Wouldn't it be a shocker if the members from this website get together and contribute a small donation and give it to the grandma?

Definitely newsworthy for STOMP as long as we dun do a CHC. :D

You make it sound as if Singaporeans visiting this forum are inhuman beasts.

Sex is just one of the many parts that occupy a person's life. Sex is not the ONLY part of a human's life.

We definitely are more than just interested in sex. We are interested in many other knowledge, fields, and topics.

Dont look down on yourself or look down on us just because we visit this forum.

People in this forum are capable of many good things as well.

:(:(:(

Even Chinese prostitutes can be patriots.

The mistakes, wrongs and under-achievement of the previous generation should not impact the next generation.

Hopefully the boy get a good education, good job and break out of the poverty cycle. But I fear his chances are slim.
His parents generation did not break out from the poverty cycle pass over from his grandparent's generation.

Hopefully Singapore's system encourages such break-outs from poverty cycle and not breed elitisms whereby elite always remains elites just because of the achievements of the previous generations.

I never seen such pitiful scenes in Singapore before.

Guess 1980s-1990s were Singapore's best times.

Now is the period of decline.

Singapore's system should not also breed the under-achieved will always remain under-achieved and poor just because the previous generations under-achieved and was poor.

Individuals like us even collectively cannot help long term and stop-gap measures will not help this child until he finish education and find his first job.

Only government has the most resources to help this child long term and give him an equal shot at getting the right education and into university and getting a white-collar job.

But given the child's circumstances, most probably he need to work 10 times harder than his peers because his distractions are more than his peers and plus no parents to guide his growing up and development etc, it is very against the child.

Most probably his grandmother will pass away before the child grows up and he will never know his roots, his parents nor his grandparents. Poor kid really.

If he is lucky, he still can catch a glimpse of memory of his blind old grandmother. I thought such scenes only play out in China.

This is no more a question of self-reliance, upgrading , being hardworking, finding a job etc. Such people really need help and deserve long term help from government.

Hope MCYS will not repeat the 2007 question on this child and blind old lady : " How much do you want? Do you want three meals in a hawker centre, food court or restaurant?"
