents and was glad that they were settling into the apartment.

Me: Mum... dad.... I have something to speak to you....

Mum: what is it?

She looked at me curiously.

Me: erm.... please have a seat and I'll tell you.....

They were astounded when I told them about Jamie and our child. They did not asked me any questions but paid attention to everything I told them. Once I finished the story, mum immediately pulled my ears and her anger surfaced.

Mum: Very funny Scott!

Me: mum.... what?

Mum: Why didn't you let us know?!.... It's such an important matter and you kept it to yourself for the last 4 years!....

Me: Mum! I didn't know that I have a kid until the last few months!

She was still twisting my ear and it was getting painful.

Me: Ouchh! It's not my fault!.....

Mum: Suddenly I have a grandchild! and the woman is another man wife! and you say that it's not your fault?!......

Me: Mum! she don't love him......

Mum: Shut up Scott..... you got a woman pregnant before you marry her and left her all alone!.... no wonder she had to marry the other guy!

Me: I didn't say that! OUCHHHHH!!!

Mum: That's what happened!

Suddenly dad laughed loudly and the both of us stared at him.

dad: haha..... Dear..... go easy on him..... or you'll twist his ear off.....

Finally, she released me angrily and folded her arms.

dad: ok Scott.... since now you know all about it, what are you going to do about the kid? You can't just go to their family and ask them to return you the child.... after all, they had nurtured him for the past 3 years.....

I told them my plans briefly and my mum got even angrier. She refused to speak to me after that but dad agreed with what I was about to do. Before my mum could lay her hands on me again, dad ushered me out of their place.

Later that afternoon, I went out with Avery and to buy another phone for Jamie, signing up the new number under her name.

As evening approached, I started to get nervous and went through my plans again, making sure that there was no loop holes. If there was no hiccups, Jason should be able to bring her to me.



Friday

I drove down to Boon Tat street around noon and found a parking lot. From there, I went to a coffee shop and waited.

My plan was straightforward.

Cory, Beth, Jamie and our child would be having lunch at the restaurant. When they were in the middle of the lunch, she would excused herself to bring the child to the toilet. From there, she would head out with our child to the parking lot where Jason was waiting for her.

At 1pm, Jason called me. I had previously shown him her photo and he had seen them going into the restaurant.

I crossed my fingers and hoped that she would be able to do everything in accordance to our plan.

It was a long wait and my palms were starting to sweat. I thought about all the possible scenarios that could happen.

What if Beth or Cory also went to the toilet with her? What if she was unable to get away? what if the child refused to go to the washroom with her?

There were so much negative thoughts in my head at that point in time.

By 3pm, Jason had still not called me and I was getting worried that my plan had failed.

I got up and went to my car, thinking if I should call him when my phone suddenly rang.

Jason: Bro!

He was panting.

Jason: I've got her and your kid......

Suddenly I was relieved.

Jason: where are you?

I told him the exact location.

Jason: no..... too many people..... I'll meet you at Wallich Street, the open air carpark there..... go now.....

There was tension in his voice and immediately, I started my engine.

I arrived in about 10mins and his car was still not there. I was about to call him when he turned into the carpark.

They parked beside me but only Jamie and my kid came out and got into my backseat. He indicated me to wind down my window.

Jason: I've to snatch her from them..... she'll tell you about it..... now go.....

Me: Ok.... thanks bro....

I started to drive off, heading towards GSM building as fast as I could but within the speed limit.

This was the 2nd time when I saw Jie Lun and I turned my head to smile at him.

Me: Hi.... handsome boy.....

He looked at me and smiled.

Jie Lun: Uncle.....

Me: Oh..... that's sweet.....

I was happy that he seemed to remember me even though we had only met once. However, I turned to her.

Me: baby.... so, what happened?

Jamie: I couldn't get away...... She was carrying him all the while..... so after the luncheon ended and we were walking out from the restaurant into the carpark, Jason's man ran over and snatch our boy from her...... then we all ran back to the car....

Me: I'm sure they'll report the incident to the police, thinking that Jason kidnap the kid.... we'll have to get to the lawyer fast.....

