Just to share my experince with Bros who like to cheong in JB. I thought this might be the best place to warn others bro on what had happen to me.
Last Sunday afternoon, I received a call from a malaysian colleague who say that he wanted to bring me to an exclusive underground club in JB. Was told that there were russian, malaysian, prc and viet gals in that club. So i arranged to meet him at City Square in JB at 5.00pm. Got really excited and thought that if the place is really good, then i can share this place with bros in SBF.
When i reach JB City Sq at around 5.15pm, I called my friend and he told me that he will be slightly late. So i decided to go to the macdonalds near to the entrance at city square to wait for him. I ordered a kiddy meal (as i was expecting to have dinner with my colleague later) which come with a free toy. After ordering my food, I found a seat at the corner of macdonalds. It was a corner four seater table next to a wall. So I sat next to the wall and after finishing my food, i took a look at the toy. Then a skinny rugged looking man came over and sit right next to me. The conversation were as follows:
Man : Are you a malaysian?
Me: Why? (Sensing something is strange with this question)
Man : Just answer me.
Me : Pretending to be malaysian. Yes i am malaysian.
Man: So are you from Penang?
Me: No why?
Man: Doesnt matter where you are from, we are all chinese. Can you 'lend'
me $50?
Me: I got no money to lend you.
Man : Dont lie, I can see your wallet in your pockets. (as i always put
my wallet in my front pocket whenever i go overseas.)
He then reached to his back pocket and took out a small fruit knife and pointed the knife next to my tummy. Shit at that instant i knew it was daylight robbery at macdonalds. I was in shocked and i looked at him again. I was trapped as I am cornered (i am am sitting next to a wall) and the only route to escape is the seat which was occupied by him now.
Man: Dont force me. I am really desparate now Dont force me. I am not
asking a lot from you only $50.
Me: $ 50 only?
Man : yes.
Fearing for my own safety, i took out my wallet and gave him $50. However he wasnt pleased with the $50 and asked another $5 ringgit to make a phone call back home from me, I thought to myself, what the fuck since kena robbed $50 liao what is another $5? So I gave him another $ 5. He took the money happily and 'thanked' me before walking off. I tried to chase him but he quickly walked to the exit next to the macdonalds and make a quick run. I decide not to chase him further when he left city square as i am worried about my own safety and also i was already in a state of shock and do not really know how to react. What pissed me off is at the macdonalds, there was a malay family with kids was sitting next to me and a staff who was cleaning had possibly seen the whole incident and yet nobody is willing to help me. After a short while i called my colleague and told him what happen and cancel our planned trip and headed back to Singapore.I did not make an police report as i think it is too troublesome to do so.
This will be the last time that i will ever go to malaysia alone again. I dont think it is safe even at broad daylight anywhere in JB.
On the way back i was really feeling very down as I was looking forward to a great time and instead i had to headed home disappointed with a state of shock and $50 ringitt poorer :(
Description of the man who robbed me.
Height : about 168
Weight: 50+ (very skinny)
Race : chinese
Skin: dark tanned
Hair style: short but a little curly.
He look like a drug addict, wearing T-shirts and jeans. He hid his little knife in newspaper wrapping at his back pocket.

Thanks for your concern. I thought of that too. I was thinking in the whole incident i am lucky as i only lost $55. Much more lucky when compare to others who was robbed and suffer severe injuries. What i could not take is it was about 5pm and the whole macdonalds was so crowded and yet he got guts to whip a knife to rob me. nobody offer any help. Just wish to warn bros here to be more careful when traveling alone to JB. Also never sit alone at a corner where you cannot escape if anything happen.

Sorry to read that Bro LevusJovi had such an experience.:(
Normally when I go JB, I will not bring my wallet. Just a small card holder with maximum 2 credit cards. Then I will put maybe about RM30 inside and put the rest of my money in my front pockets. If with my CO, then I will insist that she carries a front sling bag for passports and extra cash.:)

hehe this was exactly what happened to my brother and friend b4 at the same venue too. That happened about a year ago. But he asking 20 ringits..now he upped his price..lol..
Bro going there must be extra alert...no place is safe in JB. Car also can be stolen in their police premises leh..
Theres once i was having my Macdonalds at holiday plaza with 1 friend..Then suddenly theres this chinese guy sit next table to us looking at us suspiciously(he does not have any food or drink). We immediately take our burgers and leave. Better be safe then sorry.
Oh ya another place bros have to beware and be extra extra alert..is the money changer near the custom. My cousin got robbed there. Immediately after my cousin change the money a guy snatch the money away and hopped to a bike waiting for him by the road. Careful at the surrounding there..dont count the money while u walking away..stay at the counter to count.

Firstly, LevusJovi, sorry to hear about your unfortunate incident.
Having lived in Singapore and now back in Malaysia I see the difference. When in Singapore one doesn't need to worry about all this sort of things. But in Malaysia, I find that one has to be more alert and cautious.
Another thing that I picked up, sometimes you need to walk around as you owned the whole damn place (not that I am lan si lan yeong). It is to intimidate these opportunist robbers who think they can take you on
When I get approached by strangers who I sense are up to no good, I try to look damn tu lan or beh song like...what the fuck do you want (get what I mean?).
But of course when faced with a knife pointed at me, got to surrender lor. :(
It's only money, safety first.
Almost got mugged in the backstreets of Jalan TAR some time back. Luckily nothing happened. Thank my lucky stars.

And also be careful when using the toliet in City Square. A malay friend of mine (Singaporean) told me that he was robbed in the toliet a month ago. The guy who rob him is with a group of friends.
He got his wallet robbed. And it's contain his IC, driving licenese, credit card and RM$250.
So next time go to toliet, make sure no suspecious people follow you.
Somehow i got the feeling that these type of robbery will be getting more n more common. Becos the malaysia police had increase their petrol on the road so the robbers have no choice but divert their targets in Shopping centres.....
Well, for me i had choose to travel further down to shop.

FREN,
its true that the desperate man is a drug addict. I often see, behind those back lanes along City square... many druggies holding onto plastic bags and smell from inside the plastic bags.
Tell u the truth, i kena once before in City square when i was waiting for my fren alone outside city square and seated in Starbuck. Mind you, a place where there are many people.
This frail looking man suddenly sat beside me and asked me silly questions like :" you look like my friend.."
i said i dont know him..
he then said i looked like someone who had bashed his fren up in taman sentosa and produced a fruit knife to my belly asking me to give him RM 20 for food.
i told him i am waiting for my fren and we dont hang around city square but skudai and do give us some face. he said since we are both black people, all the more i should help him.
i advised him not to take any more drugs, although i know that is plain useless because those jokers who take drugs are hopeless due to the addiction.
while talking crap to him, I produced a penknife double fast from my shirt pocket ( i always have two penknives with me in jb and an pepper spray )
within a fraction of a second, I elbowed him and got up from my seat to avoid him slashing me.
I then slashed him right on the face once and he scampered off bleeding.
I could have chased him, being a top runner and fighter and armed somemore and whack the hell out of him but i let him go.
JB is a hopeless place, really. its useful if u wanna do business in the black market. very useful and perfect place. i would advise normal singaporeans without any links or businesses to do to stay away from malaysia altogether. I am a seasoned man up north and yet i do feel a bit uneasy when i am up north.

Very agree on this. I walk with a swagger in Johor but not letting people know that i am a singaporean.
Without a penknife or spray, i will never appear in any places in jb. dont look like a blur fuck shopper while u are in city square. always be ready to whack and slash. this is my advice to those singaporeans who still insist on going city square.
Everyday, at least 50 criminal cases happen just inside ccity square and periperal places. this is a true statistics derived from my Chinese police fren up north. he himself is armed with gun whenever he wanna walk in city square. if not he wont walk.

you have very good advice here ... if meeting frens, just DRIVE all the way straight to your fren house.
as a seasoned man in johor and armed myself, I dont even bother to walk along the city square area alone.
there are robberies even inside carparks, lifts, stairways, toilets and its like everyday there will be 50 cases at least..
how to go ? those robbers see u alone they wanna makan u.. they see u with a girl, lagi best

There is a type of underwear which has a zip pocket in front where you can keep your money in it.
I remember when i was a student and was working part time in the airport, an old ang mo lady who bought some items from me did not have enough money to pay. I was shocked when she start to unbutton and unzip her pants in front of me and i saw her underwear had a zip pocket infront where she keep her money inside.

Ok...so we have advice on carrying arms, big, small...including yours to protect yourself against the JB bandits
then there are those with Malaysian-registered cars as another safety trick
Let DirtyHairy share with you one more on "how to screw those robbers of JB"
Besides my advice on having magazine-wrapped around body under shirt/in vest trick if kenna stabbed to prevent injury,
why not have lots of lowest value Indon rupiahs at the ready....
just give in when the robber demand your money...
sumtimes me oso make fotocopies of local currencies
but make sure you no use them here but to surrender only

U will have a problem with the law if ur photocopies of RM is found by local police...and I do mean loads of problem unless u have a SPECIMEN chopped/indicated on it. Its a Criminal Offence to be caught in possession.
It is really NOT advisable to do this.

