I am asking this question on behalf of my single 48-years-old uncle.
He was very close to me during my teenage years and he even helped to pay part of my university course fees in 2015 to 2018. I am now 26-years-old.
My 48-years-old single uncle he currently has a 3-rm HDB flat and his flat is fully-paid up using all cash with no housing loan. He currently has SGD $213,000 in his bank account.(with a large part deposited in singapore savings bond). But currently he is not working, Due to the covid-19 recession. He currently rent out his master room in his 3-rm flat for passive income.
Do you think he should just remain single for the rest of his life and every month he just go find some FLs to have paid sex? Or Do you think he should get a foreign female companion to get married?(of course since he is already 48, hence even if he gets married later on, he should not have a kid)
While I commend your concern for your uncle, many things have to be addressed before this question.
Have a talk with him about your thoughts and ask him to tell you his life story and his views on life before taking it any further. From what you said, the foreign wife is only a replacement for his periodic physical needs. That is no basis to get married. For an occasional glass of milk, you don't need to own your own cow. Also, you mentioned that he is currently cash flow tight, consider that.

And what's stopping a foreign bride from leaving him in his old age?

The odds are high that there will be a big age gap between him and the foreign spouse. She may use him to get PR or Citizenship, then divorced him to get half the flat and half his assets plus an on-going monthly alimony fee. She may even bear him a child to make it easier to get her PR or citizenship.
Better tell him to find a Singaporean/Malaysian divorcee/widow with a child. Be together for companionship. No generation gap too so conversations will easier too. Not easy for such ladies to find love when they have to look after a child on their own. They will appreciate the stability your uncle brings into their lives.

Advise him not to get married unless the half asset rule is abolished.

you are dead wrong!
Singaporean/malaysian women are even more money-minded.
I am speaking from personal experiences. I am divorced with a 15-years-old son and I am 46-years-old, and I have a Polytechnic diploma and I own a 5-room HDB flat and I had been matched-make with so many dates with early 40s singaporean/malaysian women in the past 5 years and all of them are so money-minded.
They themselves are already in their 40s and their own educational qualification are only max O-levels and they are extremely average-looking and yet they kept asking me do I have at least $500,000 in my bank account or do I have master degree or at least bachelor degree lah, and still looking for men that owns a condo etc.
Although those Vietnam/PRCs/Thai also have some bad hats, but generally PRCs/Vietnam/Thai women are not as money-minded as singaporean/malaysian women.
I am now happily married to a Vietnamese woman since 2019.
And talking about malaysian women, malaysian women are very hypocritical and even more cunning. It is becos about 30% to 35% of singaporean-chinese have parents that are ex-malaysians hence these selfish singaporeans due to their own vested biased selfish interests of having malaysian parents hence they always say that malaysian women are good but this is not true and they are dead wrong.
Becos 1) those malaysians that come to singapore during 1950s to 1970s their character are totally different from those malaysians that come to singapore in 1990s till now.
and 2)those singaporean-chinese that have malaysian parents, you touch your hearts and ask yourselves are your malaysian parents really good people or nasty wicked people?? How did your malaysian parents treat strangers and other people?? Becos for chinese race people, to measure whether a person is good or nasty, you cannot see how she treat her own children as a yardstick to measure her character becos 99% of all chinese race people even if they are very wicked people, they also will treat their children well.
The malaysians that come to singapore nowadays is only for 1 reason only, the money and the 3 to 1 exchange rate.

If I don't write he has $213,000 and his flat is fully paid up, then other netizens sure will say information is too scant and they sure will ask so he has $2 million or only has $20,000?? And they sure will say cannot give any comments since they don't know the exact amount of money he has.
And I never disclose his address or his name, thus there is totally no adverse effects of revealing that he has $213,000 in his bank account

Some additional information, although he is not working now due to the covid-19 recession, he said every month he gets about $350 interest from his $213,000 money deposited into singapore savings bonds and FDs etc, and also gets another $950 monthly rental from his master room rental in his flat.
Hence although he is totally not working now, but he gets a total of $1300 passive income every month and he did not touch his principal amount of $213,000.
He said every month he spends about $800 on food/bills/other expenses.
Hence he said that leaves him another $500 every month for either commercial paid sex with FLs or leisure soccer betting

Your uncle are very thrifty to spend only $800 per month!!! Dont know how he manage to do that:rolleyes:
At his age, I will suggest he dont get marry unless he want children. He have the option to rent out the whole unit($1600) and stay in cheaper country like Thailand/Philippines/Indonesia. BTW, he better dont buy any property oversea, so he can move to next location when he gets bored.
With $2k(Rental income+Interest) per month, he should be able to live comfortably and get a oversea girlfriend there

Funny a 48 y.o man will take advice from a 26 y.o man when he has already sorted out his finances quite well. TS, dont poke your nose into your uncle matters unless you are eyeing his $200k.