Before long, we arrived at GSM building.

We were here to meet up with a lawyer who specialized in divorce cases. She was recommended by my own company lawyer, Michael, who helped me in the sale of my company. He was the one that I had asked to help me to book the appointment with her.

The receptionist showed us to a room. After knocking on the door, we went in.

I had never met Tiffany before. With her shoulder length grey hair and a pair of dark rimmed specs, she had a motherly appearance.

She had been expecting us and gestured us to the chairs in front of her.

Tiffany: You must be Scott....

She looked at Jamie and Jie Lun and frowned before turning back to me.

Tiffany: so.... you are looking to divorce this woman?

Me: Not me Tiffany..... we're not married..... Jamie's looking for a divorce and I'm just bringing her here.....

Tiffany: hmm.... I see.....

She turned to Jamie.

Tiffany: Jamie.... I'm not going to dissuade you..... but on what grounds are you looking for a divorce?

I handed her some of the photos of Cory that Chen had gotten for me and also some of the emails from his previous mistresses. She went through them briefly before raising one of her eyebrow and shook her head.

Tiffany: hmmm.... Scott, why are you showing me these emails? You know that I shouldn't be seeing them, right? In fact, you shouldn't be even having them.....

Me: yes.... but those are the reasons......

Tiffany: please take these back and don't show these to anyone else ever again..... They're illegal..... anyway, this time, I'll pretend I didn't see them......

I took back the documents but kept the photos with her.

She turned back to Jamie.

Tiffany: these photos are good enough reasons for you to ask for a divorce if he decides to contest it.....

Jamie nodded.

Tiffany: so what are your expectations from him?

Jamie: nothing.....

Tiffany: Nothing?

Jamie: yes..... my spouse is currently not working and he does not have any assets.....

Tiffany: do you mean that he live off you?

Jamie: no.... his mum gave him an allowance every month.... I don't know how much but I think it's in the range of about 15 - 20k..... we stay in a house that is owned by his parents......

Tiffany: I see.... then does he gives you anything from the allowance?

Jamie: nope..... my allowance of 4k is provided by his mum as well......

Tiffany raised her eyebrows as she did not seemed to believe that someone at their age were not working and were sponging off their parents.

Jamie: his parents does not allow us to work.... and they are filthy rich....

Tiffany: ah.... I see....

She turned to look at our child who had been quietly sitting on Jamie's lap all along.

Tiffany: I believed that you'll want custody of your kid but if you have no income, then it's going to be difficult.....

Jamie: He's not the child of the guy who you saw in the photo.... it's his....

She pointed to me and Tiffany blinked her eyes.

Tiffany: wait.... do you mean to say that the both of you had an affair and this kid is out of your wedlock?

Jamie: nope...

She explained the entire scenario to Tiffany. After she had finished Tiffany smiled.

Jamie looked at me and I placed a hand on her shoulder to assure her.

Me: let them sue then......

She gave us the advice and we nodded our head.

Tiffany: ok..... I'll help you to process.... did you bring the documents?

Those are the documents which Jamie had passed to Avery on Wednesday and were now with me. I handed the lot to Tiffany.

Tiffany: good..... we'll commence on the paper work now.....

Every thing was processed rather swiftly and Tiffany mentioned that Cory would be receiving the documents tomorrow.

I did not wanted to do it but Jamie insisted that she wanted me to get my DNA tested with our boy. Although she knew I trusted her, she wanted scientific proof to show beyond any doubt that the boy was mine. As such, I finally complied and we went to the clinic to get test our DNA test done. I told the clinic that we wanted the results as soon as possible and they mentioned that they will expedite it for us.

By the time everything was done, it was almost 5pm. As the traffic had already started to get heavy, I drove slowly towards my parents place.

The guard knew who I was and allowed our entry without asking any questions.

When I opened the door to my parents apartment, they were not surprised since I had already told them about a few days ago.

Jamie: Hi Uncle.... Hi aunty....

Mum: Oh.... you must be Jamie!

Jamie: erm.... yes..... aunty.....