Better be careful about carrying penknives on your body ...... if the Malaysian Police stop you and do a 100% body-check and find that you are carrying a penknive (somemore two penknives) they will charge you with ' possession of a dangerous weapon ' ........ but don't worry you can always pay them some $$$ ( ' duit kopi ' ) for them to 'close one eye' on this 'small matter'

Over the past 20+ years Singaporeans had been calling on their fellow Singaporeans to 'boycott' / 'avoid going to Malaysia' but looks like NOBODY is obeying this 'order' / 'instruction' as day in day out thousands and thousands cross over to Malaysia by bus/car/taxi/train/ferry/plane/foot .....
Why ???
Because of the cheonging places, makan places, holiday resorts, Genting Highlands, favourable currency exchange rates, etc, etc, etc, ........ To the Singaporeans EVERTHING is 'cheap' in Malaysia
2007 is ' VISIT MALAYSIA YEAR ' and also Malaysia is celebrating its 50th year of Indepedence

Wow so many garang bros here!!
Maybe I'm just a kiasee singaporean, but if a guy with a knife comes up to me and ask for $50. I think I will give it to him. These drug addicts will anything for drug money. If you put up a fight, what if you get cutted, stabbed or worst some permanent injury. I don't want to have a scar on my face or something like that for the rest of my life because I don't want to lose $50.
Of course we must do whatever we can and not get ourselves into this kind of situation, if it does happen. Just consider yourself to be sway, need to "lost fortune to make trouble go away"
Of course if you are like jackie chan, 1 guy can fight 10 guys then I guess the robber is sway to pick you. :p

Not to say boast or what but Malaysians experience or see this kind of thing from an early age.
When we were young, there would be gangs trying to recruit or extort money from us outside school. We go lepak in shopping complex and encounter gangs from other schools.
We learn to see trouble coming and we run.
If cornered we act deaf and dumb. :p [Wah, it sort of rhymes.]
These are street smarts we picked up along the way.
But it can only help us that much as we are not always that lucky.

Precautions when going to JB.
1. Always travel in a group, even to toilet.
2. Change your msia ringgits in spore, despite the lower rate.
3. If possible, arrange msia friends to pick u up at the custom, thus avoid the town areas.
4. Avoid going to City Plaza or Holiday Plaza, anyways the stuff there are not exactly cheap.
5. Avoid speaking to strangers, best avoid english all together. Dialects would be best.
6. Try to speak with a msia accent when speaking in mandarin.
7. Avoid taking out wallet everytime u want to buy something. Keep small change in pocket for easy access.
8. Avoid using high tech HP, use basic phone in JB.
9. Avoid using MP3 or highpod players when in JB, from wat i saw on JB street, not many use them in public.
10. Lastly, NEVER BRING GF OR OC THERE FOR WINDOW SHOPPING.

there is a few incident i met in jb.in the past while i'm waiting for my friend alone a skinny guy come over and poke a knife behind my back and i was fast enough to turn ard and punch him on his face and whack him at that time maybe bcos young and ignorant, then there was alos one time with my wife, this time two of them coming to my car, when i saw them from side mirror i ask my wife to close the door quickly but too bad she is slow(one on her side while the other on my side)then the on my side told me they are from penang and they are broke and they need 'bus fare' so at that time lan lan cos my wife the other side also got a fellow then give them 50 riggit
KNN they request another 50 riggit,i stood up in front of the man and ask the other to leave my wife alone nut they didnt oblige so in the end i obliged and give them another 50 riggit.another incident is,when i'm in the q at malaysia custom(after caltex station) n there is heavy jam,so wind down window and smoke.as there some ppl crossing the road and didnt think too much.then this fellow(not those taking a cup wans) come over to me and ask for bus fare again.at that time i told him i dont have any $ with me and he said he had ask for some $(show me) liao and only short 10 riggit for him to buy a ticket.then think 10 riggit ok lah, then pass him 10 riggit and he head to the travel agent straight away.
another incident was "robbed" by uniform robber which is the police.he accussed me dangerous overtakling while i was not.then to save any unwanted troble give 50 coffee $ to the "robber"
although we know jb is dangerous but still lot of s'porean keep going.for those who still going just be careful and stay fxxking alert at all time and try not to hang ard at shoping area.for those who go for petrol like me,just go to two petrol station(shell n caltex) near the cstom as the pump attendant will collect the $ from you(less risk lah) and you just drive back home straight away lor dont try going to makan or what ever lor as to lower the risk.

I had gone to JB with some friends for cheonging and stayed overnight.
Next day still got time to kill before returning to s'pore so went to play snooker at that old building next to city square.
After a while felt hungry so I went to KFC alone to eat while my friends carry on with their game.
While eating my fried chicken.... one guy came and sat beside me and asked for $$$.
He had rolled up newspaper tucked in his waist and I could see a handle from the opening so I agar agar he was carrying weapon.
I took out 50 ringgit but didn't give to him.... instead I placed the $$$ on the table infront of me.
As he strectched out his hand to take the $$$.... I plunged my fork into the back of his palm with force.... that motherfucker screamed as the fork pierced through his palm..... I followed up with a kick to his groin and another into his chest.
He went sprawling across the floor.
He was still lying on the floor when the mat police arrived...... they recovered knife with a 6 inch blade inside the rolled up newspaper.

I believe that corruption could be one of the reason why crime rate is high in JB. For example, maybe if you are caught for a minor offence like robbery, you may be able to offer some cash to the police and get scot free.

KAJANG: A Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman student was raped and murdered in her rented house at 9th Mile Cheras here yesterday.
The body of the 20-year-old woman, identified as Tang Lai Meng from Taman Wang, Menglembu in Ipoh, Perak, was found half naked in her bedroom by policemen responding to a call by her neighbour.
The neighbour, in his 50s, said he was strolling along the back alley of the double-storey terrace house in Jalan Putera 4/1, Bandar Mahkota, about 11am yesterday when he suspected that there could be a break-in.
"The bottom part of the door grille was prised open and several window panes were removed from their slot. The window grille was also prised opened," he said.
As his house was burgled several weeks ago, he decided to call the police to check.
"When the patrol car arrived, the policemen found the front gate and door were unlocked, so they entered the house to check and found her body," said the man.
Kajang police chief ACP Rosli Mohd Nizam said the woman was found lying sideways on a bed in the master bedroom on the top floor.
"Her hands were tied at the back and she was only wearing a T-shirt. We also found a pillow case around her neck."
Rosli said initial investigation showed that Lai Meng was raped and sodomised. It is believed that she was later strangled to death with the pillow case.
He said there were no signs of a struggle in the room and the front door lock was not broken.
Rosli said police found Lai Meng’s UTAR student card in the same room. It stated that she was a second-year Bachelor in Business Studies (Business Administration) student at the university’s Bandar Sungai Long campus.
Rosli said police believed there was more than one person involved in the murder and they had lifted several fingerprints from inside the house.
The body was taken to the Serdang Hospital for a post-mortem.
Another neighbour, M. Meena, 44, said Lai Meng had just moved into the house about three months ago along with a couple.
The housewife said the last time she saw the victim was at 7pm on Wednesday when she returned home in a Toyota Vios which was now missing.
"She never left the house after that. That was the last that I saw her."
Meena said the couple who had stayed with her in the house had a Proton Waja, which the police are looking for along with the Toyota Vios.
Meanwhile, the father of the deceased, Tang Ah Weng, 46, was stunned when media representatives went to his restaurant in Bandar Baru Menglembu in Ipoh to interview him on the tragic news.
The father was unaware of the incident and, on the suggestion of oneof the journalists, made several calls to friends and relatives to inquire on the fate of his daughter.
Tang went to the Menglembu police station about 3pm to make an inquiry but failed to get any information.
"A policeman came to my shop at 3.45pm and told us there was a murder case in Sungai Long but police could not identify the deceased as there were no identification papers."
One of his relatives then called the Kajang police station and was told the bad news. The relative later informed the distraught father.
"I last met my daughter on July 22 when she came home to collect her examination results from Kolej Tunku Abdul Rahman in Kampar."
Lai Meng had completed a diploma course in business administration in Kampar, before she continued her degree studies in UTAR.
Tang described his daughter as an independent person who managed to find her own accommodation in Sungai Long after she was offered a place in UTAR.
Lai Meng enrolled in UTAR on May 28. She has an elder sister and a younger brother. The younger brother helps their parents in the restaurant.

12yr-old among 6 youths arrested for gang-rape
JOHOR BARU : A 12-year-old school dropout was among six teenagers detained for allegedly abducting and gang-raping a factory worker here.
He and the five other suspects, aged 16 to 19, were picked up in a series of raids soon after the incident occurred at about 11.40pm on Friday.
The 30-year-old victim and a 24-year-old female friend were riding home on a scooter in Taman Nusa Damai, Pasir Gudang Friday night, when a lorry is believed to have overtaken them before forcing their off the road.
The suspects grabbed the victim when she fell off the scooter, bundled her into their lorry and drove off, leaving her friend behind.
The victim was later brought to a secluded area in Pasir Gudang before being gang raped.
The victim’s friend managed to alert the Sri Alam police.
A police task force was immediately set up headed by Sri Alam CID Chief Deputy Supt Mohd Nor Rasid and officers from the state police headquarters.
Combing the surrounding housing estates, they managed to locate the lorry in Taman Nusa Damai and rescued the woman eight hours after her abduction.
However upon seeing the police car, the suspects managed to flee.
Police rushed the victim to the hospital and started their hunt for the suspects, who were picked up in a series of raids around Kota Masai.
State acting police chief Senior Asst Comm I Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said the suspects would be remanded on Sunday.
He said they were being investigated under Sections 376 and 365 of the Penal Code for rape and abduction.

