Bro, a good erection is really a blood-flow story. When you're turned on, the lining of your blood vessels releases nitric oxide (NO). NO relaxes the vessels and lets blood rush in. Viagra and Cialis work by keeping that signal going for longer. The good news is that plenty of everyday foods and habits support the same system, and many of them help your blood pressure and heart too.

Here's an honest run-through, sorted by how strong the evidence is.

The Real Deal: Habits

These have the best evidence, and they cost nothing.

• Aerobic exercise. Brisk walking, jogging, cycling or swimming, about 40 minutes most days. Studies show it clearly improves erections, especially in guys who were inactive. It's the closest thing to a natural Viagra there is.
• Pelvic floor exercises. Squeeze the muscles you'd use to stop peeing mid-stream, hold for a few seconds, relax, and repeat. In one well-known trial, regular practice helped many men noticeably.
• Losing some weight. Even a modest drop around the tummy improves blood vessel health and testosterone.
• Quitting smoking. Smoking damages the vessel lining that makes NO. Quitting is one of the best gifts you can give your erection.
• Easy on the alcohol. One drink relaxes you, but a big session switches things off.
• Good sleep. Seven hours or so. Poor sleep and untreated snoring (sleep apnoea) both drag down testosterone.

Good Evidence: Foods for Blood Flow

Dietary nitrates (beetroot and leafy greens). Your body turns nitrates from vegetables into NO. Beetroot juice reliably lowers blood pressure a little in studies. You also get nitrates from spinach, rocket, kangkong, chye sim, xiao bai cai and celery. A plate of greens with your cai fan counts. Tip: skip antibacterial mouthwash, because the friendly mouth bacteria help with the conversion.

Mediterranean-style eating. Lots of vegetables, fruit, beans, nuts, fish and olive oil, and less processed meat. Men who eat this way have better erections and better hearts. A fish soup or yong tau foo with plenty of greens fits the bill.

Dark chocolate and cocoa. Cocoa flavanols give a small blood pressure benefit. Go for 70% or darker, a couple of squares, not a whole bar.

Garlic. Garlic, or aged garlic extract, modestly lowers blood pressure in people whose pressure is high. Good news for garlic-heavy dishes.

Omega-3 and oily fish. Salmon, sardines, mackerel and saba are good for the heart and blood vessels. There's no direct proof they fix erections, but a healthy heart helps everything downstairs.

Promising, But Smaller Studies

L-citrulline and watermelon. Citrulline (found in watermelon, especially the white part near the rind) turns into arginine and then NO. Small studies suggest it can help mild ED. Watermelon is a tasty, harmless way to start.

L-arginine. A review of trials found it helped mild to moderate ED compared with placebo. It works best combined with pine bark extract.

Pycnogenol (pine bark) plus arginine. This combo has several small positive trials for mild ED.

Pomegranate juice. One small trial leaned positive but didn't quite prove it. It's still a healthy, antioxidant-rich drink.

Korean red ginseng (Panax). A Cochrane review found it may improve erections a little, though the studies were small. It's the herb with the best case behind it, and it's easy to find in Singapore.

Tongkat ali. Popular in this region. Some small studies show modest benefits, mainly for men with low testosterone. Quality varies a lot, so buy a reputable brand.

Maca. Some evidence it boosts desire, but little for erections themselves.

Mostly Hype

Tribulus. Big claims, but a proper trial found it did no better than placebo for erections.

Horny goat weed (epimedium). Interesting in lab studies, but there's very little good evidence in real men.

Risky: Skip It

Yohimbe. It can cause a racing heart, anxiety, high blood pressure and worse. US health authorities warn about it, and supplement labels often don't match what's inside. Not worth it, bro.