Mum ushered us in while Dad went to the kitchen to get a drink for Jamie. He hurried back with the drink and placed it in front of Jamie before sitting beside mum.

Jamie: sorry.... It's the first time that I am visiting but I didn't bring anything for you.....

Dad: Don't worry about it.... we're glad to finally meet you..... and this must be Jie Lun.....

Jamie: yes....

Just like when we were at the lawyer's, our boy was sitting quietly on her lap and she turned him.

Jamie: Call.... ah gong and ah ma.....

He repeated what she told him to say. Mum cooed excitedly.

Mum: oooohhh... I'm a grandma now.....

My parents started to fuss over my child.

Jamie had already told me everything about Jie Lun previously through our messages.

Although Beth had not allowed him to play with toys and since he was young, he was trained not to cry and was to remain seated quietly when adults were talking. It was little wonder that he was so quiet when we were at the lawyer. However, I was a little surprised that he was so comfortable with my parents.

We left our kid outside and went into the room that my parents had prepared for them. I had already told them that our child would be staying with them for 2 weeks and they had bought everything, from diapers to milk powder to clothes.

Jamie: wow.... baby.... did you buy all these?

She pointed to the stack of toys in the corner of the room.

Me: nope... my parents did..... anyway, it's time to call Cory....

She nodded and switched on her phone. There were 50 missed calls and messages.

She ignored them and made the call to Cory. He picked up after 3 rings.

Cory: Where the fuck are you?! What happened? Is this a kidnap?!! What the fuck did those guys want?!

She was using a ear piece and sharing the other side with me.

Jamie: Shut up Cory..... I'm getting a divorce.....

Beth: I don't care if you want a divorce but where is my grandchild?!

Cory must have put his phone on speaker mode.

Jamie: Mum.... He's not your grandchild.....

Beth was not Jamie's mum. However, she had made Jamie called her that ever since she sponsored for Jamie's education and paid the funding for Jamie's parents maintenance.

Beth: What the fuck are you talking about?! Return him now! We've already reported to the police about the kidnapping! Your accomplices will be caught! you

Beth lost her cool and I was surprised that she would lose her temper like this. Her outburst seemed to annoy Jamie a little but she did not show her anger.

Jamie: A mother cannot kidnap her son..... and I've already said..... He is not Cory's son.....

Beth: What the hell are you talking about?!

Jamie: I had him with another guy.....

Beth: Since when?!

Jamie: When I was in Bali....

Beth: Scott! It must be him!

Jamie: no.... I didn't have any sexual relationship with Scott..... It was a random guy whom I don't even know before I met Scott.... so stop making wild guesses....

I had told her to say these.

Beth: Slut! Bitch! Bring my grandchild back or I'll stop financing for your parents' caregiving!

Jamie: Listen Beth..... I don't need you to take care of them any more..... I'll do it on my own from now onwards......

She hung up the phone on Beth and looked at me. I nodded my head.

Me: Check the numbers..... I think there should be a missed call from the police.....

She went through her phone and made the call back to the only unfamiliar number. It was the IO.

IO: Hi, this is IO Adrian.... is this Jamie?

Jamie: yes, I am...

IO: Are you ok? Your family said that you were kidnapped.... we are already searching for the kidnappers car.....

Jamie: no sir..... they were my friends.... and they just helped me to get away from my abusive husband....

IO: I'll need you to come down to my station for your statement.....

Jamie: Sir..... I'm sorry but my child is sleeping now.... can you send someone over instead?....

IO: In accordance to our procedure, you'll need to come to the station......

She pretended to cry.

Jamie: *sob* ... Please sir..... I'm scared to step out of my house... *sob*....I'm afraid that my husband will wait for me at the station..... please....

IO: hmm....

There was a short pause.

IO: It's not our normal procedure..... but ok.... I'll come over in about an hour..... give me the address....

Jamie gave him the information and hung up.

We went back out and dad told us that mum had brought our son into their room to have a short nap. I told him about the IO and he nodded his head. Thereafter, he went back to his room to inform my mum, leaving us alone in the living room.