Tough question and can only HOPE that things will get better which I doubt. In my own opinion, my conclusion is that crimes (petty to violent) occurred because criminals are embolden when their crimes goes undetected; giving them further courage to continue, even graduating from petty to violent crimes over time.
To be fair, crimes are committed everywhere. If you are unfortunate to be a victim, it's best to think first how to get out of it alive - and if it is only money that's lost, don't fight with your only 1 life. My 2 cents.

Report from The STAR dated Sunday 5 August 2007 :-
‘Untouchable’ crime kingpin arrested in Johor Baru
JOHOR BARU : A powerful crime lord, involved in organised underworld activities including vice and gaming, was detained here several days ago.
The 55-year-old suspect, previously regarded as an “untouchable,” was arrested by a special team of officers from Bukit Aman under the Anti-Money Laundering Act.
The suspect, who is also widely mentioned in a blog, has since been taken to an undisclosed location in the country to assist in investigations.
It is learnt that the crime lord, described as the head of one of the most powerful syndicates in the country, was arrested under a directive from the Internal Security Ministry.
He was picked up by the team from the commercial crime unit at an undisclosed location here.
Federal commercial crimes director Comm Datuk Ramli Yusuf confirmed the arrest of an underworld figure for money laundering under the Restricted Residence Act.
He declined to elaborate further.
It is learnt that the suspect is being detained under a 60-day detention order, which can be extended up to two to three years through a directive from the Internal Security Minister.
It is learnt that several police reports have also been lodged by family members alleging the arrest was unlawful.
This is the second major arrest in the state involving crime syndicates.
Last month seven suspected Malaysian gang leaders with links to the Singapore underworld, allegedly involved in vice and gaming activities here and across the Causeway, were arrested.
All of them were arrested with the assistance of the Singapore police.
However, one of the seven has since been released.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan recently said that police had identified seven gang leaders who had been terrorising the state with the help of influential people.
He said police were gathering intelligence to either take action against these leaders under preventive laws or to charge them in court.

Went 'Shun De Bak Kut Teh' in 'Da Ma Hua Yuan' around 1300hrs for lunch with a friend. As there no parking lot opposite the coffeeshop, decide to park @ the open area beside the muslim coffeeshop near the canal.
Finish around 1400hrs and walk back to my car. I had a bad habit to unlock my car from distance, thus I already open my door while I am 20meter away from my car. A short, stout chinese man around age of late 30s rush out from the alley. (Initially my friend and I thought he is an OKT looking for customer to patronize LSB but realize he not later as I am in JB instead of KL and he stop me from getting into my car). Anyway, my friend at this time already went in to the car by the passenger side. Same old story again, tell me he come from Penang and I have parked my car in his terrority before saying he need money to take bus home. Talk to him for 1 minute before my friend realise something is not right. I don't want to make an ugly scene, so give him RM2 and told him take it as a parking fee which is standardize when someone usher you to a parking lot in Malaysia. He is least satisfy and ask for more. My blur friend who already sense something wrong now is standing behind him with a Swiss knife (I keep 2 inside my car, 1 on the passenger side while the other on driver's and most my friend knew it) in his hand. Told him to take from my friend if he wants more money. And guess what, the asshole tell us that he is a HIV carrier, show us numerous needle marks on his arm and dare as to attack him if we are not scare of his blood. LL don't want to take the risk so tell him I will give him another RM1 and so be it if he want to spoil a fight. He took it and walk back into the alley quoting that we are lucky as he is not in the mood to play punk etc...
Moral of the incident is, never unlock you car until you are beside the door. I have been traveling to JB/ KL at least 1 time per weeks for the pass 5 years and yet still kena these kind of shit even when I consider myself very alert while walking along the street. I am lucky to make off with RM3 but come to think of it, even he request a large amount i will also pay because it not worth fight with these kind of people. It not a matter of winning or losing the fight but god know if he is really an HIV infect and I seriously do not wish to get in contact with his blood if a fight really break out.

Report from The STAR dated Tuesday 7 August 2007 :-
Crime rate in Johor decreases
JOHOR BARU : There has been a decrease in the number of crimes in Johor state during the the first six months of this year (2007) compared to January-June of last year (2006).
Acting state police chief Senior Asst Comm I Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said that a total of 15,646 cases were reported this year.
This was a decrease of 1,276 cases or 7.54% compared to the 16,922 cases from January until June last year, he said.
"We are working harder to bring it down even further," he said.
He was speaking after launching the state-level Community Policing and appointing 11 officers from each district who would be the coordinators here on Tuesday.
SAC I Mohd Mokhtar said the 'police-solving rate' has also increased from 40.83% last year to 43.34% this year.
"The crime rate is down due to continuous crime prevention operations and raids against criminal elements in the state.
"We are also thankful to the cooperation from the public to combat crime," he said.
The best weapon to combat crime was strong cooperation between the public and police, he added.
SAC I Mohd Mokhtar said police were also cleaning up red-light districts in the city such as Jalan Wong Ah Fook and Jalan Dobi.
"In a recent raid, we nabbed 13 women including foreigners at various cheap hotels in Jalan Wong Ah Fook.
"They are suspected of prostitution and we will intensify our efforts to clean up such places," he said.
He added that police were also working with local authorities such as the Johor Baru City Council (MBJB) for this.

Report from The New Straits Times dated Wednesday 8 August 2007 :-
Johor crime rate down but rape cases up
JOHOR BARU : Although crime in the state generally fell over the first six months of the year, there was an increase in rape cases.
There were 83 cases since January compared with 57 cases in the corresponding period last year.
Police said there was a 7.54 per cent drop in the crime index between January and June this year with 15,646 cases of crime reported (16,922 last year).
There were fewer murders, snatch thefts and break-ins but as in rape cases, there has been a hike in extortions and gang fights.
The police have increased their solving rate to 43.34 per cent from 40.83 per cent last year.
Meanwhile, to regain public confidence, the police have set up the Community Policing Unit to build rapport between the cops and residents, said deputy state police chief Datuk Mohamad Mokhtar Mohamad Shariff.
The unit is the brainchild of Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan.
"All 11 district headquarters in Johor will have a Community Policing Unit and an officer in charge and officers will have to do an area study and get to know the people in the area.
"Under the Community Policing programme, every district will be divided into a zone and sector and an officer will be stationed there.
"He will also know how many street lights there are in the area and how many are required."
Mohktar said the officer will give his contact number to ensure that he can be contacted by the residents.

Report from The New Straits Times dated Thursday 9 August 2007 :-
Johor Baru gets 431 extra cops on the beat
JOHOR BARU : The first batch of additional policemen hit the streets here last month with the key task of fighting crime and building better rapport with the public.
The 431 personnel are from the General Operations Force and the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU).
Johor deputy chief police officer Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said this after a closed-door meeting with his men yesterday.
"They have been split into four groups so that there will be round-the-clock patrols," Mokhtar said.
"They will be rotated every two weeks to ensure the men are mentally and physically fit. There will also be dialogue sessions with them so that they can tell us what more needs to be done."
The 431 policemen have been conducting patrols here since late June but only on a temporary basis.
This time around, they will be here on a permanent basis.
They will concentrate their efforts in Johor Baru South and North districts, said to be crime-prone areas.
Special attention will also be given to Jalan Wong Ah Fook, Jalan Tun Razak and Jalan Dhoby, which are known for drugs and prostitution.
"This clean-up operations will include other enforcement agencies."
The public will also be roped in under the community policing programme to tip off police on suspicious activities in their areas.
Mokhtar said state police would receive another 306 personnel this month and they would be stationed in the two new police districts of Seri Alam and Nusajaya.

