I think what TS is more of going is that you should avoid the main tourist places if you want to find locals.

No one is asking you to start splashing money around in the local pubs, my own experience opening 1 bottle of black label is more than enough (my go to excuse is that I usually dont drink beer and I am ok if the bottle isnt finished). Most girls will be more than willing to help you out with your bottle and YMMV after that