30mins later, the doorbell rang and I opened the door for the IO. He was with another female officer and they presented me with their badges.

Me: Sir.... Jamie's waiting for you....

IO: You are?

Me: Oh.... I'm Jamie's friend. Jie Lun....

Like all others, he raised one of his eye brows when he heard my name. However, he did not say anything about it.

I let them in. She was waiting on the sofa for them.

IO: Are you Jamie?

Jamie: yes sir....

He made the introductions.

IO: ok.... but where's your child?

Jamie: he's in the room sleeping.....

IO: Can I see him?

Jamie: sure.....

She looked at me.

Jamie: Do you mind to bring him to your parents room?

I got up and knocked on my parents door. Dad opened it and the IO looked surprised.

Me: It's my dad..... come... the boy is inside....

He saw my mum and I made the introductions.

Mum: ssshhhh.... not so loud.... he is sleeping....

The IO walked in and had a long look at my boy before heading back out to the living room.

He sat on the armchair and started to ask Jamie questions while his assistant took out notes on her tablet. She continued to type into the device and when she was finished, she showed Jamie what she had typed.

Assistant: Please confirm that these are accurate.....

Jamie nodded her head.

Assistant: Ok.... please sign here....

With all the procedures completed, she showed them to the door.

IO: Make sure if you run away like that next time, please let your husband know as soon as possible.... kidnapping is a major crime and it shouldn't be reported if it is not so.....

Jamie: Sorry sir....

He nodded and was about to walk off when she stopped him.

Jamie: sir.... can you not let my husband know where I am currently?

IO: Of course not..... police investigation are confidential..... and anyway, I can see that you are safe now....

He took a quick glance at me.

IO: So don't worry......

She closed the door once he left.

I ordered some food for our dinner.

The food arrived and everyone had some.

It must have been a rather weird experience for my parents to suddenly have a grandchild who was already 3 years old. Furthermore, Jamie was a total stranger to them until today but they had accepted both of them completely.

Since my parents were not the inquisitive types, they did not posed her too many questions for her.

However, they hogged our child, taking charge of him and playing with him continuously. Although Jamie loved our child dearly, most of the time over the past 3 years, our son was not with her, so she was fine with that.

As the both of us sat on the sofa watching them, she held my hand. I turned to her and there were tears in her eyes.

Mum apparently saw what was happening and ushered dad and Jie Lun into the room that they had prepared for him, leaving us alone in the living room.

Jamie: thank you baby......

Me: for what?

Jamie: for coming back for me..... for saving me again.....

Me: It's not over yet until he signs on the papers....

Jamie: I know..... but I'm glad to get out of that house.....

Me: don't worry about anything now..... I told you that I'll take care of you remember?

She smiled and nodded her head.

We were interrupted by a call on my personal number.

It was Jason. I quickly informed him that everything had been settled and the police were no longer looking for his car since they already knew what had happened.

After we hung up, we knew it was time to go.

I reminded my parents again.

Me: Remember, do not head out and order deliveries.... stay indoors without going out..... and everything should be fine....

Mum: Of course! I wouldn't want to put my grandchild or ourselves into any danger......

Jamie: sorry dad.... sorry mum.... I hoped that it will not be too troublesome for the both of you....

Mum beamed happily and nudged dad.

Mum: hey old man.... she called me mum....

Dad smiled as well.

Dad: Don't worry.... he's our grandchild..... there's nothing too troublesome..... we're more than happy to spend more time with him..... both of you just go and settle everything first before you come back to pick him up......

Me: Thanks dad...... and thanks mum.....

After taking another look at our sleeping child, we made our way back to my place to collect my clothes and those clothes that I had bought for her before heading over to Jason's.

I was at first thinking this story can tied to the "secret agent" Uncle that started off from The Mission and how he can help the protagonist, as I was thinking of a plot twist where everything in the plan goes awry coz the rich family are ruthless people. That's when somehow the protagonist get meets Uncle, and his team of helpers who were protagonists in the other stories, esp the girls like Steph and Trish.