You are absolutely correct in regards to the motivational forces behind committing a rape. In Bosnia [Serbian troops on Bosnian women]and during the fall of Berlin in 1945 [Soviet troops on German women], rape was systematically used to inflict "shame" to those who were "conquered"

As a part-time Counsellor to prisoners I often ask convicted rapists why they go on raping women/young girls instead of robbing people and then use the money to pay for prostitutes to 'satisfy' themselves
ALL of them tell me that :-
1. the joy & 'shiokness' from raping and paying for sex with prostitutes is not the same
2. Normally prostitutes 'service' at least 5 to 10 customers (if not more) per day, i.e. at least 125 to 250 customers per month. Hence their 'holes' would not be 'tight' compared to the 'normal' women/young girls that they rape

Report from The STAR dated Saturday 11 August 2007 :-
Johor crime lord under restricted residence
KUALA LUMPUR : A crime lord from Johor has been placed under restricted residence in Jeli, Kelantan.
This came to light yesterday following his lawyer’s withdrawal of a habeas corpus application seeking his release from the Sungai Buloh Prison, where he has been held since his arrest on Aug 1.
The 55-year-old man, described as the head of one of the most powerful syndicates in the country and once regarded as “untouchable”, had been arrested by a special team of officers from Bukit Aman’s commercial crime department over his alleged involvement in illegal lottery activities in the Johor Baru district since March 2005.
The man’s lawyer N. Sivananthan, who filed the habeas corpus application on Aug 3 at a High Court here, withdrew it yesterday saying that his client has been placed under restricted residence since Wednesday.
As such, the lawyer said he would be making a fresh civil application to declare his client’s detention under the Restricted Residence Act as unlawful.
Judicial Commissioner Abdul Alim Abdullah allowed the withdrawal.
Outside the courtroom, Sivananthan said he would file the application against the three-year restriction order at the High Court in Kota Baru.

He went sprawling across the floor.

People worry about rising crime rate, says OKT ( MCA President )
KUALA LUMPUR : Malaysians are alarmed over the rising number of crime cases in the country and the Government needs to do more including imposing harsher punishment, said MCA president Datuk Seri Ong Ka Ting.
He said the situation also affected the country’s image in the eyes of foreign investors and tourists.
“The rising crime rate is a hot issue among the people. Cases such as murder, rape, robbery and snatch theft continue to hog the headlines in the media,” he said in his opening speech at the 54th MCA annual general assembly here yesterday.
He said most of the criminals were drug addicts, the unemployed, illegal immigrants, members of secret societies, and those facing dire financial problems because of outstanding loans.
“The MCA takes a serious view on crime because parents and members of the public are constantly worried for their own safety and that of their children when they leave home for work or school,” he said.
Ong noted that the Government and police had come out with programmes to fight crime including increasing the number of police personnel by 60,000, providing 2,000 more patrol cars and sending more rank and file officers to patrol crime-prone areas.
“These are the right steps and most welcomed by the people,” he said.

RM1.5m for new CCTV cameras for Johor Bahru
JOHOR BARU : The city council will spend RM1.5mil to install 12 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras around the city’s central business district.

“This new batch of CCTVs will supplement the existing 18 cameras already installed.
“We have spent about RM2mil to equip the city with the cameras,” he said at a press conference.
Mohd Naim also said that two new police beat bases would be built in Jalan Meldrum and Legaran Seget.
“We also have a new 24-hour hotline for the public to call for any complaints.

He said the city council would make sure that more streetlights were put up in certain areas to deter crime.
Acting state police chief Senior Asst Comm I Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said 49 probationary inspectors would be sent out to perform beat duty.

CCTVs installed to improve security in Permas Jaya. Johor Bahru
JOHOR BARU : Three closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been installed at strategic locations in Permas Jaya to improve security in the area.
Pasir Gudang MP Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said installing the CCTVs did not indicate the area was crime-prone.
He said the move was to ensure more security for the people there.
“The people have high expectations of us. As leaders, we have to work hard to give more facilities to the people,” he said at the launch of the CCTVs during a community programme in Permas Jaya on Saturday.
Mohamed Khaled hoped the community would give their full support to the local council and police to make the place a more comfortable and safer place.
Johor Baru city council mayor Datuk Mohd Naim Nasir said it was the council's responsibility to provide the best service to the people.
He added the council regularly conducted checks on restaurants to make sure they were clean.

Report from The STAR dated Thursday 23 August 2007 :-
Hi-tech police van to start patrols in JB soon
JOHOR BARU : The first hi-tech police patrol vehicle is expected to start cruising the city soon.
The mobile patrol vehicle is installed with advanced devices and linked to the 30 closed circuit television (CCTV) units set up in strategic locations.
Johor Baru mayor Datuk Mohd Naim Nasir said the patrol van, manned by police personnel, was like a mobile operations centre.
He said the patrol team would be able to monitor situations on the streets wherever it is.
“If this works, the idea and system may be used in the whole Iskandar Development Region.
“We will do whatever we can to ensure the safety of everyone in Johor Baru,'' he said.
Mohd Naim said the project, a joint operation between City Hall and the police, was part of plans to build a smart, safe and comfortable city to live in and work.
Also planned is the setting up of an additional 12 CCTVs and four nomadic cameras for the patrol vehicle.
Locations for the CCTVs include Jalan Tebrau, Komtar building, City Square and Holiday Plaza.
Currently, 18 CCTVs are installed in areas under City Hall jurisdiction.
Mohd Naim said the RM1.5mil project is expected to be completed within this year.
“We hope to have 69 CCTVs by 2010,'' he said while leading reporters on a tour of the operations centre at Menara Tabung Haji here yesterday.
The mayor also showed reporters a video clip captured by a CCTV of a man and his friends destroying a pedestrian barricade in the town centre.
He said the group was later arrested by police.
Mohd Naim said the first three CCTVs were set up in 2001 to monitor and control traffic flows along Jalan Tebrau, a main access road into the city.
Johor deputy police chief Senior Asst Comm (I) Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Sharif said the existing 18 CCTVs have proven to be effective in checking crime.

Report from The STAR dated Friday 24 August 2007 :-
Charred body found in burnt car
PONTIAN, Johor : The charred remains of a woman who was found in the trunk of a burnt Proton Wira on Wednesday is believed to be the 44-year-old sister of the car's owner.
Pontian deputy OCPD Supt Muzamil Hashim said police tracked the car's registration number and went to the owner's home in Taman Ungku Tun Aminah on Thursday.
"We discovered the owner was alive and working in Singapore.
"However, we were told by the owner's mother that the sister had taken the car out at 10pm on Wednesday night and had not returned," he said, adding that the sister worked as a wedding planner.
However, DSP Muzamil said police could not be certain until the post-mortem result was obtained and DNA samples were compared.
"Initial investigations did not reveal that the victim was murdered at the location or elsewhere.
"We have no suspects as of yet," he said when contacted here Friday.
On Wednesday, the charred remains of a woman was found in the trunk of the burnt car.
The body and the car were discovered at about 4.30pm at an oil palm estate in Kuala Kabung here.
Some members of the public discovered the burnt car and quickly alerted the police.
Policemen who arrived on the scene discovered the body in the boot of the car, charred beyond recognition and no identification or personal documents were recovered.

Report from The STAR dated Saturday 25 August 2007 :-
Cops hunt for duo who robbed Singaporean
JOHOR BARU : Police have formed a task force to hunt down two men who slashed and robbed a Singaporean man.
On Wednesday, a man armed with a parang injured the Singaporean at a petrol station and hijacked his car.
The victim and his wife had stopped for petrol near the train station in the city central area at 4.20am.
The wife went to buy some snacks while the husband went to pay for the petrol.
He returned to the car and was about to start the engine when the robber approached him, slashed him in the face and drove off in the car.
Acting state police chief Senior Asst Comm (I) Datuk Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff said Supt Gan Tian Kee would lead the team to hunt down the suspects.
“We believe there are two suspects involved,” he told a press conference yesterday.

In 2day's New Paper, Mr Chan Chang Choy, assistant secretary-general of the JB Chinese Chamber of Commerce, claim that the crimes are committed by gangs of Indonesian illegal immigrants. Mr Chan claims that the JB police told him about this. However no government statement has mentioned before this issue and the JB police could not be contacted to confirm this.
Kekeke....dun tell me the JB police are planning to point fingers at other nationalilities instead of their own people. Dun know when they are going to wake up and realise that they have a very serious problem on their hands.

why blame the crimes on these indonesian criminals? we all know that the malaysian malays and indians and indonesian criminals are responsible for 100% of the car-jacking, murders, rape, gang rapes, robbery, slashing, kidnapping etc.
All these are facts reported in the paper.
The police bodoh, dont go and blame foreigners. If the polis there are good and capable, the criminals want to swim to malaysia also cannot.

I should think that ultimately the focus will be on what actions are taken by the MY government to combat the crime rates. I have read that the government have sent down a task force from KL just to concentrate on the situation in JB and hopefully there will be results.
I would agree that Singaporeans still flock to JB esp during weekends for shopping and entertainment but if the situation worsen, even die-hard JB fans will think twice.
It would be very hard to monitor the MY coastline but maybe the police can actually increase more patrols with the authority to check for identification of anyone they feel is a suspect. With increased checks, illegal immigrants will hesitate to venture freely in public.

So far, there has been very little news on chinese criminals going around raping or robbing innocent citizens. News that has filtered to the general public regularly states that the crimes are being committed by other races.
However these opinions are based on what we read in the newspaper. In the recent case where the Singaporean was slashed with a parang before his car was stolen, there was no indication of what nationality committed the offence. Chinese related criminal activities have also recently been hit very hard by the MY government and when people are desperate, they do desperate things, regardless of race.

