Couple of days in BKK.. Is race a major factor to have great experience?
 

I am planning a visit to BKK. I am of indian origin from the US .. Atheltic, well groomed with good hygeine.. It appears you may have difficulty to find decent experiences becuase of your race.. it may be the result of the bad rep created by behavioirs and hygeine etc - and it is what it is ..

Any advice for the folks that have visited before on how to approach it to have good time.. Thanks

major factor? probably not if the lady can see at first glance that youre a decent looking and classy guy.

but i heard from a lady i was with while in bangkok that the large south asian tourist population in bangkok in the last few years has not helped the reputation of south asian at all lol. she complained about a lot of groups including indian, chinese, and korean tourists, but she especially had a lot to say about indian tourists because of their arrogance, poor hygiene/body odour, below average appearance, being cheap, etc.

the saying "stereotypes exist for a reason" comes to mind here. but if you properly set yourself apart from the stereotype and are a pleasant person, i think a lady starts seeing and judging you as an individual, apart from any prejudices she may have initially held based on your race.

perhaps introduce yourself as "american" lol

Dun go BKK...... go to Pattaya.
You'll be at home there as that city has transformed into Mumbai with tons of Ah Nehs around.

Even Walking Street has changed to cater to the Indians with more than half the clubs & AGGs transformed into Indian Nitghclubs.

There are very much less slim, fair working ladies in Patts now as the customers that favour them like the Koreans, Japanese, Asians stopped going to Pattaya.

Instead the ladies there now are those plumb, bakchai types which are favoured by the Indian customers.

Wow.. not sure how to read this message. will stick to BKK for now.. I am not a big favorite of plump types either..

Yup...it was obviously wrote by someone with a fixed and prejudiced mindset, and poor englush, or taking the piss not sure which.

Go BKK..its fine...as to stereotypes..well my own NRI friends hv zero issues in BKK...the gals can readily tell. Dressed well, groomed differently, etc.

Hello. If you introduce yourself as Singaporean, it’ll be less difficult for you to have some fun. But yes, there is definitely prejudice against people of Indian descent.

I am actually US citizen grew up there first time visiting Thailand as a tourist.

Issue is they find indians cheap. Everything want free or discount. If you show your willing to spend. Then all different

1) Present yourself as American & please proof that to your syt.
2) Do not be stingy or be a cheapo. If lady drinks or bar fine too expensive, go to another bar.
3) Dress well, from shoes to a nice hair cut.
4) Do not smell of coconut oil.
5) Do not be hairy. No moustache, no hair on your chin.
6) Be street smart.
7) Be purposeful in your outings.
8) Speak English properly without the damn sub continental Indian accent.
9) No need to bat fine agogo girls, the escorts outside can also be bar fined for fun. So, look and see.

Just play up your US citizenship. Pattaya has US links anyway.

When did Thailand turn seedy? Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket are not historically sex selling cities. The sleaze trend started during the Vietnam War when there is a B52 bomber airbase near Pattaya. Day time bomb Laos and Vietnam. Night time go to nearby Pattaya for rest and recreation fun. When the US left, the bars they leave behind became present day touristy Pattaya.
