BBBJ, Guilt

Went for BBBJ two Sundays ago. So the exposure till now is about 10 days. No symptoms but the guilt for my OC and the risk is killing me. I have been having nightmares and not able to sleep well every night since then. I’ve went to Dtap and doctor said it’s too early for all tests. So the earliest is end of Sept then I am able to test for all risk. I know I am not capable for this game but anyone can help me out? I’m struggling badly…

Re: BBBJ, Guilt

you will need to handle the mental stress better otherwise your anxiety and paranoia might do you harm, leading you to have false bodily discomfort.
Try deep breathing or meditation or talk to a professional stress therapist.. whatever helps you calm your nervous system

Stick to the test appointment as suggested by DTAP

Thank you for the kind advice.

I believe there are ppl that felt something similar to mine.
How do they cope it? How do they face their OC?
From now till end of the month is quite long, everyday feel like weeks.
Am I at high risk? I just need to be assured..
I wan to be healthy… really made a big mistake… really regretted it so much.

If you need to, speak with a therapist through your problems. Else try chatgpt and look up for some breathing exercises for anxiety. It's good that you found your boundaries so you know not to cross it if you continue to engage in services.

There's nothing wrong you feel guilty that you engaged in sexual services whilst married. To zoom out a bit, there's nothing else you can do but to wait for the results. So at least seek for methods to make the wait more comfortable.

If you feel worried that you may catch something, try capped next time. If you feel guilty towards your wife that you found a WL, then stop I guess.

All the best to you

Chances of your catching something from a single incidence of unprotected oral sex is so remote that you should worry more about being run over by a bus tomorrow.

Thank you for your advice as well.
The guilt finally caught up to me.
I will never forget this traumatic event, I have learnt from it.
All the diseases/viruses made me really scared.

I’m really hoping for the best, praying for the best result.

What exactly are you afraid of? HIV? Zero chance.

Your main concern would probably be gonorrhea but that is treatable. The window period is short so you can get tested within a couple of weeks to rule it out.

If your BBBJ was a couple of sundays ago you can simply pop by a pharmacy and buy a test kit and check yourself out today.

No need to stress yourself out any longer.

Definitely all the possible diseases/viruses from BBBJ. Gonorrhoea, Chlymedia, Syphilis, HIV, HSV, HPV etc

It was 10 days ago exposure, would it be accurate to test for Gonorrhoea now?

Test today and repeat 14 days after exposure just for confirmation.

There are home test kits that test for both Gonorrhea and Chlamydia at the same time. Again the ideal window period is 2 weeks so all you have is another 4 days to go.

As for HSV, HPV etc these are transmitted via skin to skin contact so even if you have a BJ with condom there is still a chance of getting infected.

If you want a risk free life you need 100% abstinence which is not really a practical way to live. I would die of boredom.

Is it recommend to test for HSV and HPV as well? Or is it better to not know it

There is no accurate test for HPV for men.

As for HSV chances are you already have it but are asymptomatic. The virus infects 70% of all adults. Type 1 used to be predominantly cold sores around the mouth but the lines have blurred over time and you can get type 1 in the genital area too. Type 2 is genital herpes.

...................................

From AI summary :

Globally, a large majority of people are infected with at least one type of herpes simplex virus (HSV-1 or HSV-2), primarily driven by HSV-1.Worldwide (WHO estimates, based on 2020 data)HSV-1: Approximately 3.8 billion people under age 50 (about 64% of the global population in that age group) have HSV-1. This is the main cause of oral herpes (cold sores). Most infections are acquired in childhood. Around 10% of these (roughly 376 million people aged 15–49) are estimated to be genital HSV-1 infections.

who.int

HSV-2: Approximately 520 million people aged 15–49 (about 13% of people in that age group worldwide) have HSV-2, the main cause of genital herpes. Prevalence is higher in women than men and increases with age.

who.int

These figures overlap (some people have both viruses). Because HSV-1 is so widespread, the percentage of people under 50 with either HSV-1 or HSV-2 (or both) is high—typically in the range of roughly 65% or more in many estimates, though exact combined global “either” percentages are not always published separately by WHO.Most infections of either type are asymptomatic or unrecognized.

Re: BBBJ, Guilt

No, there is currently no reliable, FDA-approved, or routinely recommended HPV test for men.

Official Position

According to the CDC and other major health authorities:
There is no approved test to determine a man’s overall “HPV status.”
FDA-cleared HPV tests (DNA tests for high-risk types) are authorized only for use on cervical or vaginal samples in women as part of cervical cancer screening.

The CDC does not recommend routine HPV testing or screening for men (or for oral/anal sites in the general population).

Why No Standard Test Exists for Men

HPV infects skin and mucosal cells at various sites (penis, scrotum, anus, throat), but there is no single, consistent sampling site equivalent to the cervix.

Surface swabs of the penis or other areas often miss the virus because shedding can be intermittent and the virus may not be evenly distributed.

A positive result would not clearly change clinical management for most men (most infections clear on their own; there is no treatment for the virus itself).

No validated blood test exists for HPV infection.

What Is Available in Limited Situations

Visible symptoms**: Genital warts can usually be diagnosed by visual exam (sometimes confirmed by biopsy). Low-risk HPV types cause most warts.

High-risk groups: Some clinicians offer **anal cytology (anal Pap tests) to men who have sex with men (especially those with HIV) or others at elevated risk for anal cancer. This looks for abnormal cells rather than directly testing for HPV DNA and is not a routine screening tool for the general male population.

Research or specialty settings sometimes use penile, anal, or oral swabs for HPV DNA detection, but these are not standardized, FDA-approved for clinical decision-making, or recommended for routine use.

Bottom Line

There is no simple, reliable way for an asymptomatic man to get tested for HPV the way women are screened for cervical cancer risk. Prevention centers on HPV vaccination (recommended for males through age 26, and sometimes later depending on risk), safer sex practices, and regular check-ups if symptoms appear or if you are in a higher-risk group.

If you have specific concerns (e.g., partner diagnosis, visible lesions, or risk factors), talk to a healthcare provider. They can discuss visual exams, anal screening if appropriate, or other STI testing. Research into better tests for men is ongoing, and some legislative efforts have aimed at developing standardized options, but none are currently approved for routine clinical use.