Well, the China govt has been known to send them straight back to North Korea.
And when was the last time the Malaysian Govt prosecuted a leading member of Umno, or its BN component parties for corruption and shot the guy ?
Dun compare China la. They investigate and sack and punish more than a few thousand of their communist party members every year.
The problem in Malaysia is the Govt, but indirectly. Their policy of spoon feeding their own people have left them lazy to do anything other than earn easy money. So its easy for crime organisations to buy their influence. Chinese criminals are smarter as they know that the Govt would love nothing more that create lots of publicity by nailing Chinese Criminals.
So while its not impossible to find petty crimes committed by Chinese, its highly improbable.
When was the last time a Chinese got arrested for Raping their own kids ? Or for rape in general ? Or breaking and entering to steal a hundred bucks ??? The statistics by Race are never made available in public has it ?

I think this has gone beyond what was the original intention of this thread. I don't see any point in debating in here the social problems (and the possible causes) in Malaysia. It has been debated till no end in more appropriate forums such as soc.culture.malaysia.
Orgasmic by only limiting criminals that commit carjackings, robberies and rapes to Malays and Indians while disregarding Chinese criminals is doing racial profiling. While the latter may make up only a small number of the criminals out there, it would be a big mistake to use such racial profiling when you are in Malaysia.
You want to let your guard down just because those approaching/confronting you are Chinese, go ahead. Ask any Malaysian and see if they do likewise. :)

I support your view-point, it is an alarming trend these days amongst Chinese employers that are reluctant to hire local Malays and Indians [if they have a choice], well it is a trend and whether it is part of a lame excuse in employing cheap labour, it is not well researched, but....racial profiling has taken hold and has taken its toll. Thus, those who are jobless [and comparatively with larger family to feed] will be desparate enough to commit crime. As I have pointed out earlier, "rape" could be an outward demonstartion of an internal hatred against a certain race.
Anyway we can't compare malaysia with China, as China has its own "very stringent" laws, they even execute those who had neglected thier duties as a public servant [so to say, if Malaysia were to adopt such laws, well, many from the public sector will be executed for sloppy work ...such as leaking parliament ceiling, falling off ceiling boards...flooding....and the list goes on]

Another example of lawlessness in Malaysia Boleh .............
Report from The STAR dated Tuesday 28 August 2007 :-
Indian gang goes on rampage again
SHAH ALAM : A gang of Indian youths went on a rampage in Section 20 on Sunday barely two weeks of a similar incident in Section 17.
This time the group attacked two houses, damaged two cars at the first home before going to another house just a street away and wrecking another car there.
V. Kaliamma, 46, said she home with her three sons and daughter when the sound of the smashing glass and banging of metal at around 2.30am woke them from their sleep.
“We went to the front door and saw a group of youths hitting the two cars belonging to my sons with parangs, sticks and bricks,” she said, adding that the cars had been parked at the side of the road outside the house.
She said they smashed all the windscreens and windows or the car and there were also cut marks on the body of the car where it was hit with the parang. She said the youths, believed to be in their late teens or early 20s, then climbed over the driveway gate and hit the glass panel of the sliding door and the grille.
“They (the youths) kept asking why we had reported them to the police and I told them that we have never lodged any reports against them as we do not know who they are but they kept on hitting on the grille,” she said.
Kaliamma said although the attack only lasted for about 15mins, the family was scared for their lives and kept away from the sliding door. She said the attack only stopped when the neighbours started to turn on their lights to check what was happening.
Housewife S. Poopathy’s home, located a street away, became the next target for the youths, who started to smash her son’s car that had been parked along the road.
She said the youths not only hit the car but also climbed on its roof and started to jump on it before ripping out the car stereo, speakers and other accessories. Kaliamma said the youths then climbed over the wall and started to hit the inner grille and main door.
“They somehow managed to open the main door but my son and I quickly held the door and forced it shut again. I was afraid that they might enter the house and hurt my children,” she said.
She said the acts made the youths angrier and they then started to break all the glass window panels.
Her son, T. Ganesan, 23, said this was not the first time that a group of youths had damaged his car as some youths had rammed their car into his about a month ago.
“We are lucky that no one was hurt in the incident and my other brother was away so his car was not damaged,” he said.
Shah Alam CID Chief DSP Kamarudin Ismail said police had started investigating the matter after the incident two weeks ago and picked-up several youths in connection with it.
“We look at this matter very serious because people are being terrorised in their homes and we will make another round of arrests to investigate the recent case,” he said.
He said police had identified two Indian gangs that were active in the Section 17 and 20 areas and would act soon to pick up those responsible. He said police were also investigating if the Indian youths were linked to any Indian gangs.

I think u are quite flawed in your argument to blame the Chinese for controlling the economic pie and therefore not giving jobs to the indians or malays.
The indians in Malaysia has not so much of a problem than the Malays.
And I would like to insert a valuable point here that the Malaysia government employs Malays and about 90% of the civil servants are Malays. Therefore, it is not fair to say that the malays will commit crimes because nobody want to employ them.
There are 60% malay in malaysia but 90% in the civil service.
But please see how the civil service cock up.
Custom, Police, armies, putrajaya servants.. toll servants.. pray tell me, which one of them never take bribe?
The problem here is definitely not the Chinese. Look at 13 May 97 in Indonesia, 4000 girls ( all chinese ) were gang-raped and killed. Some as young as 8 year old.
How can an 8 year old girl offend the malays?
And the lame reason by the rapists given was that: Because they were Chinese, therefore, we had to rape and kill them.
Tell me, whose fault and who started it?
Thailand south is a damn peaceful buddhist country who never even joined into World War 2. And because of one particular race in the south, the country is having violent problem.
Whose fault?
While it is easy to always blame other race for your own lack of wealth, i dont think it is fair to blame another race for being poor when u are lazy yourself.
The mud police has stepped up arrest on criminals after the recent spate of broad daylight public abduction, slashing and rape and murder done by the indians and malays.
However, the police choose to target and arrest the Chinese sydicates who are dealing with prostitutions and drugs etc BUT not going after the malays who are the main cause of the social problems such as rape.
The polis really got no brains. When A commits a crime, they arrest B and say that they have done their jobs. Malaysia Bodoh.
From what I see, the question is not whether or not a racial riot will happen in malaysia but a question of WHEN.
If they ( the useless malay government ) can evict their seats and let Lim Kit Siang run the country, Singapore will be another East Timor.

Who is being a racist?
Let me put it this way, when i am in JB ( which i go 200 times a year ), I always stepped up my effort to look around.
No doubt there are chinese criminals and I personally have encountered them before but they just dont go around slashing u and chopping your hands off or raping their wife or daughter seated beside u in your car.
The issue here is: everything can be neg with them. If u encounter the indonesian or malay criminals, they wont neg with u but rape ( gang rape ) your girl and slash your legs to make sure u dont run.
Tell me, what kind of a man would do all these?
And i am really not being racist here but objectively objective. You can see that all my worrries stem from a plethora of real life hard cold facts which has happened in malaysia over the past 200 days.
The problem there is so bad that when lone lady is pumping petrol in the petrol station, they look around here and there and canot even focus on the pump. I have seen for myseelf how bad the situation is.
One of my singapore cilent, a lady was recently with her guy fren car parked along the beach just outsidde the jb custom waiting for friends to join them.
guy went out to smoke. then 3 malay thugs opened the car doors and robbed the poor lady of her valuables.. lucky they dint drive her away and rape her. but as i say, anything can happen. If she had been raped, do u think she will go around telling people that?
in broad daylight and many cars and people around, this kind of incidents can happen.
what is the polis doing? nothing.

Report from The STAR dated Wednesday 29 August 2007 :-
PM: Rumours of racial clashes in Johor are lies
KUALA LUMPUR : Rumours that racial clashes have occurred in Pasir Gudang, Johor, are “lies, lies and nothing more than lies,” said Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
The Prime Minister said the rumours were an attempt to create an uneasy atmosphere, incite anger and tension among the people.
“All these are lies made up by people who have nothing better to do,” he said.
Abdullah, who is the Umno president, said such lies were slanderous and a big sin for Muslims.
“Allah curses people like that but these people can’t be bothered and do it anyway,” he added.
Yesterday and the day before, Johor was abuzz with rumours that racial fights had broken out in Pasir Gudang.
The police, too, had denied the rumours but some people still avoided going to the area.
To a question on people who raised racially sensitive issues, Abdullah said these people did not think about unity and the good of the country.
“They can give their views but just don’t cause chaos among our people and the country,” he said.
Abdullah said action would be taken on those who go overboard and cause tension among the racial groups.
With only three days to go to the 50th Merdeka celebration, the Prime Minister urged Malaysians to fly the flag and display their pride for the country.
“What’s wrong with spending RM2 or RM3 to buy a flag? This is a very important day for us, a day on which we should express our pride and gratitude for what we have achieved and enjoyed for over 50 years,” he said.
“I hope Malaysians will feel proud. There are other countries where there are internal fights and are poverty stricken. We do not experience such situations – perhaps only once on 13 May (1969).
“So show that you love the country and are grateful that the country is progressive, peaceful and safe. If you don’t get flags for free, buy them. If they are sold out, then make your own,” he said.
Abdullah said not everyone got everything that they wanted and acknowledged that there were still parts of the country which were still not so developed, where there were poor people.
He said the Government would continue to do its duty and bring development to these areas.
“We will continue to do what we have done for the past 50 years,” he added.