Safety First

• Stacking adds up. Beetroot, arginine, citrulline and ginseng can all lower blood pressure a bit. On top of blood pressure pills or Viagra/Cialis, that can mean dizziness or fainting. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before combining.
• Never mix with nitrate heart medicines (like GTN or isosorbide). With Viagra-type pills this is a dangerous combination, and supplements like arginine aren't worth the risk either.
• Beware "100% herbal" sex pills. HSA keeps finding so-called natural products spiked with hidden sildenafil or tadalafil, sometimes at high doses. These have sent people to hospital. Buy from proper pharmacies, and if a pill works like magic, be suspicious.
• Ginseng and garlic supplements can interact with blood thinners, and ginseng can affect blood sugar.

Your Erection Is a Heart Check

Erection troubles often show up a few years before heart problems, because the vessels down there are smaller and show trouble first. That's actually useful: it's an early warning you can act on. If things have changed, see a GP or polyclinic and get your blood pressure, sugar and cholesterol checked. Healthier SG screening makes this easy and cheap. ED is very treatable, and doctors see it every day, so there's no need to feel shy.

This article is general information, not medical advice. Please check with your doctor before starting supplements, especially if you take any medication.

Where to Get Help in Singapore

• Your Healthier SG GP or family doctor: for ED, screening and an honest chat.
• Polyclinics: affordable checks for blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol.
• A urologist (men's health specialist): via GP referral if needed.
• Healthier SG: healthiersg.gov.sg for screening and enrolment.

Eat your greens, move every day, sleep well, and let your body do what it was built for.

Take care, bro.
From my conversation with ML, it has always been there is debt at home, to earn money to start a business etc. But i spoke to one and she told me at one point she was earning 100k/month from her bf.

She told me she is basically already a millionaire with 8 properties and bought even a land for her birthday. She even have her own business now. But she still comes back to work this trade, why is that so despite already financially free?

I don’t think any of them would actually enjoy this trade for real right..so not sure why they still continue, unless she is lying about how wealthy she is which I don’t see why she would lie.

This is just out of curiosity on what you all think? Think this is the only platform that allows a free discussion on such things or else no way to understand more on such things too. I appreciate the response.

General health information for members. This is not medical advice, so please see a doctor about your own situation. This post does not promote or arrange any services.

Turning 40 doesn't mean your sex life is winding down. The US National Institute on Aging (NIA) says many older couples actually find more satisfaction in their sex lives than when they were younger, with fewer distractions, more time and a better sense of what they want. Your body does change, and knowing how it changes takes away a lot of worry. Here's a plain guide to what's normal, what's hype, and what actually keeps you in good form.

What's normal as you get older

Mayo Clinic describes the usual changes like this:

• Erections may take a bit longer to come and may not be quite as firm.
• You may need more direct touch to get going and stay going.

No need to compare yourself with your 25-year-old self.

The important part: Mayo Clinic says erectile dysfunction (ED) is not a typical part of ageing. Slower doesn't mean broken. And an off night now and then is completely normal at any age. The NIA says ED only becomes something to talk to your doctor about if it happens often.

The "male menopause" myth

You'll often hear that a man's testosterone crashes at 40. The NHS calls "male menopause" an unhelpful and misleading term. Here's what it actually says:

• Testosterone does fall with age, but slowly and steadily, about 1% a year from around age 30 to 40. That gentle drop is unlikely to cause problems by itself.
• A real testosterone deficiency later in life (doctors call it late-onset hypogonadism) does exist. The NHS describes it as uncommon and not a normal part of ageing. It's more likely in men who are obese or have type 2 diabetes.
• Many symptoms people blame on hormones, like low drive, poor erections, tiredness and moodiness, often come from stress, poor sleep, too much alcohol, lack of exercise, money or work worries, or low mood.

So if you're feeling flat, it's worth looking at the whole picture, not just one hormone.