True, that's what I think so. But reading the story again, TS says his uncle is not working at this moment due to the crisis and his total life savings...This probably may explains his uncle might not be well verse in financial matters. This is my assumption, I maybe wrong.
But if it were me, I think no point finding a partner because it's almost 2/3 of the way into the last stage of the life journey. I don't know how long he has been single but when you are still single at 48, I would think he should be fairly comfortable being by himself. If he feels the urge, he can find FL/WL to soothe the urge. Unless he meets the one, which is a big if, I would think staying single until I die. I am saying this because I know what it is like to be single. You are so used to being by yourself that sometimes you don't mind being by yourself all weekends, without seeing anyone at all. The only person you see is that one hour of fun with the FL/WL. Bang and go. :D
For the last stage of his years, can rent out the HDB flat, check into some old age home in Thailand or Vietnam, hire 1 or 2 young big boob nurses to change the adult diapers or feed you and live out the last days happily. Well, that is assuming, our country's currency is still strong then. :o

you are crazy!
Lim beh is not eyeing his $213,000 money.
I am genuinely concerned about him.
He already helped me to pay for my university course fees in 2015 to 2018.
And this is a leisure forum hence I just start this thread for leisure discussion becoz there are also many other single 45-years-old to 49-years-old single singaporeans staying alone with a fully paid up 3-rm HDB flat and have around $100,000 to $300,000 savings.
I go to church less often in this recent few years but I also remembered clearly last time when I am a frequent church goer, I remembered that some senior members of the church also often try to find potential singles in their 40s to early 50s to pair up with other 40s to early 50s unmarried singles church members and these senior church members also encouraged these unmarried 40s to early 50s church members to get a suitable permanent companion or get married if possible for the later old age companionship

Do well in your own life. Buy him dinner often. This way, you will make him happy - that his investment into your education paid off and you appreciate him by buying him dinner.
The rest, let him sort out his own life. If he is single by 48, chances are he prefers being single. I am in a marriage chat group where married people share their woes. It is not as simple as you make it out to be. And I am sure your 48 y.o uncle knows better

I wonder why so many are still single. Must be a big mismatch of expectations from both genders.

I am asking this question on behalf of my single 48-years-old uncle.
Hmm.... same age as me....
It really depends on him, what he wants and what he likes.
You are a very caring niece, but he has to make his decision in life really.
He is in a very good financial state with a fully paid up flat and a good savings.
Even without work now, he is self sustained with the room rental if he controls his expenses.
Life is really good for him now.
He should still find work to keep himself occupied, but he can take it easy and enjoy the fruits of his labor all these years.
Have a hobby, go fishing, play some sports, take a short budget vacation from time to time.
During his old age in the future, he will have you to look out for him in terms of safety. His finances and assets could take care of his needs.
That is the best way you can repay his kindness.

Your uncle is quite frugal . Although i m not sure if SSB pays coupons monthly.... but regardless.... a marriage is a no no lah unless both realily fall in love and want to start a family. If ur uncle is used to the freedom then really he should just continue w current lifestyle; afterall he has u to care for him in future .

Just my 2 cents.
At the end of the day really depends on what he’s looking for in a relationship. If it’s to find someone to take care of him when he’s old, then getting a foreign bride or whatever isn’t the best option, maybe a caregiver might be better. Whatever it is, there is always a risk in those transactional relationship; wife divorce to get his assets etc. ,like what the others have pointed out.
If it’s just physical needs then just go with paid sex, since he have the means to pay for it.
Really depends on what he wants. The different options that you have listed satisfy different purposes IMO.