When we arrived in the carpark at one of the older condos just outside the Geylang district, one of Jason's henchmen was already waiting for us. I recognized him as the guy who was driving the car to fetch Jamie earlier and he brought us up to the unit.

Once the door to the apartment was opened, I was surprised to find that there were 2 other guys who were topless and wearing only shorts in it. Each of their bodies were heavily tattooed and all of them looked to be around my age.

We went in and the entire interior smelled like cigarette. The both of them were staring at us and even though she was wearing a baggy T-shirt and denim shorts, she looked uncomfortable. I nodded my head at them and they did the same.

Jason came out from the kitchen and called out loudly to me.

Jason had already met Jamie earlier in the day and spoke in Mandarin since he knew that she was unable to understand Hokkien.

Jason (M): Hey bro..... Hi Sis..... good to see you again.....

Although he was unable to speak proper English, he was still able to understand it. I spoke to him in English so that she could understand.

Me: Hi bro....

Jamie: Hi Jason...

Jason (M): I hope you don't mind.... I already told them to smoke in the balcony but the smoke still get in....

Jason (M): Anyway, I call them the 4 winds....

Jason (M): 4 winds as in mahjong..... This Dong Zai....

He pointed to the driver who raised his hand enthusiastically. Although I had not really spoken to Dong Zai and apart from his tattoos, his appearance looked like the guy that a girl would want to bring home to.

Jason said that Dong was in charge of all the transportation for him. It included driving and ferry and that was why he was the driver earlier today.

Jason (M): this is Ah Nan....

The most muscular guy grinned stupidly at me.

He was built like a tank and looked as if he spent all his free time in the gym. Jason said that he was in charge of betting and it was little wonder why he had this task. His eyes had been roaming all over her body since we entered even though she was still wearing the same baggy T-shirt and culottes she wore earlier today.

She seemed a little uneasy and stood closer to me.

Jason (M): That's Ah Xi.......

The fattest guy smiled and nodded his head.

He was as short as Jamie and his eyes were sitting too wide apart on his face and coupled with a large mouth, he was on the borderline of being ugly. He was also checking out her body and Jason said that Xi was helping him to take care of the massage parlours and KTV joints.

Jason (M): and there's also Park, who help to take care of the girls for me.....

Jason did not operate from those houses that had lanterns on their porches and I knew he was referring to the other guy who was not present currently. So Park was the one who helped him to take care of this area of business.

Jason (M): Come.... let's speak inside the room.....

We followed him into his room and he closed the door.

Me: thanks for all your help....

Jason (M): haha.... it's nothing much....

I had never come to his house before as most of the time, we would meet outside.

Me: I see..... So, when are you bringing us to the safe house?

Me: but didn't you just say that they are already occupied?....

Jason (M): erm... the arrangement is like this.....

He explained that his girls will still remain in their unit. The unit opposite his, he had told his guys to vacate one of the rooms for us. The one who had vacated his room would stay with him instead.

Me: why not we stay at your place then?....

Jason (M): bro, most of the time I'm not around..... and like you said, Jamie's in-laws are not people who will let this go easily and might hire thugs..... So, I had made arrangement for 1 of them to be at your side to protect you at all times...... They will be rotating their shifts and share the place with you.....

Me: bro..... we'll be fine even if we're alone in your place.... they won't be able get in to the condo without access cards right?....

He shook his head.

Jason (M): They could bribe the security guards and since you came to me for help..... so it's my responsibility to make sure you are safe..... and with one of my guys living with you, they can help you at all times.... furthermore, if she needed to go to the lawyer and when you bring her there, my guys can accompany you as well....

He had already gone through divorce once in the past and knew that if Cory was to contest the divorce, she would still need to meet him at the lawyer.

He placed a hand on my shoulder.

Jason (M): I've talked to my guys and they've agreed to look after you.... they are my right hand men..... and I've gone through countless shit with them.... they're able to protect you....

I turned to Jamie to seek her opinion and he laughed, misunderstanding my intentions.

Jason (M): Aiyo.... If the both of you want personal time, you can still do it in the room with the door closed...... haha.....