Getting testosterone checked properly

If you do have symptoms, a proper check is simple:

• It takes symptoms plus blood tests. The American Urological Association (AUA) says low testosterone means low levels together with symptoms. Many of those symptoms are vague and can come from other conditions, so a doctor needs to look at both.
• Morning blood tests, usually twice. Cleveland Clinic says testosterone is highest in the morning, so the test usually needs two separate morning samples. Being sick can lower your level for a while, so tell your doctor if you're unwell.
• Lifestyle comes first. Cleveland Clinic says eating well and staying active are the first treatments. Medicine is considered if those don't help after 6 to 12 months, or if symptoms are severe.
• Testosterone therapy isn't for everyone. It's given as gels, injections and other forms under a doctor's care. Cleveland Clinic lists situations where it may not be suitable, such as prostate cancer, a recent heart attack or stroke, or untreated sleep apnoea. If you still want kids, tell your doctor, as there are other options for that situation.

Skip the "natural" booster pills

This is the big one for Singapore bros. The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) keeps finding sex pills and "herbal" boosters spiked with prescription drugs. A few real examples from HSA:

• A product sold as "natural" and "devoid of side effects" contained more than 60 times the usual dose of tadalafil, a prescription ED medicine.
• A "candy" labelled as just ginseng and coffee contained tadalafil at up to 57 times the usual daily dose.
• Fake Cialis and another sex-enhancement product were found to contain a diabetes medicine that dropped men's blood sugar dangerously low and landed them in hospital.

HSA says products from street stalls, unknown websites and dodgy online sellers may be fake, contain the wrong dose, or contain hidden ingredients. Cleveland Clinic also advises avoiding over-the-counter testosterone supplements and seeing a doctor instead.

The good news is that real ED medicines work well and are easy to get properly. A GP can prescribe them after a quick check to make sure they're safe with your heart and any other medicines you take. It's a short, normal chat for them.

Your erection is a health check

Mayo Clinic says ongoing erection trouble can be a sign of a health condition and is a risk factor for heart disease. The same things that affect your blood vessels affect your erections, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, smoking and carrying extra weight. Mayo Clinic says more than half of men between 40 and 70 have some form of ED, so you're in big company.

Look at it this way: sorting out your erections often means sorting out your heart health too. That's a good deal.

Singapore makes the check easy. HealthHub says cardiovascular screening under Healthier SG Screening checks your weight and waist, blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol. If you're 40 or above, haven't been diagnosed with these conditions and haven't screened in the last three years, check your eligibility on HealthHub.

Habits that keep you in form

Nothing here is fancy, but it all works together:

• Move more. The NHS recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate activity a week, like brisk walking or cycling, plus some muscle-strengthening work. Even exercising once or twice a week lowers heart disease risk.
• Sleep well. Cleveland Clinic links healthy testosterone to about seven hours a night and to treating sleep apnoea if you snore heavily or wake up tired.
• Go easy on the drinks. The NIA says too much alcohol can cause erection problems.
• Quit smoking if you can. Mayo Clinic says tobacco reduces blood flow and adds to ED over time.
• Check your medicines. The NIA notes some blood pressure medicines, antidepressants and antihistamines can affect sex. Don't stop anything on your own. Ask your doctor whether there's an alternative.
• Look after your head. Stress, anxiety and low mood affect sex at every age. Talking to someone helps.

Safe sex still matters

The NIA puts it simply: age doesn't protect you from STIs. If you're dating again after a divorce, or just enjoying life with new partners, condoms are still your friend and regular STI checks are just routine maintenance. Most STIs are common and treatable or manageable, so there's no shame in getting tested.

When you test, tell the doctor honestly what you did and who did what, so they test the right places.

The Oldest Profession: How Societies Have Viewed Paying for Sex, and How to Do It with Respect

People like to say paying for sex is "wrong", as if that has always been obvious. History says otherwise. For most of recorded time, many societies treated commercial sex as a normal, if not always admired, part of life. The strong moral disapproval many of us grew up with is fairly recent, and much of it came from Western Christian thinking and Victorian ideas that spread around the world, including to Singapore. The real story has more twists than "fine until the Church came along", though, so here is a quick tour.

