So how about CHina girl? there are so many china girls here in singapore now and I believe many people have encounter with them or dated them. I dont understand why some people are so smitten by China girls.

If SG girls are spoilt, so are china girls. So many of those that I have excountered got attitude problems. Especially when they come to my work place with their boyfriends .when they kpkb, their boyfriends will kinda come to their rescue, which turns me off.

There is something about china girls that turn me off (like sg girls turn some people off).

Comparing the number of materialistic / self-centred / arrogant / spoilt SG gals against SG's female population, I believe the percentage is much higher than the percentage of those bad egg PRC gals against the population of female population in PRC!

TS, your personal experiences may had cast your thoughts to the negative side but do remember, what you saw and experience is not even a fraction of the Chinese population. Think about it, just Shanghai has 16 million in population.

We cannot simply judge by what we saw, we must be there to witness, experience and learn about the people and not simply allow one or two separate incidents to put down the entire population.

When I broke off with my sg gf, I got to know this PRC who is married. One day, I flew to her home town to surprise her. I guess she made a mistake by giving me her address and showing me the exact location of her house by using google earth haha... Or maybe she is geniune and not hiding anything. Wow... another big discussion going on here. Read and experienced what has been writen here.

1. Married to a singaporean and supporting her entire family. Happy to do that and not complaining.
2. Had a few singaporean part time gf over the years. 2 malays and the rest chinese. Dumped a few and got dumped as well. Some were sticky and difficult but managed to pull through so far.. Nothing to brag about here.
3. Been misled many times by PRC meimeis (sometimes my own fault). I have also unintentionally hurt a few(alright I'll be honest.. more than a few) so I think that pretty much even out as the number grows. Give and take, no complaints here.

Overall, I think the girls probably think the same way about us. We tend to remember those that treated us badly or relationships where we came out the losers. Good girls are easily forgotten as I was the bad guy, initiating the split and moving on to the new victim. They are good Singaporean girls around. I couldn't fault the girl for wanting to have a go to replace my wife as the legal partner. She was looking after her own interest.

On the other hand I couldn't point my finger at my PRC gf for asking for more allowance to support her family. Her motive here was to earn $$, and she has already given up time and emotion to be with me. And I have to say, there are good ones in the lot of PRC that are here to work, study, earn $$$. Like the SG,or Viets or Thais girls here, not all are bad :)

This thread started some time after the thread "Read this before you settle down with a SG girl". U have expressed yr negative opinion 2wards PRCs, and positive opinion 2wards SG gals, but there dont seem to be a thread to support SG gals & bash PRC gals.

For most SGPean samsters here who commented negatively about SG gals, I believe they had bad experiences b4, and seen plenty more negative cases. It's like, guys with negative experiences with SG gals is almost everywhere on the streets in SG.

I can oso understand the many pple who have problems wif PRC men & women. I would attribute it largely to "cultural" difference. Although on the outside, SGP is an Asian country, it's majority population is Chinese, but SG was a former British colony, and SG Gahmen & pple have been "carrying the balls" of ang moh all the time too! If 1 can speak v good English (especially ang moh accent), knows very well about ang moh history, culture, manners, etc etc, pple say he is very gentleman, civilised, educated, etc etc. But when 1 is well versed about China history, culture, etc etc, he isn't a big deal. He's lucky if pple dont call him old-fashioned, cheena, etc etc. If 1 has PR or even gave up SGP passport for ang moh countries' passport, such as Australia, UK, US, Canada, etc, he is envied by many pple. But if 1 did the same for another Asian country, he is considered as "downgrading". Yet in the "lifestyle" or "culture" of the SGP pple, they still observe very closely the Asian style, ie, want "face" or strong ego, usually eats Asian food for most meals or Asian food more than western food, men are breadwinners of the family / male-chauvinism, etc etc.

So I would say, SGP is somewhat lost between East & West. Asian by birth / nature, but trying hard to be ang moh / "por" the ang mohs, obsessed with ang moh "style" / culture, yet cant shake-off Asian culture / mentality.

While at least the PRCs, they have their own culture, heritage, language they can be proud of & truly call it theirs.

Bro Solidwoody.. you are not wrong to say that the PRC you met here are more 'mercenary'. I would like remind you that the bunch you meet are here for a reason. To make money in the short period they are here and not to fall in love. As far as going all the way for the almighty dollar let's go back to the 80s before the Singaporean men knew the existance of PRC. The local singaporeans, Malaysians girls they were the queens of KTV and mistresses to the rich and famous here.. They are still around, just outnumbered.

There are good and bad ones. I would go on to say there are good ones amongst those that are here to make a living at the KTV scene. I have seen many girls who turn down big monthly(10K or more) allowances from rich men cos they cant make themselves do it. I have also seen many that are kept and still come out to have fun or work. So it all depends on your luck just like choosing a singaporean gf. The one thing I 'll side the PRC is that given the same amount of time,effort and affection to 10 Sing gals and 10 PRC girls sample groups, I tend to get more return from the PRC hands down.

I think we are very lucky to be here. I thank my fore fathers for the good foresight and bravery to run away from then communist china to settle down in S E Asia back then. I could be one of the waiters at the Chinese restaurants now had they not made that decision to move. Back then, brute strength can earn 3 meals, now we need more than a basic degree. No fault of theirs for being mercenery and competitive. Only the fittest survive.

Perhaps from their point of view, they feel foreign to us hence having a stronger sense of self-protection and act in a pretty hostile manner towards some issues. I do agree that some of their manners begs criticizing but I rather keep my fingers cross till we cross path with them.

I was watching the Olympics telecast with my SG GF. GF commented that the PRC gals at medals ceremony all look exceptional. They all looked perfect and perfectly groomed in their perfect cheongsams. Also, at every venue there were so many of them.

The moral of the anecdote is that there are literally millions of PRC girls who have ability and looks in a huge country bursting at the seams with cheap (well cheaper than Singapore for sure) labour. I have nothing against NUS girls in general but I think your views on NUS girls as compared with other girls are hopelessly misguided.

Without a doubt, they are academically better than those with a diploma or O levels but that does not mean that they are able to think better. If you do a quick look at the demographics, you will find that there is a higher proportion of uni students who live in private properties compared with the poly students or those with only O levels.

Chances are the average poly student or the one with the O levels works part-time to supplement the family income. While there are certainly a number of uni students who give tuition or work part-time to supplement their income, based on the fact that more uni students come from well to do families, I think in terms of proportion, there are probably more poly students or those with only O levels working part time.

I tend to think that the average poly student and those with only O levels are probably more matured in thought and more street-wise compared with the average uni student. The average uni girl is probably far more demanding as a gf compared with the average poly girl or one with only O levels.

I think this is a little too far fetch. No doubt a better educated girl may aide in easing financial burden but then also down to if she is willing to chip in her part and be less demanding about her life styles.

An ‘O’ level holder does not mean that she is not educated and may not be a good GF or wife. The upbringing and character also plays a vital part in relationship. I would relate guys paying for initial dates for several reasons:

- Yes, it's some form of courtesy, a gentlemanly gesture, for the guys to pay

- It is Asian culture that men are breadwinners of the family, it's kinda creates an initial impression for the gal that he has the ability to do it

On the other hand, I think I must have been very fortunate, for most of the China gals I met become good frens with me. In fact, several of them even lent me money when I was having cash-flow problems during the initial days I re-located to China.