Just my 2 cents worth. There are also Chinese crime syndicates which I think are far more dangerous than the petty criminals. It appears that the parts of the Police force had been compromised in their dealings with these syndicates which controlled drugs, prostituition , bookmaking etc....
The taikos can operate quite freely with complicit from local authorities. There is little incentives for police to risk their lives going after hardcore criminals for robbery and rapes.
These robbers/rapist (unfortunately mainly Malays, Indos, Indians) will fight it out if cornered and chances of injury or death is there. What for.. for a mergre salary of less than RM1000.
So unless there is a drastic change at the top of the Police, these criminals will roam and terrorise freely. Also there is a political agenda to weaken the Chinese denominated MCA party b4 the next GE. This is what UMNO wanted..go figure for yourselves why would UMNO want to do a partner in.
Sorry to divert attention away from crime in JB but the problem must be tackled at the core and not just treating the symptoms..

Hello Bro Orgasmic,
I was trying to show our brothers here a TREND and not an argument, thus whether the trend is FLAWED or otherwise is best left to one's opinion and evaluation. A trend is an indication of a collection of related and relevant events, fully expressed or otherwise, and it is not an opinion per se. Well, if your conviction is such that you can't accept the trend, then be it, you are equally wise enough to accept or reject the trend, but by doing so it wont contribute much to effect a change in the trend.
Like I have stated before, "RAPE" is a clear mainfestation of a hidden hatred for a certain people, or ethic or even same ethic but of different beliefs and values. So, what you had just mentioned: Raping an 8 year old girl; is clearly out of hatred rather than being offended. Racial profiling is a result of a long term committed opinion of other ethnic groups.
BTW, for your information, Thailand DID involve in the WWII. The Thai army did engage the Japanese in the South following the landing of Jap troops in South Thailand [Yala & Narathiwat] and Kota Bahru. In fact Thaialnd had their navy ship sank off the coast of Songkhla. The Thai army also fought a fruitless war with the Japs in Bangkok, until the Thai government "surrendered" to the Japs in a form of giving the Jap troops a "free passage" through Thailand [With this the Japs could march large armies through Thailand from Indo China which they got it by default when France was overrun by the Germans; able to build the Death Railway]. The Japanese in return of such a favour annexed back to Thailand 3 northern states of Perlis, Kedah and Kelantan which were Siamese vassal states long time ago. In fact the British, upon the surrender of the Japanese, wanted to attack Thailand in retaliation to its "free passage" treaty with the Japanese. Thailand quickly returned the northerns states to British rule.
The southern Thailand situation is what is termed as a "war of secession" [it did not happen when Singapore broke off from Malaysia, but happened in East Pakistan - now Bangladesh] and it was conviently branded as "war between the Buddhists and the Muslims". Maybe it was more effective this way.
Anyway, when it is a matter between your opinion and mine, then let nature takes its course.

nobody wants to sneak into china except, maybe, north koreans. even usa have plenty of illegal immigrants, some even fly all the way in. illegal immigrants only sneak into countries that provide better opportunities than their own.
Fully agreed with your findings. :D

Two police patrol cars came to his aid within minutes after receiving a call from a member of the public.
Policemen in one patrol car went searching for the robbers, who fled in Tan's Toyota Vios bearing number plate JJL 9969, while two other policemen in the other sent him to the hospital.
Tan was treated for cuts on his head and injuries on his hands and body.
At a press conference arranged by Pengkalan Rinting state assemblyman Low Teh Hian Wednesday, Tan said three armed men approached him as he entered his car at the railway station car park at about 10.30pm.

They also took his ring, watch, shoes and his passport.
He said the robbers then forced him into the car boot and demanded for the PIN number of his three ATM cards. Tan said the robbers made several stops along the way to withdraw money from ATM machines.
Tan said after the fourth stop about 45 minutes, he heard one of the robbers say “Transaction cancelled”.
He said he heard the robbers speaking among themselves furiously and that that they had wanted to stab and kill him. . "I was scared but I managed to find my torchlight and prised open the boot,'' he said.
Tan said he later found out that the robbers had withdrawn RM1,300 using two of his ATM cards.

Woman robbed of RM50,000, wages for restaurant workers
KUALA LUMPUR : A 29-year-old clerk was robbed of RM50,000 by four men, one armed with a parang, in front of a restaurant in Bandar Manjalara, Kepong, after she withdrew the cash from a bank.

Burglars break into former IGP Hanif Omar's house
SUBANG JAYA : Burglars broke into the house of former Inspector-General of Police Tun Hanif Omar in USJ 12 here and escaped with a DVD player and a bunch of keys.
No one was harmed during the 6.30am incident.
According to Hanif, the burglar, or burglars, gained entry into his house via the bathroom window that was left unlocked by his maid.
"They entered the karaoke room and took a DVD player as well as a bunch of keys. They fled when my maid tried to enter the room,'' he said.
Hanif said the alarm did not trigger as it had been deactivated due to the renovation work on his house.
Several patrol cars including a K9 unit were seen at his house shortly after the burglary was reported.

hehe this was exactly what happened to my brother and friend b4 at the same venue too.
I personally got robbed at the $ changer near the yong tau foo store directly after jb custom. Was with my gf and happily changing RM at 7pm on a sat evening. I tot that place was quite crowded, so did not keep my RM immediately, instead I counted the notes openly in the public. Before I start to walk off, a chinese guy use his tatooed arm to stop me from leaving and demanded RM50 to take taxi back home as he lost his wallet. I can see behind him is a pillar and 1 guy is waiting. I was with my gf and really freeze at that moment as I am afraid he would snatch my wallet the moment I take out my wallet. Had around RM400 in it with my IC and jezz...
I think my gf sense what I was going to do...36 strategies..the best strategy is to RUNNNNNN....Before he reached for his pocket, ermmz..i do not know what he was trying to dig, I held my gf hand and dash to the main road where there are malaysian police directing the traffic...
Think God was on my side that day, I managed to escaped unhurt and did not loose any $..Just to be on safe side, try Not to change RM in jb... We can change at old woodlands center where rates is better than compared to jb. U can even count openly in woodlands..just make sure they dun trail you from woodland and rob you when u step into jb.
I guess we got to be in defensive mode when abroad. Not just in Malaysia..:)

Losing energy while deploying the 36th Strategy [not all the 36 strategies] i.e. running away; is not considered "being robbed" in the true sense. The energy just got expended [simply put as: "got lost loh"] :D
In the case when you use the services of FL/WL, you are not considered being "robbed" of energy and sperm [apart from small traces, the bulk is being caught by the CD], if shiok-shiok, how to consider as "being robbed" leh?

I agree with you that SGP is as peaceful and safe as Japan. It is interesting to note that even if Mr Lee's SGP had not left Malaysia [SGP did not secede in the true sense] it is still impossible for him to be the PM as Malaysian constitution guarantees a Malay [not bumiputra in the legal sense] as PM.
SGP had been differently governed and developed by the British even after independence in 1957 [maybe the British wanted SGP to be another Hong Kong to be kept as a British Colony]. We started differently and the Malay nationalism was more profound in Malaysia, thus most parts of Malaysia had undergone great changes skewed towards the Malay brand of administration.
Come to think of it, what IF the Japanese had not lost the war.....would Malaya and Singapore [Sho-nan-to] be the way they are now? Will Malaya and Sho-nan-to be as peaceful as Japan. One thing is definite...we will be educated in Japanese

So imaginative! Well, whoever rules a land could mete out atrocities, only in different magnitudes, even Cambodians [Khemer Rouges] had meted out "killing fields" and had decimated Cambodia's population by 2 millions. Even the Kuomintang [chinese Nationalists] who retreated to Taiwan in 1949 had also massacred innocent Taiwanese indigenious people. What about the damage caused to Iraq by US aggressors?
The "fear" tactics deployed by the Jaapanese Imperial Army [especially the Kempetai] was due to the shortage of Japanese soldiers to garrison the vast conquered places. "Fear and terror" had effected submission of those conquered, except a few pockets of resistance. Such terror tactics had also been used by Ghengiz Khan's invading Mongols.
Be sure that Japanese AV movies and soapland outfits will not be banned and we will be drinking more of Sapporo beer [my favourite] than Carlsberg or Tiger [maybe they will call it TORA] :D

Report from The STAR dated Wednesday 12 September 2007 :-
S'porean driver has close call in catapult attack
JOHOR BARU : He was driving to pick his son when his car was “shot at” in Jalan Wong Ah Fook.
Uthaya Jothi, 57, said his wife saw someone in a dark-green Perodua Kancil car holding a catapult after something smashed through his car’s passenger-side window in the 1.30pm incident on Sunday.
“Everything happened very fast as we were making a turn. Initially we thought a stone from a lorry had hit the window,” he told The Star here.
Uthaya, a manager with Singapore’s mass rapid transit system, said he and his wife realised that they were “shot at” after finding a marble in his Singapore-registered car.
“Luckily the marble missed my wife’s neck by inches as she had turned to talk to me,” he said, adding that some glass splinters hit them.
Uthaya said he tried to chase the Kancil but lost it in the lunch traffic.
“I believe this is the work of mischievous people as I have not had any problems since being in Johor for the past 40 years,” he said, adding that he was unable to get the car's registration number.