The ancient world: normal, regulated, and a bit two-faced

Mesopotamia. Some of the oldest law codes and temple records mention prostitutes, and the Code of Hammurabi has rules about women's property that cover them. Older books talk a lot about "sacred prostitution" in temples. Many modern historians now doubt it happened the way it was described, so treat that part as disputed.

Ancient Greece. In Athens, paying for sex was legal and ordinary. There were ordinary brothel workers (pornai) and the hetairai, educated companions who went to dinner parties and sometimes became famous, like Aspasia and Phryne. A later story says the lawmaker Solon set up state brothels to keep young men out of trouble. That comes from writers living centuries after him, so it's probably more legend than fact. Athens did tax sex workers, though, and the trade was out in the open.

Rome. Prostitution was legal, registered and taxed. Emperor Caligula is said to have brought in a tax on it. Pompeii still has its brothel, with menus painted on the walls. But it came with a catch. Sex workers, like actors and gladiators, carried infamia, a legal loss of status. Society used their services and looked down on them at the same time. So "accepted" never quite meant "respected".

Asia: courtesans, licensed quarters and rulebooks

India. The Arthashastra, an ancient treatise on statecraft, treats the ganika (courtesan) as a regulated profession, with a state superintendent, rules about fees and protections against mistreatment. The Kama Sutra talks about courtesans matter-of-factly, and the best of them were admired for their skill in music, conversation and the arts.

China. From the Tang through the Song dynasties and later, courtesan culture was part of city life. Scholars and officials socialised in entertainment quarters where the top courtesans were known for poetry, music and wit. There were also humbler brothels, and many women entered the trade through poverty or sale. Glamour at the top, hardship lower down.

Japan. In 1617 the Tokugawa shogunate licensed the Yoshiwara district in Edo (now Tokyo). It became a centre of art and fashion, and woodblock prints and kabuki drew heavily on its world. It was also walled in, and many women were bound to the houses by debts. Licensing meant the state accepted the trade and controlled it, not that the workers were free.

Christianity: from "necessary evil" to crackdown

Here is where the usual story needs adjusting. The early and medieval Church did not simply ban commercial sex. Saint Augustine wrote that if you removed prostitutes from society, lust would spill over into everything else. Later, Thomas Aquinas's circle passed on the idea that prostitution was like the sewer of a palace: unpleasant, but take it away and the whole place fills with filth. The sin was condemned in theory and tolerated in practice.

In the late Middle Ages, many towns in Germany, France, Italy and Spain ran official municipal brothels. Some even licensed them openly as a public service to keep young unmarried men away from respectable women. The Church also held up Mary Magdalene as a symbol of the reformed prostitute, and it supported houses where women could leave the trade.

The real tightening came in the 1500s. Syphilis swept through Europe from the 1490s and made brothels look dangerous. The Protestant Reformation pushed a stricter sexual morality centred on marriage, and many reformed towns shut their brothels. The Catholic Counter-Reformation then tightened rules on its side too. So Christianity mattered, but disease, politics and changing ideas about marriage were all part of the shift.

The Victorians, and how it reached Singapore

Britain's Contagious Diseases Acts (1864–1869) let police in garrison and port towns detain women they suspected of being prostitutes and force them to have medical checks, to protect soldiers and sailors from VD. Their clients were never checked. Campaigners led by Josephine Butler fought the Acts as unfair to women, and they were repealed in 1886. That fight then fed a wider "social purity" movement that saw commercial sex itself as a moral evil.

The British Empire carried both approaches abroad. In the Straits Settlements, Singapore had a Contagious Diseases Ordinance and registered brothels from the 1870s. Brothels in places like Malay Street and Smith Street were full of Chinese and Japanese women, many of them trafficked or in debt. As purity campaigners in Britain gained influence, the colony tightened up. Importing women for prostitution was banned in 1927, and brothels were banned in 1930. Selling sex itself stayed legal. Much of today's thinking in Asia was shaped by this colonial-era moral debate, not by older local traditions.