I rolled my eyes but Jamie ignored his teasing.

Jamie: baby.... I'm ok with Jason's arrangement.... anyway it's only temporary....

Jason (M): Of course.... once you settled everything, you'll need to shift out again la..... or the guys will start grumbling.... haha.....

I quickly thought about it. I trusted Jason and since she had agreed to it, I had no further objections.

Jason then brought us to the other unit directly opposite his place.

Just like his place, this was a simple apartment with 2 rooms and the entire apartment had already been cleaned.

One of the room was closed and he said that his guys will be taking turns to stay in there.

He brought us to the master-bed room which had an adjoining bathroom.

Our bedroom was neat and tidy and even clean bedsheets had been spread in our bedroom. There were also some toiletries and makeup stuffs in our bedroom for her. All the disposal items looked brand new except for the furniture.

Jason (M): In this case, I'll make my move.... I'm just a few steps away and please don't go out anymore unless you need to go to the lawyer..... and when you do so, ask the "wind" to accompany you......

He handed an access card to us.

Jason (M): Just in case you need to go out.....

Me: we won't.... I don't anyone to see us outside and informed her in-laws about where we are.....

Jason (M): Oh, in this case, also remember not to order anything online..... if you need to, ask the "wind" to order on your behalf.... Nah.... before you ask me for it.....

He passed me 2 burned SIM cards.

Jason (M): oh.... and one more thing.... as you noticed earlier, there's no air-conditioning in any of the units here.... sorry about that but it's because we all smoke....

10minutes Dong came into our unit with our luggage. He informed me that he had already covered my car with a cloth and also he will be taking the first shift for today.

We thanked him and retired into our room.

I opened the windows in the room while she unlocked the luggage. She took out the clothes that I bought for her before rolling her eyes.

Jamie: Hais... I remembered what you bought me the last time in Bali..... I guess that I shouldn't have too high of an expectations.....

She pointed to the 2 flimsy nighties and 3 sheer camisoles on the bed.

Me: but, I've also got these......

I gestured to the 2 pieces of singlets and the 2 pieces of front buttoned tops that were sitting next to them.

Jamie: yah.... but they're flimsy....

Me: I thought he was getting a place for only the 2 of us......

Jamie: ok, given that you thought we will be staying alone and I can still re-use what I'm wearing now when we go to the lawyer..... but why are there only 3 pieces of bras?!

I tried to defend myself.

Me: erm.... you told me that you don't wear bra when you were in at his house.....so I thought most of the time you wouldn't need to wear them.....

Jamie: yes but only when I'm all alone in my own room..... I'll wear a bra when I exit my room.... still, there's no reason for you to get all these sheer ones, right?!

She rolled her eyes before pointing to the 2 pairs of cotton shorts.

I looked at the shorts and realized that they were tiny.

Me: They're the sizes that you told me to get.....

I picked up one of them and showed her the S size on the shorts.

Jamie: Hais....... these look like they're SS sizes....

She compared the waistband of the shorts to hers on waist . Fortunately it appeared that she would be able to fit into them. She did not complained about the other 2 silky shorts, the micro mini skirt or the sheer G-strings that I had bought.

She placed all the items into the cupboard.

Jamie: I'll have my shower first.....

With that, she went into the bathroom. I knew she was annoyed with what I had bought for her.

She had not washed her hair and had only a towel wrapped around her body when she came out. I went in to take my shower.

By the time I came out, she was already under the covers and fast asleep.

Since I also had a long day, I tucked myself in and slept beside her for the first time in 4 years.

We were awakened when someone knocked on our room's door at 9am. We both got up at the same time.

Me: Who is it?

Dong (M): Sir..... it's me... Dong.... someone brought our breakfast.... it's ready.....

While I was speaking to him, she had already got something from the cupboard and went into the toilet to wash up.

She was already under the covers when I came out from the toilet last night and although I knew that she had changed into the singlet and shorts, since she was already asleep, I had not taken another look.

When she came out from the toilet now, I saw how she looked in the clothes and my morning wood got harder.