Shoppers nab three teenage muggers in JB
JOHOR BARU : Members of the public overpowered three teenage muggers who tried to rob three other teenagers in a shopping mall here and handed them over to the police.
Acting Johor Baru (South) OCPD Supt Zainal Baharom said the robbers, all 15, were armed with knives and had approached the three 14-year-olds at a shopping mall here at 4.30pm on Thursday.
He said the robbers forced the victims to hand over three mobile phones and cash.
“One of the victims’ father saw the commotion and shouted for help. The father and a group of shoppers then converged on the suspects and disarmed them,” he said, adding that the stolen items were recovered and the suspects, all students, were handed over to the police.
Supt Zainal said no one was hurt in the incident.
“We are grateful for the public assistance and we hope for more co-operation in the future.”

Report from The New Straits Times dated Monday 17 September 2007 :-
Johor records 21pc jump in tourist arrivals
JOHOR BARU : Tourist arrivals in Johor for the past six months charted a 21 per cent rise.
This figure is expected to increase with the introduction of budget flights from the city to Jakarta and Palembang.
State Tourism and Environment Committee chairman Freddie Long said Johor received 12.3 million visitors in the past six months. The state only received 9.6 million during the corresponding period last year.
Arrivals from Singapore are also up to 70,000 per day, a sign that visitors from the island republic are returning to Johor and Malaysia despite perceptions of the state being riddled with crime.
Long said he was hopeful the number of visitors to Johor would go up as efforts to turn the Senai Airport into a low-cost carrier hub gained momentum.
Late last month, AirAsia launched its Macau-Johor Baru route and the budget airline is introducing flights to Jakarta and Palembang next month.
"The load factor for these flights (from Macau and China) is quite high, at times 65 per cent, and we can see tourism in Johor being given a boost when the Jakarta and Palembang flights take off," said Long.

He hid his little knife in newspaper wrapping at his back pocket.
ah, this is normal. you get mugged anywhere. New york, LA, paris, whats the diff. Be alert. Nobody will saunter over and sit next to you. As soon as someone come near to sit just stand up quickly and talk loudly.. "hello, who u? can i help u?" etc. i kenna attempted mugging a few time oradi in KL and JB. they approach me in the street and say " u ! don't run! wait!" of course i quickly turn and split lor.

1) don't sit in secluded corners.
2) wallet & money should not be too visible. Take out unnecessary papers and put inside front jeans pocket.

Thieves on bikes snatch retired JB teacher's life
JOHOR BARU : A 66-year-old retired teacher was killed after being hit on the head by snatch thieves in Century Garden here on Sunday.
The victim was Elizabeth Chew Gaik Im.
Her friend, Michael Towle, 66, who was walking ahead of her after mass for breakfast in Jalan Harimau, was shocked when he turned around to find Chew lying motionless on the ground.
She was bleeding on the head and her handbag was missing.
“I heard the roar of a motorcycle engine but I didn't think anything of it,” he said.
In the 8.50am incident, Towle said he was about 10 metres in front of Chew when she was hit.
“With the help of a passer-by, we rushed Chew, who was unconscious, to the hospital, where she underwent an operation. However, she died at 5pm.”
The cause of death was blockage of an artery by a blood clot, said Towle, a retired businessman, at the Sacred Heart Church in Taman Sri Tebrau, where the funeral was held yesterday.
Rela volunteer Allan Tham, 42, claimed that he saw four men on two motorcycles on a snatch theft spree in the same area where Chew was attacked.
“The thieves had snatched a woman's handbag near a budget hotel near the Holiday Plaza shopping centre as I was getting into my car.
“I followed them, hoping to block their route, but as the traffic was heavy, I could not get close to them.
“They also snatched another woman's handbag about 250 metres from the first victim.
“Then, they got to their third victim. I saw an elderly woman on the ground. I was very frustrated and angry.”
However, luck was not with the crooks as they crashed into a vehicle.
When they tried to flee, they were apprehended by a group of diners at a nearby eatery.
“I lodged a report at the Johor Baru (south) police station,” said Tham.
Johor Baru (south) police chief Assistant Commissioner Zainuddin Yaacob confirmed that two victims had lodged reports of having their bags snatched in the area.
“Members of the public arrested three of the four thieves.”

Report from The New Straits Times dated Friday 12 October 2007 :-
4 charged with murder of retired teacher
JOHOR BARU : Four men were charged in a magistrate's court here yesterday with the murder of a 66-year-old former teacher in a bid to snatch her handbag.
Muhamad Farhan Bacok, Mohd Amir Mahsyur, both 24, Ahmad Mokhlas Adam, 23, and Mohd Fairuz Abdul Jalil, 21, were jointly charged with murdering Elizabeth Chew Gaik Im in Jalan Harimau, Taman Century, at 8.55am on Sept 30. The four tried to hide their faces from press photographers as they were led into the courtroom.
While sitting in the dock, they stole furtive glances at reporters in the public gallery.
They hung their heads when the charge was read to them before magistrate Khairulnadiah Hasni Yusoff.
When Khairulnadiah Hasni asked them if they understood the charge, the four nodded.
Assistant Superintendent Abdul Aziz Baba prosecuted.
At the Sessions Court later, they were jointly charged with gang-robbery using a hammer.
They are alleged to have taken Chew's handbag, her handphone and a few other possessions in the handbag, which included medicine, her identity card and make-up.
The charge was read before judge Aiman Musri, who granted Abdul Aziz's application that no bail be allowed.
Both cases will be mentioned on Jan 15.
Chew died at Sultanah Aminah Hospital of severe head injuries after she was bludgeoned with what is believed to have been a hammer during the snatch theft.

Bro,
You consider lucky liao! Was in Taman Century 2wks ago with my friend, he rode a bike while I am driving a car. After topping up petrol, my friends stay in the petrol kiosk to while bird shit off his bike and I left 1st.
10 minutes later, (after my hp got reception upon reaching custom), he called for help quoting that he was push off his bike by 3 Malay guys (they came in 2 bikes, 1 show barang inside his jacket to my friend) and they just rode off. A police petrol car saw the incident, chase after them...
Went back to pick up my friend and report the incident to the police. The police then tell us it is very common and my friend is the second victim of the day. The best part is, they said if their counter part manage to catch the robbers during the chase the will sure radio call back. If no radio call means the loss the chase. Come to think of it, couldn't the petrolling officer request for back up?

this happened 2 months ago. News did not report because EVERYDAY Sure got at least 50-100 robberies in Johor Bahru alone. Snatch theft is the most common.. one day about 200 cases.

Thanks for your educated post again.
These 4 criminals must have committed at least 1000 other robberies, rapes, molest etc in Johor Bahru alone. Will be happy if they got hang.
My friend sister was staying further into Johor, near Taman Saleng.. while walking back from school to some shophouses, two indian chaps on motorbikes appeared out of nowhere and snatched her whole bag..
she fell onto the ground and FRACTURED her hand.
Couldnt even attend exams.
In her class of 40 students, about 10 had been snatched theft before and all 40 had family members being victims of rapes, molest and snatch theft.
I pity the normal citizens in Malaysia who are tryingg to make ends meet.

It is quite true that a lot of the hardcore criminals are indians.
however, let us be fair to the poor innocent indian brothers up north who are victims of indian criminals too. i myself have personal indian friends in malaysia who are decent businesspersons and doctors etc and they feel threatened by the insecurity in their neighbourhood too.
the indians criminals are rather hardcore. they have no qualms about gang-raping a PREGNANT woman in front of her 3 year old kid in deserted houses like what happened in Tampoi, Johor Bahru a few months back. Those type of cases really scare the hell out of malaysians and travellers alike... and the indians community in malaysia anda johor bahru, esp those law-abiding, had suffered a lot under the stupid government.

A few of my friends and some on the internet have complained of returning from jb to singapore and were warned to stop their vehicles late at nights on road shoulders.
the attackers, seemingly car-jackers or robbers, will jam brake at you hoping u will crash into their car and then go to road side to negotiate. then they will bundle u into the car and drive off.
when u overtake them, being singapore cars with powerful engines, they will try to chase u and hi-beam at you many times warning u too stop.
never stop. just drive on and speed up at 150km.hour. they will stop following u once u are near to the custom. never never stop let me tell u. if anyone ride next to u and say polis and ask u to stop, never stop. go to the polis stations ( or any in singapore ) to lodge a report to defend youself. at least when they claimeed that u are trying to run away from polis, u can defend yourself. being singaporean, our embassies will protect u.
i mean, who the hell will stop by the road side in malaysia at 12am?? dont be stupid. this is a warning to those who are plannig to go into malaysia for holidays over the 2 months holidays.