Singapore today: pragmatic, not permissive

Singapore's approach is often described as tolerated and contained. As generally reported (this is not legal advice):

Selling or buying sex between consenting adults is not in itself an offence.

Public soliciting, living off someone else's earnings (pimping), running unlicensed brothels, trafficking, and anything involving anyone under 18 are serious crimes under the Women's Charter and other laws. Penalties include jail, and caning for some repeat offences.

A limited number of brothels in designated areas are tolerated under police oversight, and the workers there have regular health checks linked to DSC.

The rules change and are enforced in ways that aren't always written down, so check current information yourself and don't rely on forum lore.

So, is it ethical?

Philosophers still argue about it. Some see sex work as work like any other, and others see it as harmful by nature. Laws around the world range from fully legal (Germany, New Zealand) to criminalising the buyer (Sweden). A reasonable, non-preachy view is that two consenting adults agreeing on a fair exchange is their own business. What makes it right or wrong is how it's done. In practice, that means:

Consent is the whole deal. Agree clearly on what's included, and accept a "no" or a change of mind without arguing.

Make sure she's there by choice. Warning signs include someone else holding her passport or phone, someone else doing all the talking, a worker who seems scared, doesn't know where she is, or never goes out, or anyone who looks young. If something feels off, walk away. Singapore has anti-trafficking hotlines, and you can report anonymously.

Adults only, no exceptions. If in doubt, leave.

Pay what you agreed, on time. No haggling afterwards and no "stealthing" (taking the condom off without asking).

Be a decent human. Shower, be polite, keep to the time and don't share photos or names. Treat her the way you'd want your sister treated at her job.

Respect her privacy. Reviews can be useful, but leave out anything that could identify or hurt her.

Health, briefly

Use condoms for penetration, and think about them for oral sex too. Get a routine STI check every 3 months if you're active, and pick the tests based on what you actually did and who did what to whom. PrEP is worth discussing with a doctor if HIV is a concern, and PEP within 72 hours is there if a condom breaks. DSC and many GPs offer confidential testing.

People have been paying for sex for as long as there have been cities. Enjoy life, keep it consensual and fair, and look after yourself and the person you're with.

Take care, bro.

(DAN)
The tickets cost three hundred and eighty dollars. I told Cam they cost two hundred.

That's not lying. That's management. She'd have made me sell them if she'd known.

Two tickets. Standing, on the floor, dead centre. Cam had been talking about this band for six months — some four-piece noise machine from Manchester that she'd found on a playlist and built her entire personality around. She called them her boys. She had a poster. She was thirty-one years old and she had a poster.

I don't like concerts. Too loud, too hot, too many strangers with elbows.

But I love watching her want things.

So I bought the tickets and didn't tell her, and when she opened the envelope she screamed and hugged me so hard my glasses came off, and then she went quiet, and then she said:

"What do I wear?"

That was the first sign.

Cam is conservative.

Not in the political way. In the fabric way.

Three bras, all beige. Changes in the bathroom. One-piece to the pool. When we first started dating it took four months before she'd let me see her in a bra in actual daylight. She calls her body "practical."

She is small. Five foot three in the shoes she keeps for weddings. Small bones — wrists you can get a thumb and a finger round, which I have, on the sofa, on a Sunday, for nine years. Dark hair she keeps tied up and had let down tonight. Freckles across the tops of her shoulders that she covers with cardigans in case anybody notices.

A small mole on her left hip, just above the bone. She thinks nobody knows about it. I know about it.

And small breasts. That's the one.

She has spent her whole adult life mildly apologising for them. The padded bras she doesn't need. The tops she tugs down. The way she crosses her arms in photographs like she's guarding something. Nobody ever told her they were good. Nobody ever told her they were bad either. She has simply spent thirty-one years filling in that gap by herself, and the answer she has written down is not quite enough.