She was wearing one of the silky shorts. It was not tight and sat loosely around her bottom. However, it was rather short and showed off a fair amount of her legs. The holes where her thighs exited from, were large and loose fitting.

However, the shorts was not the garment that caught my attention. It was the pink singlet that she was wearing.

She was wearing a bra under her pink singlet and although the bra was sheer and pad-less, it offered at least some protection as the darker shade of her areolas could not be seen through the singlet but that was all it did. Her nipples were not erected currently but 2 faint nubs was still showing up on the front of her singlet, indicating their exact location on her breasts.

Jamie: stop staring and go and wash up.....

She frowned and I quickly did as I was told since I had no intention of making her angry the first thing in the morning.

I came out shortly and she was sitting on the edge of the bed waiting for me.

Me: erm... I'll go and collect the food for you so that you don't have to go out.....

Jamie: The divorce might take 2 weeks or even longer... you can't expect me to stay in this room all the time right?

Me: Actually, I am thinking of asking Dong to buy some clothes for you....

Jamie: there's no need to.... he can't leave here until the next guy takes over.... so if you ask him now, he'll just tell another guy to buy it for me.... then everyone will know my sizes and I'm not comfortable with it.....

Me: Then maybe some T-shirts and shorts?

Jamie: Maybe just the Tees... I tried the shorts when you were bathing last night and they're fine....

Dong zai was eating by the dining table and I sat directly opposite him.

Dong (M): Good morning sir....

Dong (M): erm... ok....

She came out from the room and he noticed her for the first time.

Since her bra had no underwire, it offered no support and her breasts jiggled conspicuously as she walked over to the dining table. I saw him took a quick glance at her singlet but quickly re-focused his gaze on his food.

She took a seat beside me and started eating.

4 years ago, I had tried to get her to expose herself but she had refused me. On top of that, normally she would wear conservatively and the chances for her to eat in front of another guy with her pokies showing on her singlet would be almost nil. I was surprised that this time, she seemed not to be affected by it.

We had a quick breakfast before heading back to our room.

I handed her one of the burned SIM cards and she called up the nursing home where her parents were staying. The home confirmed that Beth had already told them that she would not be paying for the expenses anymore but Jamie told them that she would be settling their bills instead.

Thereafter, she called up the charity organization and informed them that she would not be available until further notice.

At 11am, Tiffany called me to inform me that the letter had been received by Cory. However, as expected, he would be contesting the divorce. The couple was supposed to meet up on Monday.

She had just completed transferring the data from her old phone to the new one I bought for her and I told her the details of the call I just had with Tiffany.

She nodded and after doing a factory reset on her old phone, she shut it off and dropped it into our luggage bag.

Thereafter, I informed Jason about the meeting on Monday and he said that he would make the necessary arrangements.

Tuesday

Since Nan was in the house and she did not want to get into the same situation with Xi again, she re-wore the same clothes yesterday.

She did not want to speak to him too much and only came out for her meals. He looked disappointed and I suspected that Xi might have told him something about what had happened on Saturday. However, he did not asked me anything about it.

Dong took over the next shift from him.


Wednesday

The clothes that Park had gotten for Jamie were dried and so she wore those clothes. Throughout the day, she wore those pad-less bras that I bought for her and Dong still did not stare at her. It was another uneventful day for us.

That morning, Jason joined us for breakfast.

He told us that based on his surveillance over the past week, there were no suspicious characters in the vicinity.

Jamie typed a message on her phone and showed it to me.

Me: I need 1 hour..... where to exchange?

Man: Good.... I'll call you again in 45mins.... then I'll tell you the location..... remember, if you call the police, I'll kill your dad.....

He hung up.

I was panicking and my first thought was that Avery had betrayed me since my parent's place was rented by her.

Thus, that was how my dad was being kidnapped.

When mum asked Jamie about where dad was, she told her that she would get someone to deliver the items to her instead as he was meeting his friends for coffee since he had been cooped up in the house for some time.

Mum started to grumble a little before they hung up and Jamie turned to me.