Very commendable to look out for your uncle. Bravo Zulu.
imho despite his low opex, all it takes is a medical issue and his cash holdings could be drained significantly despite having passive income. All the more marriage should not be on the books.
Should he crave companionship, there are always the transaction sort but that itself also brings another issue if he gets kced by the ladies.
I suppose everything in moderation would be a better advice
To all with Singapore Savings Bonds, I suggest that you consider transferring some to the CPF Special Account if you don't need the interest payout until after 65. The multiplied interest is fantastic

I am currently the sole owner of a 4-rm HDB flat and I am 45-years-old. My 4-rm flat is also fully paid up with no housing loan.
I am thinking of renting out my whole 4-rm flat when my flat complete the MOP period next year and then I go to either Vietnam or Thailand to stay for a few years.
4-rm whole flat rental should be able to get $1900 rental.
Generally if exclude the costs spent on women there, what is the estimated total costs each month of housing rental/food/transport expenses in a typical city in Vietnam or Thailand??!
I don't smoke and I don't drink alcohol meaning I won't be spending any money on cigarettes or alcohol.

Rental $500-$700 (Depends on location. Need to commit at least a year to get this prices)
Electrical+water $100

Transport $150
But there are other issue to consider.... for example; Visa....

I recall if you are under the long term visa, every 90 days you have to do a visa run.
Since you are not 50 yet, the retirement visa is not applicable. That has a different set of criteria which involves 800k THB in a thai bank account and a monthly income of 65k THB. Valid for 1 year and you have to report to immigration every 90 days.

I hv semi retired, still with family in Sg. Hv try Wetnam and LOS, cost of living in cities not that cheap that we thought is, communications with local not easy, not to mention u r alway on the chopping board. Found Btm a better place to retired, with alot of Sg senior citizens there, standard of living 40 - 50% lower then Sg. Alot of local chinese ard town area, basically communications is not a problem, and is nearer to home. Any problem arose like Covid 19, just pack up and leave the place within an hour or 2. U don't need to show bank account to obtain a long term visa or retirement visa, just make a visa run every 30 days or less, u don't need to reach retirement age to retire in Btm. Hv regularly see 1 angmo retire in Btm, travel fm village island travel to Btm town stay 1 night then travel to Sg with milf maid for medical appointments, back in Btm the same day and back island home the following day. Pm me if more info needed.

Hmm.... same age as me....
That is the best way you can repay his kindness.
walan you!
I am a guy.
Hence is not niece.

So if a singaporean is 50-years-old BUT he does NOT intend to work in Thailand, so how much money he needs to deposit in a Thai bank in order to get the retirement visa stay in thailand?!
And this amount of money for how long he needs to put this fixed deposit in a thai bank?!

I disclose more info about my financial situation.
My 4-rm flat is fully-paid up with no housing loan. I am single. I am the sole flatowner.
But my bank account only has SGD $170,000 cash now.
I am 45-years-old now. I can either move overseas in year 2023 or wait until year 2025 when I am 50-years-old then move to stay overseas, both also can.
I am only considering mainly these 4 places to move to,
1) Vietnam, 2) Thailand, 3)Some cheaper cities in China, 4)Some cheaper areas in taiwan

Financial Requirements are as follows:
Bank Account showing THB 800,000
Monthly income of at least THB 65,000
Combination (Bank Account + Income x 12 = THB 800,000)
Do note the visa is 1 year only so ....

Seems like the magic number is 800k THB.
For a more definitive answer, you might wish to check with an immigration agency what handles such things like opening of the thai bank account etc.

PS: I

Actually not so jialat what. You can rent 2 rooms out for income for the rest of your life. If you keep working, you will have CPF set aside and can still save unused salary portion. Just transfer OA money to SA since you do not need to pay for mortgage. Plus do some investment.
If you retire at 65 or 70, should be ok. In the meantime, find a job you find meaningful and interesting.

You must be one of the little doggy that married foreign bride right, fits the cliché of low skilled low education men who need to marry foreign women.
Here is a lesson in English comprehension, if I am AGAINST marriage, why would I then marry and be a dog.
Clearly you are one that's why you are so defensive hahah, go back to driving uber.
You are wrong, several of my circle of ultra rich friends who own several cars, super sport car, live in landed property and own condo married foreigner wife. They are not low skilled or lowly educated.

Actually yesterday he told me that last week he chatted online with a singapore-born singaporean 43-years-old divorcee woman with 1 teenage daughter in a local dating website
He said during the dinner treat at a restaurant, the singaporean woman asked him does he have $250000 to $300,000? Becoz she said she wanted to open a nail saloon shop and she said the man that marries her must have the financial means to sponser her this $250000 to $300,000.
He said this singaporean divorcee woman is about only 5.5/10 in terms of her looks and she is working as admin assistant currently.

