I知 on my second dose of Gardasil 9 vaccine, how protected am I from HPV?

I知 on my second dose of Gardasil 9 of a total of 3 shots in a 0-2-6 month schedule. How much protection do I have from HPV with only 2 shots?

Re: I知 on my second dose of Gardasil 9 vaccine, how protected am I from HPV?

With two doses of Gardasil 9 (the 9-valent HPV vaccine) completed on the standard 0-2-6 month schedule, you have substantial protection against the HPV types covered by the vaccine, though the full recommended series includes a third dose for those starting at age 15 or older.

The CDC recommends a two-dose schedule (typically 0 and 6-12 months apart) for most people who start the series before age 15, based on studies showing that antibody responses from two doses in younger adolescents are non-inferior (comparable) to those from three doses in older groups where efficacy was originally proven. For people starting at age 15 or older (or immunocompromised individuals), the recommendation is three doses (0, 1-2, and 6 months), as in your 0-2-6 schedule.Clinical trials and real-world data indicate that two doses provide high levels of protection against persistent infection, precancers, and other HPV-related diseases caused by the vaccine-targeted types (including high-risk types like 16 and 18, which cause most cervical cancers, plus others up to type 58, and low-risk types causing genital warts).

The vaccine's overall efficacy in fully vaccinated individuals (three doses in original trials) is close to 100% against vaccine-type related persistent infections and precancers in those not previously exposed.

Studies on fewer doses (including for Gardasil 9 and earlier versions) show that two doses elicit robust, durable antibody responses and offer protection very similar to three doses in many contexts熔ften in the high 80-90%+ range against key outcomes like persistent infection or disease, with some observational and immunogenicity data suggesting near-equivalence.

Recent evidence (from trials and long-term follow-up) increasingly supports that even one dose can provide very high protection (often >97% against persistent infection with key types like 16/18), and two doses are at least as good or better, with no significant waning observed over years in many studies.

Your two doses (first and second, with the second at ~2 months) are part of the standard three-dose regimen for your age group.

The third dose (at 6 months) is intended to maximize and potentially prolong the immune response. You likely have good to excellent interim protection right now容specially if you were not previously exposed to the vaccine types傭ut completing the third dose is still recommended for the highest level of long-term protection.

The vaccine does not protect against HPV types not included in Gardasil 9, nor does it treat existing infections or conditions. Continue routine cervical cancer screening (if applicable based on age and guidelines) and consult your healthcare provider for personalized advice, including when to get the third dose. They can also discuss your specific situation, such as any prior HPV exposure risks.