And Cam is a peacemaker. That's the deeper thing. Middle child, two louder sisters, a mother who cried at the table. She grew up being the one who smoothed it over and never made a fuss, and she has carried it into thirty-one the way you carry a suitcase you've stopped noticing.

She doesn't complain in restaurants. She doesn't send food back. If a man steps on her foot on a train she says sorry.

So when she stood in front of the mirror that Friday, holding up a short denim skirt, something in the house had already shifted.

"Too much?"

"For a rock concert? No."

"It's short."

"Cam. Everyone there is going to be sweating on each other."

She bit her lip. "That's the part I'm worried about."

She wore it anyway. Short denim skirt. Thin white t-shirt — thin enough that she'd spent ten minutes in the bedroom working out what to put underneath it. Straps show through the cotton. She hates that. So she dug out the one strapless bra she owned, the one she'd bought for her cousin's wedding and worn exactly twice, and put it on.

"Straps," she said, showing me. "See? Nothing shows."

Nothing showed.

Hair down. Slip-on canvas shoes, because she hates laces. A thin gold cross at her throat and her wedding ring on her finger.

She looked like a girl who'd wandered into the wrong decade and was about to enjoy it.

And on the Thursday — the night before — she'd trimmed.

Not shaved. Cam doesn't shave; she tried it once in her twenties, got a rash, and wrote the whole thing off as a scam. Trimmed. Neat and close, the way she does it once a fortnight, with a little pair of nail scissors and about four minutes of total concentration in the bathroom with the door locked.

She hadn't mentioned it. Not once. Not on the Thursday, not on the Friday, not in the car.

Which meant that some part of her — some small, quiet, sensible part she would absolutely deny under oath — had got ready for a concert as though something might happen.

She'd have told you it was nothing. She trims on Thursdays anyway.

I remember two things from the front door.

The first was: that bra looks loose.

The second was her handing me things. Her phone, her keys, a bank card and her ID — all of it, because the skirt had exactly one tiny back pocket and it was big enough for a card and nothing else.

"Handbag," she said, and put the card and the ID in the pocket, and gave me the rest.

I remember thinking nothing else about any of it for the rest of the night.

(SCOTT)
Scott had been running the pit for eleven years.

Not officially. Nobody makes you king of a mosh pit. You just are, if you're big enough and patient enough and you never once lose your temper in front of a crowd. Scott was six-four, built like a loading dock, short beard, gold chain, and a way of standing perfectly still while two hundred people crashed around him like he was the only pillar in the room.

He came to concerts the way other men went to church. He came with six of his boys. They called him Scott, but the boys called him Chief, and they did what he said without asking why.

Tonight he was bored.

Then a small Asian girl in a white tee got pushed into his view, and a thin man in glasses put an arm around her shoulder like a seatbelt, and Scott straightened up.

Protective one. New money. New girl. New everything.

He watched the man's hand. Not on her waist. Her shoulder. Like a father walking a daughter into a school play.

Then he watched the girl for a while, which was the more useful thing.

Small. Fine-boned. The sort of woman who disappears in a crowd and then you catch sight of her again and can't work out why you lost her. Nice legs and no idea she had them. Chest he wasn't going to say anything about, but his hands were already saying it.

And she was the type. He could see it from ten feet. She apologised when people bumped her. She moved around people rather than through them. When her man steered her by the arm she went where she was steered.

Peacemaker, Scott thought. Never made a fuss in her life.

He took a sip of his beer.

That hand's not lasting the night.

(CAM)
The queue outside took forty minutes and the door security took ten.

The security man was big and bored and ran his hands down Cam's sides with the flat of his palms — under her arms, down her ribs, over her hips, patting her thighs through the skirt. Standard. Nothing. She'd had it done a hundred times.

Nothing, she thought.

Then she got inside, and the floor was sticky, and the air was a wall, and she thought: that was the last time anybody touched me who wasn't Dan.

She didn't know how right she was.