I am also a divorced guy that is 49-years-old this year.
My 2 kids are both grown up, 1 son is 23-yrs-old and the other son is 27-years-old and he married this year.
This year 2020 in January I met this singaporean woman from a dating platform for a lunch date. She is local-born.
She is also 49-years-old and she works as a security staff at the airport those check luggage type. Meaning she is quite lowly-educated. Think she at most only have A-levels or O-levels, maybe even N-levels.
She is not pretty. She is quite fat.
And yet during the lunch meeting, she ask me I got at least executive HDB flat or a small condo or not? (A HDB executive flat is slightly bigger than a HDB 5-rm flat)
When I told her I own a HDB 4-rm flat, her facial expression looks very very sian and she don't want to continue the conversation anymore.
This fat singaporean woman is shocking.
Anyway, my own 4-rm flat is also fully-paid up. And my eldest son he married and he bought his own hdb flat already.

But Quite many foreign brides can.
I stay in Bukit Batok West for 17 years already.
Anyone that has been staying in Bukit Batok West for more than 15 years will know of this hawker couple, The singaporean man is a handicapped guy, his 1 arm and 1 leg is deformed and he is low-income, his china bride is about 15-years younger than him, they operate a hawker stall in a coffeeshop selling Ban Mian and some other Hokkien province's delicacies there.
They had been married for more than 18-years already, their son now in polytechnic.
Although also got some foreign brides no good but foreign brides's character are generally still better than singapore-born women.
If that handicapped singaporean guy never marry his this china bride, he will never have a chance to experience a happy family life because 1) his 1 arm and 1 leg is handicapped and he is low-income, he has no skill. No singaporean woman will marry him.
In fact, is his china bride brought money and a prosperous life to him because his china wife can cook those Ban Mian and those Hokkien province delicacies and is becoz of her china wife, that this couple have a good hawker business for the past 20 years and can bring up their son until now study polytechnic.
Without his this china wife, that singaporean handicapp guy probably has to sell tissue papers for 3 packets for $1 at MRT stations or just do some part-time simple blue-collar work only and he will not have a successful good hawker business.
A few years ago, got 1 singaporean woman she committed adultery and then when confronted by her husband for her adultery, she stabbed her husband 11 times to death.
And it was revealed by the killed husband's parents that the woman's parents refused to let the dead man's young daughter come to pay the last respect to her deceased father during the funeral wake.
At the court trial, the killed husband's parents cried in Court, they said why this woman and her parents do until so wicked?
In singapore's history for the past 65 years since independence never hear of any china woman or vietnam woman or pinoy woman or thai woman so wicked after committed adultery, still go stab her husband 11 times to death and somemore her parents refuse to let the killed husband's young daughter to come pay respect to her murdered father in the funeral wake.
Is really pure evil this singaporean woman and her parents.

I am asking this question on behalf of my single 48-years-old uncle.
If you don't mind me asking, can you share his reason for not marrying when he was younger? And what does he look for in a marriage (notions and expectations) now that he is 48.
48-50 is strange age, it forces you to look at life differently, for one how much longer are you expecting to live? Then there are health issues and loss of mobility, income (when you retire) etc.
Marriage and (hence) family life comes with certain happiness, joys and responsibilities, yet it also brings problems, anger, sadness etc.
Bottomline is being marriage, like staying single is not for everyone. At your uncle's age maybe his perception of marriage changed from his younger days but the problem is can he meet the right one to share his values?

Your uncle is lucky, all he spent was some time and money for a dinner.
To put it very crudely, this woman is putting herself up for sale in the market, and she thinks she is worth this much. Nothing's wrong with that, she was being upfront, don't like it, don't take.
The woman is already 43, she knows she don't have much time left (to start a business that is), so she is actively looking for someone to help her to fulfil her dream.
Obviously your uncle don't think she's worth this much, and your uncle mentioned 5.5/10 in terms of looks...he's still looking for a pretty woman (don't we all) so....

I guarantee you she will spend every last bit of his money. Any 43 year old asking such a sum of money is ludicrous. Unless your uncle is very rich.
As for sex, don't think any man after 40 would have a raging libido (albeit still have a libido). I rather your uncle spend time to research how to even further his investments. Who knows, he might get rich and able to engage a private nurse or go to a luxurious nursing home when he's old. In his situation, women are no longer the end all be all goal. Esp in SG, the traditional Asian mindset of having a family with wife and children no longer guarantees a man with a safety net when he's old.
While with 995, I've seen many lonely elderly deaths. There's one case, whereby the 3 sons all turned up only when the police contacted them.

