Think of it as a team.
Have you planned for things like:
* Family goals
* Whether to have kids
* Who wakes up at night
* Who changes diapers
* Who spends more time with the children
* Who plans ahead vs who executes
* Financial responsibilities — who pays more, how to manage money
* Each person’s role in the household
This is no different from work.
The only difference is —
you can quit a job, but you can’t simply walk away from a family.
Like any team, you need:
* Someone who can lead when needed
* Someone who can plan
* Someone who can execute
And most importantly — communication.
When your partner is unhappy:
* Do you blame?
* Or do you listen and work toward a solution?
This partnership between two people is very much like a working relationship.
You either have the rapport — or you don’t.
But beyond that, you must have the ability to:
* Talk openly
* Solve problems together
* Plan ahead
* Execute as a team
That’s what makes it work.

Marriage is so complicated no wonder failure rate more than 50%! Having one person shoulder all the responsibility is impossible! It is like running a one man company and having the CEO, CFO, CIO, etc all be one person. I doubt it is physically possible.
After going thru a failed relationship my current stand is very simple. I will outsource everything wherever possible. I don't need my partner to cook, clean, take care of finances, be my friend, therapist, etc. The only thing not possible to outsource for various logistical reasons is sex. If my partner doesn't want to have sex with me she is no better than a roommate and then it is pointless keeping her around.
In return I don't expect my partner to foist the same responsibilities on me since it is not fair. I won't be her porter, friend, handyman, tech support, therapist, chauffeur, etc. I can do all those things just that I refuse to be the only person she relies on for any of those tasks!
The most successful and highly communicative relationship I have witnessed so far is between 2 male homosexuals. There is no drama and 100% communication to resolve issues before it blows up. But most women communicate in different ways and I would hazard to say that most women even crave drama! If everything is going fine in a relationship they start shit for no reason once they get bored!
So for me I have yet to be able to find a female partner who has similar values and can meet my very simple requirement!
