how to read HIV test result?

bros and sis here,

i have a friend from Korea who came visiting me this week. actually she is my FB and we have been meeting up every few months. i brought her to do a HIV test on wednesday. she didnt want to do the HIV test at AFA cos got many people and she shy so i brought her to Raffles Medical group clinic to do the test. we just got the result just now. as i have always been doing my test at AFA, its either you positive or negative. but this test result is :

HIV Antigen & Antibody

Result
Non-Reactive

i just want to ask

1) is non-reactive means negative?
2) AFA does Antibody test only right? then what is Antigen test?

Non-Reactive means negative.

Wha actually happens is the labs used materials coated w/ HIV Antigen 2 in yr blood sample. If a pax kana HIV, he/ she will hav HIV anti-body in their blood which will respond & connected 2 the HIV antigen. Thus there's a reactive (aka positive) respond, else its non-reactive (aka negative) respond (aka negative).

Sori, I dun knw wha is AFA. Hwevr, if its the name of a HIV test, yap, its all abt testing 4 the presense of HIV antibodies.

Thanks for the reply, bro juswan2knwu. Anyway, last night we already celebrated her negative result by having more f**k sessions. She is leaving tomorrow and from what she say, her hometown to check HIV takes 1 month and alot of people will know you went for test. So singapore is best cos got AFA and also clinics, max only 3 working days.

Congrats on the negative result. However, you should take note of the window period. Also her sexual history. Besides you, does she have sex with anyone else. Assuming she has, then she should take the test 1 month after her encounter and repeat the test at the 3rd month to confirm. For your case, you may also take the test at the 2 time interval period.

i do raw with all my FB. kim, jenny, jaime, candy are all my trusted FB.

even kim, i trust her cos she only does it with her husband with cap.

she went to take test cos we do raw. and the last time we did raw was in nov 06, the last time i went there. she is clear yesterday so she is clean.

as for me, i patron AFA every 2 weekly. cos i have 3 FB and 1 wife in spore who i do raw.

till now, negative. for the past 10 years, all my FB and me do raw. and it has been negative till now. so i trust them very much.

AFA use oral test 1, rite? I nt sure as I always prefer 2 use the blood testing 1 which is more accurate.

U R rite in chking frequently since U always hav more than 1 partners. Cheong oso mus cheong safe as we hav an obligation 2 our families.

AFA is done with blood sample pricked from your fingers. then its placed on a Abbott Rapid Test Strip. Its very accurate, as accurate as those done in the Labs. as for Oral type, im not too sure about its accuracy. i trust blood test anytime more then saliva.

if u read my story on kim, u will know why she does it with cap with her husband. as for us, i dont know why but i think she sort of trust me. anyway, i always email her all my test results after i finish my testing at AFA. so she feels more safe.

as for jenny, jaime and candy, we go for the test together at AFA (not all go together lah), instant results so we are comfortable with that.

Yeah, take note of the window period.

Having multiple sex partners, not to mention unprotected sex would place one in the at-risk category.

Good that you go for tests now and then. But I also wonder if doing it raw is that important considering what is at risk.