FUCK! FUCK!
The racist PRC-haters dogs in this forum are very retarded and very strange!
Whenever these PRC-haters dogs see anyone made a post that say they do not dislike PRC , these crazy PRC-haters dogs immediately crazily accuse the person of being a PRC.
These PRC-haters must understand that those people that hate/detest/dislike PRCs only form a very small percentage.
They are also many many people, including other non-chinese races that are very very OK with PRCs. Example, there are also many many malays, including malaysian-malays that are very ok with PRCs. That is why in the past 10 years , there had been a huge increase in China immigrants that migrate to stay in Malaysia becos the PRCs generally do not encounter racism from the malaysian-malays.
That is why recently got 1 Shanghainese new immigrant youtuber staying in Malaysia(she had been staying in malaysia for many years already), she openly said in her youtube clip that among all the asian countries, she said Malaysia is the best country for PRCs to migrate to, and the reason is not just cost of living. Her remarks and her own experiences proved that malaysian-malays generally are OK with the PRCs new immigrants staying in Malaysia.
So since the malaysian-malays never expressed overtly that they dislike PRCs, so are the racist PRC-haters dogs in this forum also going to accuse the malaysian-malays of being chinamen from china??!
Malaysian-malays are they only want to forever retain the bumi policy and to ensure the Prime Minister of Malaysia must be of malay race, that's all only. But the malaysian-malays are generally ok with the China new immigrants staying in Malaysia . That is why in the past 10 years despite the large increase of PRCs staying in Malaysia, never hear before got any case of open racism shown by malaysian-malays against the PRCs living in Malaysia.
Even in singapore, is also only a certain percentage of singaporeans detest/hate/dislike the China-chinese. Also got other singaporeans that treat the PRCs very well and are very very ok with the PRCs!
The crazy racist PRC-haters are delusional crazy retarded dogs!

Women from china etc or women generally from 20yrs ago different from women today. Do you think your mother is as materialistic and demanding as modern women in Singapore today.
When we are looking from the outside at another persons life its impossible to know how good or bad it is. What if i told you this hawker couple, his wife have a bf that she doesn't bother to hide, and cuckold him. Everyday scold and curse him call him useless even in front if child. She has poison the child mind to point where son disrespect the father. She say he disabled so impotent so not real father blah blah. Everyday ignore no sex unless to scold or ridicule. This behavior from women is pretty common, in fact this was what cause that double murder in 2017 etc. You can say why she not divorce him, maybe she can gain some benefit from his disability blah blah. My point is as a outsider, its pointless and foolish to use another persons life as a example of how to behave or how to live a life unless you know ALL the facts. Sure there can be happy stories, but the odds are not in your favor, even if you know 1-2-3-4-x stories of happy endings, how many stories have unhappy endings id bet ist 3x or even 10x tghe number of happy endings
Explaining changing times to this person, is like explaining nuclear physics to an orang utan. I guarantee this person won't be posting for long. Just add him to the ignore list.

From what you said, the foreign wife is only a replacement for his periodic physical needs. That is no basis to get married. For an occasional glass of milk, you don't need to own your own cow. Also, you mentioned that he is currently cash flow tight, consider that.
No matter what don't ever get married, at his age it best to just look for a companion...no point to get tie down with commitments..not forgetting how brutal the women charter act here is....if he marries effectively half of his asset will sooner or later goes to the half in the event the marriage don't work out..

what is the half asset rule?? like a prenup??
prenup are not recognize nor enforceable in singapore kangaroo court context...all divorce in singapore even if marriage is registered overseas will have to follow singapore rules..

He said this singaporean divorcee woman is about only 5.5/10 in terms of her looks and she is working as admin assistant currently.
what are these singaporean divorcee women thinking in their heads??
Interesting, seems like you have a lot of hearsay within your circle of interaction. Do PM me to share more? Thanks :D

FUCK!
Stop swearing you man's best friend companion

I think TS should check the uncle's insurance/healthcare plan as well. If he fall sick and require treatment/hospital, it gonna eat into the cash saved. Even with the insurance, should plan how to pay the premium fee without a job.
For the bros suggesting Thailand or Vietnam, I'm not sure about Vietnam but Thailand has very good healthcare. Also, there are some good videos on youtube how to retire in Thailand.

Yes, such soulmates encounters are far and few. I think the world needs more love, so many people are so deprived that even a stranger's hug can bring tears

you are dead wrong!
I can't agree more.