Jamie: baby..... see.... that's what happened..... so cool it and stop blaming yourself....... the most important thing now is to think of how to get your dad out.....

He made some calls and 5mins later, the girls came out again.

He frowned and turned to Jamie.

Jamie: Tell me your plan first and I'll decide after that.....

He repeated the same thing he told me and she shook her head.

Jamie: that was my plan..... and let me ask you, how can Scott inform you if his dad is on the premise when he's there? Do you expect him to just pick up the phone and call you?......

Jamie: you haven't thought about it right?

The other 3 "winds" arrived at my place and after Park had told Xi of who to call from her henchmen, she went off.

Thereafter, the "winds" started making their calls, gathering as many people as they could.

30mins later, one of Jason henchmen arrived. He had collected an item from Chen and Jamie told me that she took 3k from my stash to pay him.

It was a hair-clip but its main function was really a transmitter. Basically, once the hair-clip was opened, the separate transponder device would lit up.

Her plan was simple, once she saw my dad, she would open the hair-clip and Jason could rush in with his men.

At exactly, 11am, my phone rang. After ensuring the group had changed their phone to silent mode, I switched to speaker mode and answered it.

Me: where is the transaction location?

The guy gave me an address in Benoi.

Me: I'm in the East.... I can't make it in 15mins.....

Man: where's the kid?

We had already prepared for this.

There was a road in front of the factory and it was flanked by other factories. However, the location did not appear to have any back gate leading to the heavy vehicle park behind.

The premise was surrounded by a concrete fence and there was no barb wires on it.

He nodded and turned to the 3 "winds" who had started making calls again as we talked.

Jason (M): Xi, Nan, take these 2 with you first........ the remaining of them, ask them to meet you at the heavy vehicle park directly.....

He turned to Dong.

Jason (M): Dong, how many you have?

Dong (M): only me now..... 6 are on the way....

He pointed to a location about 400m away from the main gate of the factory, around a bend.

He turned back to me.

Since it was a Sunday traffic there was not many cars in the area. Only a few heavy vehicles passed by us.

I turned into the lane where the factory was and Dong stopped their car at the junction before the bend.

I intentionally drove passed the one-story building before stopping a few meters after the main gate so that we could provide a brief scout report of the area to Jason.

We had noticed that there were 6 guys who were smoking by the main gate but none could be seen on the flanks of the building. However, we did not know how many could be hiding at the back.

She was already on the phone with Jason and told him what we saw.

Next, she tested the hair-clip.

Jason (M): ok.... the signal is working..... take care sis.....

After he hung up, she clipped the hair-clip to her hair.

We left our phones in the car and got off.

As we walked towards the main gate, the 6 guys stood up and watched us. They were South Asian and looked like they were either working in the marine repair or construction industry. She did not recognized any of them.

When we were at the gate, one of them stopped us.

Guy1 : who you?

Me: I'm Scott.....

He looked around and frowned. Then he stepped away to make a call.

Once he hung up, he spoke to his guys and they let us in.

Just as we expected, 1 of them searched my pockets to make sure that it was empty while another 3 searched Jamie.

Rows of huge floor racks decorated the large interior but they were empty now. Apparently this was some kind of a storage warehouse previously.

A few rooms sat on the right side of the interior and I assumed that they had served as the offices when this place was in used.

2 of the 4 guys held my arms on either side while one of them held onto Jamie. The last one went to a door and knocked.

A bald skinny guy who looked to be in his fifties emerged from within.

Jamie whispered.

Jamie (w): it's him alright.....

We were brought forward until we were 3 meters in front of him.

Youfa: Scott.... you said that you've the kid with you..... but where is he?

Me: I want to know that my dad is safe first.....

He ignored me and seemed to notice her for the first time.

From what I had seen, there was just the 6 guys at the gate, the 3 who led us to the building and the other 4 who were with us now. In all there was about 13 of them. If all of Jason's 50 men rushed in together, they could easily overpower these guards.

I made a rough calculation. It had been almost 15mins since we entered the premise. Jason's men would have arrived and they must be preparing to enter. I would just need to delay Beth for another 5 mins.
