Part 1: The Unexpected

It all began about 2 months ago during September 2013 period. As was quite unhappy with the previous job, and started looking for job via jobstreet which is common. This day, I was with friends at Kuala Lumpur, whereby got a unknown call.

Me: Hello
Caller: Hi. Is this Birdie?
Me: Yes. I’m Birdie, and who’s that calling?
Caller: I’m Vivien from XYZ Company. And understand you are interested in the Operation Manager position?

Vivien: Ok. Wonder if you will be free tomorrow for an interview?
Me: Tomorrow? I doubt so, as I’m in KL right now, and will be back only tomorrow night.
Vivien: Oh. You are in KL?

Vivien: That’s good. What about do you mind meeting the General Manager this evening? As she’s in KL as well
Me: This evening? Should not be a problem. What time shall it be?
Vivien: Can I call you shortly? I will check with the GM what time is suitable
Me: Ok.

I hang up the call after that and continue my meal. After about 5 minutes or so, my hand-phone rang again.

Me: Hello
Vivien: Hi. This is Vivien again. I just spoke to you a while ago.
Me: Yes.
Vivien: Ok. Are you able to make it at about 8.30pm at ABC Hotel?
Me: Ok. Should not be a problem. Where do I meet the GM? Or is there any way I can contact the GM?
Vivien: Sure. I will message the GM number to you shortly. Once you are there, just give her a call will do.
Me: Ok. Will do.

After that, I hang up again and continued my meal. Received a message from Vivien, about the GM’s number. With that, we continued touring around KL for massage etc

About 7.30pm, I hailed a cab and headed off to the destination after bidding off my friend. However due to traffic jam, by the time I reached the hotel, it was about 9.15pm. Of course out of courtesy, I did message the GM that I will be late as well. Upon reaching, I called the GM but the line got cut off. I tried again, and the line got cut off again. I was thinking, ‘Jialat la. Is it the GM angry of me for being late?’

Within seconds, I received a message from the GM. It stated ‘Come up to Room XX.’ With that, I headed into the lift, and headed up to the floor. I went to the room indicated, and press on the bell. Waited a while before the door opened…
