In Singapore, these types of services are classified under VAS - Value Added Services. In other words, have to pay. Your phone probably have options to turn it off but it will also say it's Network Dependant. In other words, PAY!

No other way about it here.

Same reason as why some uses a aeroplane sim card. May not want FLs knowing their number so that won't get nuisance calls.

Been using this service for many years.
There was a period it's optional to choose who we want our number to appear as 'blocked'. Then I found it quite leichey.
Uncertain if this still available. For now, my mobile and home lines are all private :p