THe tactic of hitting you slightly and getting you to come out of the car while they rob/steal your car is more than 3-4 years old already. It can happen in the day as well, as a colleague of mind find out along KL Federal Highway.
Also becareful of pedestrians. Some will come close to your car and pretend you hit them. Then you get out of your car, they pretend pain like WWE so you pay them.
Not just Singaporeans, But Malaysians and everyone should bewarre of this.

Report from The New Straits Times dated Wednesday 24 October 2007 :-
Move to reduce crimes in Johor shows results
CONCERTED efforts by the police to tackle crimes had seen crime rates in Johor decreasing by 7.3 per cent in the first seven months of this year compared with the same period last year.
Deputy Internal Security Minister Datuk Fu Ah Kiow said there were 15,646 criminal cases registered between January and July compared with 16,882 cases last year.
"In Johor Baru, the crime index has decreased by 11.9 per cent," he told opposition leader Lim Kit Siang.
Lim contended that the people of Johor still fell unsafe despite the improving statistics.
"Whenever people crossed over to Singapore, they feel safe but when they return, the fear due to crime resurfaced," said the DAP Ipoh Timur member.
Fu acknowledged there was still fear among Johor Baru residents over crime cases.
"That's why it is important to let the public know that the police are doing their best and the hard work has paid off as evident from the statistics."
Police, he said, had set up six new district police headquarters in the state. Three are in Johor Baru and one each in Batu Pahat, Muar and Segamat.
"Two of the IPDs in Johor Bahru have started operations from rented buildings," he said, adding that another 21 new police stations would be built in the state.
He told Wong Nai Chee (BN-Kota Melaka) that since August, the state police had recruited 400 officers and added 200 patrol cars.

Driver killed in carjacking
Police officers combing for clues at the scene of the robbery yesterday.
GOMBAK: A limousine driver was bludgeoned to death by a gang of robbers who tried to hijack his company's Mercedes Benz E-Class at a petrol station here, early yesterday.
Low Teck Chai
In the incident about 5.45am at the Shell petrol station in KM6.4 of Jalan Gombak, Low Teck Chai, 46, was refuelling the car when he was hit on the head with a blunt object, believed to be a piece of wood. City CID chief SAC II Ku Chin Wah said Low was on his way to work in Jalan Pinang when four men in a black Proton Perdana stopped beside him at the station.
"Three of the men alighted from the car and one of them started attacking Low. The victim collapsed with head injuries.
"The suspect then tried to drive away in the limousine with his three accomplices trailing in the Proton Perdana," Ku said.
But some 30 metres away, the car's security immobiliser system kicked in, causing the vehicle to stall. The doors were also automatically locked.
The enraged robber then broke the driver's side window, crawled out and went for Low.
He dragged the semi-conscious victim to the back seat of the Mercedes Benz and asked him how to disengage the system.
Low was then beaten to death. He died in the car causing the robber to jump into the waiting Proton Perdana.
It is learnt that the terrified cashier manning the station hid inside the storeroom when the incident unfolded and later called the police.
Low's body was later taken to Hospital Kuala Lumpur for a post-mortem.
Ku said the case has been classified as murder and police have lifted several sets of fingerprints from the limousine.
Police are also expected to view footages obtained from the closed-circuit television cameras at the petrol station.
The father of three from Gombak was working for Stoneway Trevel & Tours Sdn Bhd.
Company operations manager, YK Siow said Low was a long-serving and hardworking employee.
"He had been with us for more than 10 years and had always been a friendly and hardworking driver.
"We are all shocked and deeply saddened by what has happened," he said.
Siow added that this was the first time the company, which has about 200 drivers, had experienced such an incident.

What the police had claimed that the JB crime rate had gone down by 7.3 % YOY, is an illusion:eek:
It did not disclose the success rate!! Perhaps the down-turn was due to other factors, like: fewer Singaporeans visiting JB [main target group]; lesser ladies strolling along the streets; Fewer people are carrying much money that attract ciminal activities; Many of those can not cari makan in JB and had moved to nearby areas like Kluang, BP and even Muar. It is just like our beloved city hall claiming that their flood mitigation programs are working well, when the total rainfall over the whole year had fallen by 60 %, so not much rain to test the flood mitigation set-up's cannot constitute a success!
I used to take note of our beloved mata-mata [now some DSP's are in hot waters] patrolling along KL and JB streets. They close one eye to the most blatant abuse of the law: Many motorcyclists have not helmets on, headlights not switched on, carrying 2 ~3 children on a bike, jumping traffic lights....if these openly law-flouting motorcyclists, they can't catch or rather they don't want to catch, what about those innocent-looking snatch thieves who only expose themselves as criminals when the crimes are committed. Are the police that smart to per-determine who are the criminals?
There is a hypothesis: If a police were to detect a car and a motorcyclist jumping the traffic lights, which will the police catch?? the motorist or the motorcyclist??
If the police could use thier intelligience [if any] to nab criminals as much the same level they use their intellegience in corrupt practices, Malaysia would be a better place to live in.
Mere lip-service and campaigns will not get any results. By just wearing a badge "ANTI RASUAH" does not address the problem...maybe they wear a better sounding badge "NANTI RASUAH" :D

Statistics can always be manipulated to show what you want people to see. The polis in Malaysia as such a tarnished reputation, who believe them must be naive.

Report from The STAR dated Thursday 25 October 2007 :-
Teen gang-raped by four men in JB
JOHOR BARU : A 15-year-old entertainment outlet worker was gang-raped by four men, including her boyfriend, in a house in Kampung Melayu Majidee.
All four and another man, who watched the gang rape, have been arrested.
The victim’s boyfriend, a factory worker whom she had dated for two weeks, had told her to run some errands for him last Sunday.
Once at the man’s home, he and his three colleagues, in their early 20s, raped the victim repeatedly while another watched.
The victim was later dropped off in front of a fast food outlet in Permas Jaya.
She lodged a report at Central police station on Wednesday.
Johor Baru (South) OCPD Asst Comm Zainuddin Yaacob said the five men were detained shortly after the report was made.

Report from The STAR dated Monday 29 October 2007 :-
Crime Victim Suffered Injuries from Failed Robbery
JOHOR BAHRU: Mr. Ong Seng Yon, from Pasir Gudang sustained serious injuries to his face, including a broken nose and torn lips, during a failed robbery incident near OCBC Bank here.
Ong, 23, had to undergo a three-hour surgery during which doctors had to insert a plastic plate into his nose as well as stitch his badly-torn lips after he was forced to the ground by impact of the robbers’ action.
The thieves sped off empty-handed in a Proton Perdana V6 during the 2pm incident in front of the OCBC Bank on Saturday.
According to Ong, he was walking towards his car when he suddenly felt a tug and fell to the ground.
“I saw two men on a car speeding off when they failed to snatch my bag which was slung around my body.
“The strap snapped and the thieves escaped on the vehicle which was fitted with a false number plate,” he said when met at a private medical centre here.
Ong said a patrol car in the vicinity sent him to a nearby hospital as he was bleeding profusely from his nose.
He also said a police officer came to the hospital within 30 minutes and took his report.
It is learnt that detectives have been stationed near the bank to be on the lookout for the snatch thieves.

Report from The STAR dated Tuesday 30 October 2007 :-
Long arm of the law to get even longer in Johor
JOHOR BARU : Johor cops are in talks with Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) on the possibility of using satellite technology to combat crime.
State Police Chief Deputy Comm Datuk Hussin Ismail said researchers at UTM's School of Professional and Continuing Education (SPACE) were looking at using remote sensing to help in investigations.
"It is still in the planning stages and experts at the university are researching it extensively," he said.
The technology would enable police to observe high definition satellite footage of a crime scene via closed-circuit television.
DCP Hussin said the university was also cooperating with police in researching methods to improve cooperation with the public, crime prevention and preparing courses for community awareness on crime prevention.

First of all, why didn't he PM the real KTL?? At least explain to him that he adopted the name out of respect or "admiration" or whatever intentions.
Secondly, he admitted using his nickname due to uniqueness, but he went further to adopt his avatar, and even mislead our fellow brothers that he was the actual KNN reporting! WTF, as far I am concerned, it is absolutely nonsensical to accept his innocence. Looking at his style of English, he is no ordinary ah beng, and I would say, after knowing the actual KTL69 for so long, this fucker imposter has the same level of English as Bro KTL69.
My conviction is still the same, i.e. this clown has deliberately use all of Bro KTL69's branding to cause malice and embarassment to Bro KTL69.
If he just admire Bro KTL69, maybe by copying KTL, he has not crossed the wicket line, but he copied even the avatar [don't tell me he also admires that cheetah??] and even used the abbreviation: KNN for Kateoy News Network!
If that is not imposting what is it then?

Prof,
Agree with you 100% !
That's why I dare him to meet me and my fellow JB Samsters in person ...... I don't accept his 'innoncence' and 'admiration' for me.
Bro KatoeyLover96,
If you really 'respect' and 'admire' me, please STOP your nonsence at once and adopt a new nick immediately !

I wont be surprised if the polis up north come out and say crime rate has reduced by 90% when it increased by 900%.
the malaysian polis have no more reputation left. I see polis up north machaim see robbers.
