If the sex was protected then the risk is low and there is no need to go for PEP.

It is not necessary to get tested every time you have protected sex unless you have developed specific symptoms.

If you are sexually active but take the necessary precautions like using a condom, just get tested every 6 months as part of your health check routine.

my 1 and only time actually ... but I am scare stiff

all the semen were contain in condom so I am fairly sure that there is no leakage..

nevertheless I cant sleep now. I will never go for paid sex ever again

dont bother doing for PEP, there is little to worry if you had use the condom and there was no tear.

PEP is only for those who are high risk category. e.g raw sex with a WL(esp those illegal cheap 20 per shag type).

and lastly paid sex can be safe sex too.

"Unpaid" sex can be just as risky as paid sex. All sexual contact is risky as STDs/HIV are very common nowadays.

However as long as you use a condom for all sexual encounters whether paid or free, your risk of HIV is very low so you shouldn't worry about it.

If you do intend to have unprotected sex within a committed relationship, make sure that both of you get tested first as many STDs exhibited no symptoms.

As far as I can see you're being paranoid because of your inexperience. What you need to do is fuck a few more prostitutes and after a while you'll find it to be a perfectly normal activity. :D

condoms, have a 99.8% chance of preventing the transmitting of the HIVirus.

i think you should be more worried if you guys have french kissed, or unprotected oral sex. Whereby even micro wounds can assist the virus in being transmitted to the another party.

mate, actually sex with sex workers isnt safe even with the rubber on, one can still get something nasty.. i think he did the right thing by coming here to ask for advice.
i would do that too if i have doubts with my sexual health. :p

The statements are not contradictory. Condoms provide excellent protection against HIV but you can still catch other nasties like Herpes and Genital warts even if a condom is used.

This is because diseases which are transmitted via skin to skin contact can be caught via areas not covered by the condom eg the scrotum and the base of the penile shaft.

However your primary concern seems to be HIV and your chances of catching that are so low that your doctor deems PEP as unnecessary. You therefore have nothing much to worry about. None of the other diseases are life threatening.

you are asking about HIV/STD.. so i am saying that while your chance of getting HIV is very low, it is still possible for you to get STDs even if you are protected.

Using rubber lower the risk of you getting stds but it is not foolproof... you could still get nasty like herpes... see sam's reply in the post above.

if you have past the 72 hours mark then there is little point doing PEP anymore. just go do the HIV test in a month time.
